Doomster
Having quietly chopped away at Oaks to burn for pointless firemaking XP, to raise my woodcutting, and to cook lobbies at Karamja... Surprised to see the Oaks now as busy as the Willows - then realised... Oaks are now used for Oak planks in construction, having formerly only been useful for a small band of fletching levels. Not sure if all the players at the Oaks are autos, from levels and kit, seems unlikely. Anyway, I'm now doing woodcutting levels and banking Oaks at a quiet spot that is a bit further from a bank (not telling you where) and aiming to take 500 or 1k to Varrock (World 1) and see if I get any takers. baron8000
hmmm doubtful, the engine update seems to have stopped macroers for now, at least the majority. And whilst oaks are profitable they will never be as profitable as yews, so most WC macroes would probably go for the biggest profit. but then again i have little understnading of macroes so i might be wrong
shade_bandyt
actually oaks are in much higher demand than yews and more expensive right now, and autoers could now make money for the oaks they train on instead of selling to shops. they get both quick cash and exp towards yew chopping later. and to think they didnt want f2pers to mine ess for members.... Are you a member with a full bank and cancelling your subscription? Are you an F2P player that wants more bank space? Dr_Elephant
Even if autoers begin targeting oaks, I doubt it will cause any strife to other oak-cutters. There are plenty of oaks throughout RS, and they respawn quickly so there shouldn't be much competition. Maybe it will bring prices down, but not any lower than they were before Construction was released, so there shouldn't be much to complain about. And for members, it doesn't take long to be able to farm oaks and have them all to yourself. The tree patch in Falador is perfect for that. Dilts36
i really doubt they are autoers, but this is a good thread, yeh it seems like oaks have a use those, the only thing i wish was they used maple Chairs, tables, beds, and what not. because Maple makes Very Beautiful Chairs. Exarctus
Scar, sbot/2 and Aryan have all died, the majority of all macro'ers have had their ability to macro removed because of it. Nor have i seen any news of any more bots/pascal modulators being released anytime soon, so the threat of macro'ers has almost been removed. The reason i say almost, is having been reading various forms of programming at university, i've found that nothing is imposibble when it comes toc reating a user defined script. With that in mind all the cheating community needs is a spark to set alight the problems runescape had before with detecting and removing macro'ers. However with jagex constantly updating its system to be more complex and acurate, i don't forsee any nublet making something good enough to cause a mass frolic of players venturing back into the cheating world again :)

Lode
I see some autoers, but not nearly as much as before the update... I hope it stays this way. Yeah. Id really like more different kinds of woods used solely for Construction. More tools would be a nice addition, as well as stains and lacquer, of they had it back whenever the game was supposed to take place. (Granted, I know it isnt one specific time period). Edit - Sorry for being off topic On topic - I dont think autoers will move to oaks. The hype will settle down in a few days/weeks.
Doomster
Just hope they don't do anything stupid like "pure oak" - the updates sure seems to have knocked down the autoers, more than "pure ess" did. Got 60k for 600 oaks (was collecting 1k, but hit level 41 and decided to go looking for a rune axe). Oaks were trading at 100 gp, Willows at 30 - mind you, air running would probably be faster gp. ForsakenMage
Highly doubt the macroers will take a stab at the oaks, although admittedly I've seen quite a few of them chopping the oaks... Clicked Report and moved on... They usually take the oak trees closer to the bank, so I just cut the oaks closer to the jail. And laugh when the autoers cutting yews get owned by the jail guards. Adventurer's Log || YouTube || Facebook || Tip.it Times Work || Wanna Join the Editorial Panel?Maxed Out 01 October 2012 PDT
thegoof
I saw some autoers cutting Willows last night on Lumbridge. They sold all of ot to the stores. I reported a good bit of them and waited around for Captain Hand could kill one so I could go and try to return them in case it was not an autoer. It returned to cutting and when I tried to give them back, it started doing some random things.
Norpographic-X
I really don;t think at the moment that the autoer's will target the oak trees simply because oaks are too much of an unstable commodity right now with supply and demand of the oaks affecting the price too much... if in the next week or 2, oak log prices stabilise and look like a profitable option for the marco'ers, expect to see them at an oak tree near you!! Kewl_Sabre
I think it'll take autoers a while to move to oaks, if they move at all. Especially since they have thousands of legits to compete with for oak logs. Hm... just realized I should stop cutting oaks and reading these forums at the same time, lest I get reported... : P

bilbobaggins
well, my worst fears are here. some macros have hit the oaks. okay, fine it's not a fear at all. as ong as they don't hit the cabbage I'm fine. but the engine upgrade toasted like 90% of the macros. but, as with all anti-cheat software, there are a few hanging around. all it takes is a few lines of code, and they get around. like aimbots/wallhacks in FPS games, what JAGeX needs is to readily update anti-cheat. anyhoo, I did 1k oaks for 100k a few days ago. it was boring, but good cash. But it'll go away in a month or so when everyone uns out of money.
Doomster
One annoying thing... I WANTED a tree spirit, carried two lines of food, wore full armour, carried best weapon, ready to fight it for the chance of a better axe. And all I got was one axe split, one ent, and a drunken dwarf
