Pigstein
Hello. I always listen to music before an important sports performance (e.g: match, of any type). It helps me get in the mood of what I have to do. For example when I play football (soccer), I play central defence (Fullback), I am a Nobby Styles kind of player (a.k.a, hard as nails, tough geezer) I often start off listening to something like: Eminem - lose yourself. I don't particularly like rap, but it helps me get in a good mood with that; you've got one shot, one opportunity stuff... Then I listen to something a bit harder, this kind of F-you music, I guess it helps me over come fear of my opponents and that I go in hard into situations etc.. Anyway I was wondering does anyone else do this and if you do, could you suggest some songs for me please ;) cheers, Pigstein.

Ragen
Good pump up music? I recommend the following : Metallica - Master of Puppets Foo Fighters - In your honour Iron Maiden - The Trooper Dragonforce - Through Fire and Flames And if you have a good 20 mins on your own before the match then listen to Dream Theater - Octavarium. There! That should give you a nice emotional cocktail. BTW I can't see how you'd ever need to get so pumped up for a game of football. Whenever I play, I have to stay calm and focus. Rugby on the other hand, I get really pumped up and when I have the ball you get 11 stone of crazy belting down the pitch at you. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar! blushenka
Anything by Rhapsody. Well, actually, anything power metal. "Yes you can" by Jewel. I listen to that before exams. :P "Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."
Nadril
Therion - The wonderous world of punt. listen to the entire song before judging it by the way :). You will see what I mean when it gets to about 4:00 in the song (about it being a good 'pump up' song) :D

Scruffy5389
I've actually heard that classical music is really good before a sport match because it allows you to relax and focus and keep your cool. But I personally prefer Metallica - Fade to Black, especially the intro and the killer guitar solo at the end. 8-) Guns N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle is pretty good, too. Phil
I play central defence (Fullback) make your mind up :P I guess you mean centreback instead of full? Same position as me. Anyway yeah we used to listen to some rap on the way to the 5s games, but these days I don't listen to anything before a match. I've never noticed a real difference in how up for a game I am if I listened to music or not beforehand.
