i_m_darkness
Stupid Pointless Annoying Message aka SPAM Most of you might think this is just an abbreviation, nothing more too it, but you're wrong! There lies a whole history behind the word SPAM as we, internet youngsters, have come to know it. It all started in the 1930's with... ham Back then, there was a product called Hormel Spiced Ham, but this wasn't a very good name; no1 remembered it. A contest was held and the name SPAM (SPiced hAM) made the cut. Decennia later, there was a Britisch television show named 'Monthy Python's Flying Circus' (if you haven't ever heared of Monthy Python SHAME ON YOU! ). In one of it's episodes there was a sketch 'Spam'. "Spam" is a popular Monty Python sketch, first broadcast in 1970. In the sketch, two customers are trying to order a breakfast from a menu that includes the processed meat product in almost every item. The term spam (in electronic communication) is derived from this sketch. It features Terry Jones as The Waitress, Eric Idle as Mr. Bun and Graham Chapman as Mrs. Bun. The televised skit also featured John Cleese as The Hungarian, but this part was left out of audio recordings of the sketch. Only three and a half minutes long, it builds up into a semi-argument between the waitress who has a menu limited to having SPAM in just about everything ("SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, sausage, eggs and SPAM"), and Mrs. Bun, who is the only one in the room who does not want it. At several points, a group of Vikings in the restaurant (later referred to as the Green Midget Caf̮̩̉̉) drown out all conversation by jumping up and loudly singing a song about "Spam, lovely Spam, wonderful Spam." They are interrupted by the waitress many times, but they resume singing more and more loudly until at last the song reaches an operatic climax. In the end credits, every member of the crew has either SPAM or some other food item from the menu added to their names. This was the final sketch of the 25th show of Monty Python's Flying Circus, and was first aired December 15, 1970. Despite its shortness, the sketch became immensely popular. The word "Spam" is mentioned at least 132 times. The episode can be found here: http://linux.gda.pl/pub/spam/ Most likely someone who knew of this sketch, must have started using it in a game once and that's how it started growing. Today people who talk/post alot are often referred to as SPAMmers by internetters, everyone uses the word :) -I'm Darkness- Thanks to: http://linux.gda.pl/pub/spam/ http://www.wikipedia.org/ http://www.answers.com/ http://www.lot23.com/play/connected/index.php

speedofsound
no no no spam is stuff posing as meat You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."
