drowcon
i personally am tired of seeing people walking around saying "lookin for bf/gf " and i have sources whom ive interviewed, who wished to remain annonomous, who said that they get the makeover mage to make them girls to get guys to give them free, sometimes rare, items. in that case i think that would be associated with scamming because of wat the dictionary says scamming is :A fraudulent business scheme; a swindle. but there are people with relationships in real life who both play runescape together. this is truly a flip flop senario which could cause massive banning. i, personally, would like this rule enforced please tell me what you think, owd2 "the wise" Worst Update: Ditch of Stupidity"when the rich wage war, its the poor who die."pm me to sell green d hides, perm buyer
Loge_05
"Looking for Rich BF" <--------- That should be banned. Some relationships are genuine however and I feel it would be too time-consuming and draining to sift through those who know one another in RL and those who are looking for elevation. Compared to other rule-breaking this would be very minor and mistakes would be too common, because of this Jagex will not make it a reportable offence. Offline and unavailable. ember3579
yeah.i think that the advertizing for rich dates should be a bannable offense, cause that is essentially item scamming.but 2 people that meet in rs or know each other in rl who identify themselves as a couple are not breaking any rules.in fact, for long distance relationships, its potentially helpful!& what about the ceremony thing with the prayer books?it seems to me that jagex dont have any problems with it, or that wouldnt be there, now would it? StrOwez
i think the rich bf or gf thing should be banned but, runescape is turning into a dectatorship already or is one :S so making genuen lovers not being able to love each other is out of proportion. A friend to all is a friend to none.
shade_bandyt
i cant see why people have a problem with this. simple asking for somebody to be their bf/gf is not item scamming, and its not trading items for real world goods or services. in fact its no different than giving a free gift to a friend in runescape, just for being a friend, and theres no rule against that as for weddings (and divorces, i guess), its just part of the social aspect of the game, and thats a part of nearly every mmorpg out there. its a role playing game, and people meet other people via the internet through this medium. its also a chat, hang out site, market and lounge, all in one. people are somehow gonna hook up theres no way it should be bannable, or even raise eyeborws of people not involved. i have never heard of somebody coming on this forums saying they got scammed by a golddigger girlfriend or or a pimp boyfriend. maybe it happens and people dont say anything, but there are much more serious things in the game to worry about than who's having a rs wedding. most of the time the bride and groom know its nothing serious, and its the on-lookers and busy-bodies that complain about it that are taking the game too seriously. i say leave the people let them play the game the way they want. it doesnt affect you and it doesnt break any rules Are you a member with a full bank and cancelling your subscription? darthprince007
I agree with banning people that are asking for a rich partner, but getting rid of relationships would be devistating for some people. There are kids out there who can't get any and may come to this game just to get attention, plus this little bf and gf thing may help them in future relationships if they ever have one in real life PM me any time.....my name has two spaces 0.o
utter492
im ok with it, though i never have relatrionships online, because, hey it works sometimes. BUT alot of the time there are scary people, online pretadors, crossdressers ect.(you know what im talking about) online and they could leak info of where they are... just think if you meet some one online, become gf/bf meet in rl and see that its 2 40 year old men... that definitally a problem... so yes, all love online should be outlawed because, well, its just unsafe and kinda freaky... Captaingoodguy
I have no problem with it. It makes for a fun time when you PM some guy looking for a g/f and tell him that most girls looking for a b/f are actually men. Those people make me laugh. But when a "couple" start talking dirty to eachother is way to far, they couLd at leat do that over the private messaging system, but it is already a bannable offense (Offensive Language). And I am not talking like: "oh I love you so much...", I'm talking about when they say stuff to eachother that is sexually explicit, thus reportable. As for the rich date thing, I am not sure if it would always be considered a scam, because there are some people out there who could be really rich and would prefer someone that is their monetary equal or something. For that to be considered a scam it would be a matter of opinion for the Jagex staff. And since they are already get ragged on pretty hard it would be a bad move for them. Because for something like this one staff member would see a scammer and another one might see an innocent relationship. Because of that I don't think that it should be considered scamming. Jack12338
Cough. Your dating pixels. That is like... Screaming nerdy. I mean... I can understand actually people in real life that are girlfriend and boyfriend that play Runescape... But your dating freaking pixels. I would assume that being the ultimate state of desperation. Blegh.
Giordano
Date whoever they want to, I'll just laugh. I mean, would you look at pixels or make out with a real hot chick? But they have their rights. About the "Looking for rich bf", that just makes me laugh. I just called 'em peasant and move on. Begging to be someone's gf (happened to me) is distugsting. It's like going to a hooded stranger and ask to be their bf/gf. About what Capitangoodguy said, THAT is disgusting. Once I went to Varrock Square, free world to sell some stuff to this guy. One my way I passed Varrock square, and two idiots where having "sex" ( ) and saying "*unzipps zippa*" and "h****r h****R!!!!!" "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." ishepp
Firstly, how would you implement this? Anyway, if you see someone saying "looking for rich bf", generally from a character under lvl 25, and you say yes, well, this is so stupid you probably deserve to lose your stuff, at least you might knock some sense into yourself. Funny how people judge your looks, personality. on how your pixels look. I see enough people following female characters saying "You look hot" etc. I wonder if they would say the same if they knew she was 4 times their age, and had a rl husband? Don't think we need a rule for it, it would be fine as long as people apply common sense. I do agree that its a form of scamming to do this with the purpose of getting free stuff. 89/99 farming

JamJar20
I agree, relationships on RS2 are not really sensible because in a way this is real word item trading and it is against the rules and should not be :o If think rule breakers should have there account banned

Bellatrix
I cant suppot that offer. See, all that "looking of a rich bf/gf" or a moron standing for half an hour in the bank typing "needs gf" - Its lame, and is so clear that most of those players simply want to utilize someone rich. But I tend to agree with what was said earlier - If someone falls in such a trick, he/she really deserve it. Its not a real scamming - its gift for "romantic attention" from another player (lame and stupid as it is). And the most important thing: Let jagex first enforce the existing rules. Macroes, hackers, item scammers etc make far more damage then the "need a rich bf/gf" people. Its not recommanded to add another rule for such a problem, when Its already hard to deal with much worse threats. Vashinred
How about if we cant do a thing about it, We pity those who do it. Its the internet poeple, How many poeple are actully who they are online? Its just a stupid thing. And when you see a "couple" next, Look at there levels, if on is 40 and the other is 102, then thats not good... BTW, Most couples are probally not in love no matter how hard they try to lie about it. http://vashinred.googlepages.com/
qwerty_the_keyboard
I came up with a theory that will solve all 'relationship' issues. I call it... the 'slap' emote. Why waste time getting your rubber chicken out of the bank when you have the new slap emote? You simply click on the emote button, then right click on a player to slap him/her. Kewl_Sabre
I think they should be able to do whatever they want. However, some "relationships" can get a little outside the realm of appropriate for Runescape. Like, the ones that pretend to... do stuff... should be banned. But if people are willing to give free items to people because they like their pixels, heck - more power to 'em. Giving gifts willingly doesn't really count as scamming. As long as it doesn't drift into R-rated territory, they can do whatever they want. And as long as no one tries to involve me

liv_2_kill
I completly agree it should be banned or fit into a categorie of abuse.. ! 1) It's Scamming, In some cases. (Looking for rich BF/GF) 2) It could possibly lead to asking for personal details. (To meet or know how they look) 3) It could be related to offensive language in some cases. (Talking about sex related topics and such)
