June 24, 200620 yr As most of you will know the new bone weapons have a special that can dramtically lower your opponents deffence if it is used properly, lots of poeple latched onto the idea of using this in the wildy to gain a big advantage, but using it would be very hard as you need to hit the person in the back for it to be effective However i havnt seen a thread on how usefull it will be when fighting large multi-combat monsters, which are often teamed for drops E.g. Giant mole, Dag kings (if you can get behind them), KQ (cant remember which form is range protect, but the other form from that one), KBD etc, im not sure if the effect can be stacked so that the deffence is basically 0 like if person A hit a spec from behind, then person B did aswell, the monster would lose 100+ deff lvls, if this was possible im sure that the SOBD would all invest the 2k for a bow and 12 per bolt for future trips \ , i know im always going to take mine to the mole from now on :twisted:

At least I think, because you need all the sharks/ ppots you cna carry. But would it really work. Would you really be able to KO dagkings when used properly and massivly? All thought i never actually checked if i was infront or behind so this does not mean anything. Just saying.... ~AUSSY~

(RS official forums). They're so going to change the spec. For the first time, in a hundred years, they please rangers, and they're unhappy with it. They'll change it along with the a** examine in the quest.

June 24, 200620 yr The first thing that came to my mind was those stupid steel dragons. I'd love to lower their defence, and if you can wield and antifire shield with the xbow, or if the dagger works well enough, it might be possible. BTW, I finished the quest late last night, where do I get the xbow and the dagger?

June 24, 200620 yr It looks useful on high level monsters that don't auto-attack you on respawn. Daggonoth Kings, especially the Prime with his high defense. Black Dragons, insane defense, takes over a minute to kill even with crystal bow. Giant Rock Crabs, well, problem with these is you have to activate them, making them agressive, but they ignore you if you run away a bit. Granted, easy to kill with magic. Guardian Kalphites, good ranging and halberd spots with these guys. Black Demons, for the halberd fellows. Bound to be others. PS: Are barbed bolts hitting higher on the backstab shot than the bone bolts? What's the max hit (list your range level) for barbed and bones using the bone bow? Shooting/Stabbing from the back (i found) is more accurate then normal...All i have to say :roll:
June 25, 200620 yr okay, the thing about the special, is that i think you dont have to be behind the person/npc to have it work, you just need to get the first hit on them. i was testing it out in duel arena (well, somsone was using it on me) and they hit me first. we were face to face. i dropped from level 72 to level 40 defense in that one hit (he hit an 8). i dont know if this is a glitch, but i'm pretty sure you dont need to have to be behind what you are attacking, just get the first hit.
