well what ur friend is doing is scamming. its totaly scamming. i mean serioiulsy its not even a questions (no offfense) if they are noobs and they dont know any better then yea its scamming. if not then they are just really stupid players. i dont know why other ppl say its not scamming but i tink it is. what part of being a NOOB DONT U UNDERSTAND..... sry thats just what i think it is

not skaming i did the same wiht cow hides bought them for 5-15 gp ea from workers :)) and selled for 180 200ea but this was long time ago :)

Not scamming. The low levels don't know the prices, but they could look them up. There's no excuse for ignorance, they say :P

 

 

 

Still, it's not a nice thing to do :shame: on the other hand, it's not like it happens in real life, with companies hiring people from other countries because they can pay those people less and get away with it.

I got into a fight with my friend the other day about this. He's hiring noobs to mine him iron for 20gp each, 80gp less than usual. They don't know any better, so do it, and he makes huge profits off them.

definitely not scamming. i do this alot with hiring noobs to run ess with me to and from bank and altars. i dont rip em off too much tho. always between 100-300gp each trip

While hes not a scammer I wouldn't consider him a nice person either.

Its not scamming, those newbies should look up the price themselves, but on the other hand, as others have stated, it is ethically wrong.

What are current market prices driven by? They're driven by the average price that people are willing to pay for items! This is on the low end of the average sure, but once more: Both parties are satisfied.

 

 

 

Your friend is satisfied because he feels that he's getting a good deal (and why shouldn't he?).

 

 

 

His employees are satisfied because they have a reliable, continuous source of revenue. They've got a happy customer with an almost sure-fire guarantee that he'll keep coming back for more. What do you think wholesale is all about?

 

 

 

Truth be told, I've been known to underbid the market price to speed up my sales. I'm not getting scammed just because I could get more if I looked elsewhere and I wouldn't consider it a scam even if I'm ignorant of the going rate.

Your friend is giving the newbies a raw deal but if they accept the terms it's their own fault for not checking. That's what I think :-k

Tsk tsk... If they don't know the prices it isn't technically illegal...but on the other hand it isn't very fair... It's something most players would feel is wrong, but not a bannable or reportable offence. There's my 2 cents,

It's absolutely no scamming. Scamming is deceiving people. There's no sign of that in this case. There's an agreement between 2 people. Both parties agreed, so what's wrong then? Unless he's claiming that he is paying them well, it's just fair.

btw, isn't this like the same thing that the big american companies do?? industrialize into other countries like china or mexico, so that the foreigners are happy being paid a fraction of what they'd have to pay american workers?!!?!

Actually, Iron ore is not at a set price of 100 gp. People do not set prices, but the price is what people are willing to pay for it. So, no item in RuneScape has an actual price. It is just an estimation of what people are willing to pay.

its not going to last for long. Trust me. I used to do it, but on their way to the bank people advertised that they were buying iron ore for about twice of what I paid, which caused me to run out of business.
