Suggestion One: Drill Demon, Emotes

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
:-k I beleive, after reading my title, you know what this suggestion is. But I will explain it anywayz. Everybody knows the random event Drill Demon right? It's where the Orange guy comes and takes you to a military course and you have to do "sit ups", "push ups", and "jogs". It's a simple event and actually has DECENT looking clothing. Yet, somehow after obtaining all the parts of the camo, your unable to get the emotes like "The Mime" and events like that. The 3 new emotes would be appreciated by some levels to do while there waiting in castle wars maybe? When i'm there, i've seen alot of people do the new emotes including bunny hop quiet often while they wait. So, what harm could it be to add these emotes. There's pretty much no harm whatsoever, i'm sure some lucky people have gotten Drill Demon *after* they have full camo (I don't even have full :twisted: ) and I don't know what exactly you get after completing the random event, probably a few coins.
EDIT: A player who responded to my thread said he's gotten 2 Drill Demons since he received full cammo, and said he received a meisely 500gp. I'm sure he'd want emotes aswell, i mean, who wouldn't?!
<><><><><><><><><><>
Post(s) that'll probably come up:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
1) "There's no point in this because the Drill Demon is uncommen enough and i'd rather get a peice of clothing then a stupid emote that I will probably never use! You noob!"
<><><><><>
My response:
^^^^^^^^^^
1) "Well, visit the rantz section on the runescape forums and look at some of the posts about random events. Hopefully, Jagex will listen and will take out some events (doubt it) but if they do then the Drill Demon will pop up more often and give out the prizes more often."
Suggestion Two: Activity Message Option
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Everybody knows runescape gets quiet repetetive right? Well why not add an option in the little tools tab (located on the bottom right of inventory beside "Log Out" button) which would stop the activity messages from clogging up your chat window which would cause you to not be able to see the messages whether your buying something or chatting with friends.

Repetetive skills:

Fletching: "You fletch a bow"

Eating food: "You eat a lobster"

Mining Ores: "You mine a coal ore"

Fishing: "You catch a lobster"

Smithing: "You smith _____ into a ______"

Herblore: "You make a ______ potion"

Firemaking(I think): "You burn these logs to make a fire"

There may be more, but the bottom lign is, some people like to chat, so why not let them. So please Jagex add a option to turn off activity messages!

:!: These Repetetive quotes may not be accurate but PLEASE do NOT post about these being inaccurate or adding another skill :!:

<><><><><><><><><><>

Post(s) that'll probably come up

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

1) "The game itself is quiet repetetive, don't like it? QUIT!"

<><><><>

My response

^^^^^^^^

1) "It's just a suggestion so people like me can actually talk with our friends, 'cause i actually have some."

Suggestion Three: Forums Titles And Post Deleting

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyways, my suggestion for the Runescape Forums are simple. Be able to edit our titles. I mean, now with the new censor lots of things seem to be getting censored. Which we should be able to edit it, without asking a mod to do so, saving THEM time, and making our titles a bit more eye catching, or a different catchy title if nobody is visiting it. And also, spelling mistakes by accident, i know people could always re-look it, but with the fear of runescape forums logging you out before you get to post your thread, you want to get that thread done as fast as possible.
Post deleting, why not allow it? People press the little send button twice (by accident, i think) and makes a double post, which causes spam. Jagex can fix this easily, by just adding a little "Delete Option" so people can delete there OWN posts that they put.
<><><><><><><><><><><>
Post(s) that'll probably come up:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
1) "Don't use the forums if you don't like how it's set up!"
2) "Why would Jagex bother?"
<><><><><>
My response:
^^^^^^^^^^
1) "I do beleive that the forums are entitled to ALL players that pay for MEMBERSHIP."
2) "Jagex would most likely bother because it would reduce the ammount of spam, and save mods time."
Suggestion Four: Report Thread Option
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well I originally got this idea from the Tip.It forums so why not also save some mods some time by reporting a thread whether it's in the wrong forum, naming other players or breaking various other rules. After it being reported, a mod checks it out and locks it if it breaks the rules. False reports might happen, yes. But why not have it like the Report Abuse button on the actual Runescape game. If you misuse this option, then you will be banned, or maybe even start another 3 or 4 strike policy. Also, what harm could this do? It woudn't do any harm whatsoever and would probably save mods some time to fix some bugs, add some updates and all that. I'm sure all Runescape players would love it.

<><><><><><><><><><>

Post(s) that'll probably come up

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

1) "Don't copy Tip.It, it was there idea and leave it at that!"

<><><><><>

My response(s)

^^^^^^^^^^

1) "Well, it WAS just a suggestion, and i am entitled to my opinion, and it'd save some time for Jagex. Good job Tip.It for coming up with the great idea."

**Everybody is entitled to there opinion, if you disagree please say WHY or it'll most likely lead to me ignoring your post. If you agree that's great! :thumbsup: **

Note: Thanks to everybody that does agree or the people who don't that give a detailed explanation why they don't disagree!

