June 21, 200620 yr I don't know about you guys, but I'm a little sick of the same plain old yellow default text. I believe myself, that they should change the default color to green. And I'll list my reasons for this suggestion. 1. Yellow has been proven to be strainful on the eyes. And if the text was less strainful on eyes people would be able to play longer, and Jagex would make more money. 2. Why green you ask?, Because green is less stainful, plus green is a mellow soft color, that represents in your brain as happyness. Now I'm sure not everyone will be with me on this, but please dont spam this thread, and if you guys and gals could just leave your thoughts, comments, and support.
June 21, 200620 yr Yes, but, green is the most common land color in the game. It would be extremely hard to see on a grassy background.
June 21, 200620 yr I think it's fine at yellow... "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
June 21, 200620 yr want to speak in green text? Type green: before every sentance ingame. Amusingly enough you can actually type yellow: before speaking, and the text just stays yellow :P Quit runescape, now playing EVE-Online(Mail Cambarus and say hi  )
June 21, 200620 yr 1. Yellow has been proven to be strainful on the eyes. And if the text was less strainful on eyes people would be able to play longer, and Jagex would make more money. Jagex would lose money if people played longer. They make money on a monthly basis, not hourly. If people play longer then at any given time more people are playing and more servers are needed. It could be argued that Jagex would lose money, but I don't think people stop because of yellow text (and if they do, they've been playing too long anyway). If it strains your eyes, turn chat off, but otherwise yellow is good because it stands out over most terrain and objects without being overly bright. I know exactly what you mean, its just ruining the whole game for everybody, this is the worst update since noobs. At least when that guy spoke I learned a new way of spelling "idiot". ^^^ :D lol :D ^^^
June 21, 200620 yr Jagex gets the payment for members and then they could care less how much you pay. You could pay for 1 month and not play 1 second. They still get the money and they don't care. I'm sure they would be just as happy if everybody payed and didn't play so that they wouldn't have to worry about updates and such. And I personally like the text as is. Presto instant eggs. i have the solution to "goblin diplomacy"...kill wartface and bentnoze.
June 21, 200620 yr Jagex would lose money if people played longer. Jagex brings in more than $36,000,000 per year... 600,000 members times $5 per month = $3,000,000 times 12 months per year = $36,000,000 It's not going to hurt them that bad... Since they don't seem to pay employees very well... I think the text should be changed too. green would be a good color, but it would have to be brighter than the ground otherwise it you may spend more time straining to read. June 21, 200620 yr Jagex would lose money if people played longer. While I said this, I also said that I don't think people play less due to the text color. On the original topic, perhaps an option to change your default color. You could set your default to any normally available color (ie red, purple, green, white, yellow, etc). I get a kick out of people thinking that Jagex's profits are based purely on gross revenue minus labor costs. There is such a thing as overhead. When you find yourself managing a corporate budget, you'll know what I'm talking about. :) Anyway, since I feel obligated to say something on-topic, yellow works just fine for me. I can't think of any landscape/background that I can't see the text. I couldn't say the same for any of the other colors.

Yes I know all of that isn't pure profit but I highly doubt they're spending nearly all $3,000,000 of it every month. Internet Marketing For Newbies
June 21, 200620 yr Well. Yellow is fine. I think you should type cyan: or green: before every sentance like i do. Then you get attention and you keep your eyes! Its a Win, Win!
June 21, 200620 yr Green would probably be harder on the eyes because it would blend in with most of the terrain. So it's a strain to read it. I don't exactly like the color yellow, but there really isn't anything that works better.
June 21, 200620 yr It's fine at where it is now, I mean the colors. You can always use the color:... to change the color of what you say, the commands are generally white/green/blue, and it's fine. "People are idiots. Some just like to say they reported you to see your reaction, others are just spastic losers that believe everything is reportable, and others got banned and end up reporting everyone because they are mentally disturbed"
June 21, 200620 yr Personally i think there should be a setting in the options for your text to have it automatically appear as a certain color. Just my opinion though, i find it frustrating to change the color. I only change the color when im typing in a very busy world to buy/sell something. Other then that its fine! June 21, 200620 yr 2. Why green you ask?, Because green is less stainful, plus green is a mellow soft color, that represents in your brain as happyness. Thecnicly green is not mellow or soft. That would be warm colours (red, orange, yellow). Green is also not one of the cold colours (blue, indigo, violet). There are 7 colours in the rainbow (red, orange, gree, blue, indigo, violet in that order), the first 3 are warm, the last 3 are cold. I wish the defult were green purly because it's my favoite colour right along with indigo (for anyone who dosn't know, indgo is a blue darker than navy, indigo is borderline black). I think Jagex uses yellow because there are no (or very few) yellow objects in the game so it shows up everywhere. That was todays science lesson by me.

June 23, 200620 yr if you don't like the yellow then only look in your chatbox :) Computers will never be above humans because we made them. That's what monkeys used to say about us.