Nice layout in your first post btw. Here's my two cents:

The locking/deleting your own post would be a nightmare for Jagex if implemented I would imagine. Not so much post locking as the deletion part. An important part of a forum is the ability to determine what's happening when a problem arises. If people were allowed to delete their own posts they would be able to post nearly anything and delete it before a mod got a chance to look at it. Furthermore there would be no proof of what had happened.

I wouldn't mind some emotes for some of the "older" randoms. Though I'd rather have my freaky forester "yodel" emote before anything to do with the drill demon. ::'

The activity messages are one of the most annoying things when you're trying to carry on a conversation while crafting 5k coifs for example. Scrolling up every time you finish an inventory just to see what someone has said I could do without. As a suitable alternative, I'd settle for one message when you start an activity and one when it's done. No need to have the fact that I smelted a bar of iron written 28 times. Less is more. :mrgreen:

Well thanks for the agreement on activity messages, if it was an

agreement. :-k.

But, getting emotes for more random events was pretty much my point, i just forgot about the Freaky Forester. (my bad) But getting Drill Demon emotes still wouldn't decrease the ammount of Freaky Foresters you get.

And I was only saying that I want to be able to delete your post(s)because often people double post by accident. Maybe my second point in that suggestion about locking you thread though was a bad idea.

Suggestion One: Forums Locking And Post Deleting

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anywayz, my suggestion for the Runescape Forums are simple. I'm sure lots of runescape members have made a rant/suggestion and have been flamed or whatever and get sick of it so they tell a mod to lock it. So why not be able to do it yourself, and save some mods some time ? What harm could it do? I mean, it's locking your OWN thread...Not somebody elses!
Recently added: Post deleting, why not allow it? People press the little send button twice (by accident, i think) and makes a double post, which causes spam. Jagex can fix this easily, by just adding a little "Delete Option" That's it for my forum suggestion, read my other(s)!
Maybe the forums locking wouldn't be such a great idea, but i still like my post deleting one :!:
Bump
Don't bump your topics...if people aren't replying then there's probably a reason for it.
There, I replied, like you begged me to do. You never said I had to be on topic, and all that begging makes you look...well, noobish. Sorry if that's harsh, but it's true and I'm too cranky at the moment to soften it up.
Lemme start by saying i'll consider that spam a bump to my thread <.< =;
:XD: You're pretty funny....And bumping my threads take them to the top of the list? What's wrong with that? See, 'cause i actually monitor my threads and i wasn't begging people...I just wanted to see people's replies before i get membership back and I wanted to see if i should actually post this on runescape official forums. Considering It's spam what you wrote off topic, please leave my thread alone if your not going to post thoughtful replies *ON-TOPIC* please. And the reason not many people reply, is because after they see my first post, they be lazy and think it's long, so don't bother reading it and therefor ignore the first post which they shouldn't. <.< :notalk:
Ok, my two cents worth (four cents, since there are four suggestions...)
I'll throw in another nickel regarding how this thread has devolved (One more penny and you'll get a dime.)
Suggestions:
1. Drill Demon emotes. I must say I've never gotten that random, so I really don't know anything about it. More emotes doesn't thrill me, but it doesn't bother me either.
2. Activity message option. On the surface I like this, but I see problems with it. Mainly because these messages also tell you when you are done doing "X" things. (You have run out of logs...) I think the better solution to this is to do a variation of the split chat (friends/public) and instead of splitting out the friends, split out these messages. I don't think there's room for 3 message areas on the screen, but providing an option as to which messages you want split out might be a reasonable alternative.
3. Forum titles and post deletion. Are you talking about here on tip it (where you can edit your title, but not delete your post), or in RS's forums (where you can't do either)? I'll agree with the comments previously made about this - Allowing too much freedom can cause a major headache when moderating. Having been a moderator/administrator on a couple other forums, I know how hard it is to keep track of stuff. Giving the users too much freedom would drive the mods absolutely crazy (more crazy than they already are, perhaps? jk)
4. Report thread option. The RS forum has a special thread in the General area for reporting "emergencies." Anything else, their mods are pretty active and vigilent. As for copying Tip.it's idea, I doubt Tip.it originated it since this option is available on nearly every other forum I've visited. (I think it's a standard feature in phpBB based forums).
Now the nickel. The reasons why you should or shouldn't bump your own thread, and why this thread really hasn't gotten a lot of traffic.
Bumping threads in the RS Forum is a necessity because the first page only holds a few thread titles (15 or 20 if I remember) and the user-traffic is so high that a thread can only be expected to remain on the first page for a minute or two at best. However, here on Tip.it, the traffic isn't as great. Threads will remain on the first page for a day or two, if not longer (depending upon which category). This is plenty of time for other users to view your ideas and think about them. And comment if they wish.
Now why hasn't this thread gotten much traffic? Two reasons, really.
1. The ideas presented here really don't represent radical change to the game - either in game play or by satisfying the needs and desires of most players.
2. The ideas present here aren't especially controversial. People post in a suggestion thread when the feel the emotional need to do so. Does the suggestion bring out enough desire to hit that "reply" button? When I read this thread the first time, the answer was "no." When I read it again, and saw the discussion about bumping, that raised my "reply to" level just high enough to hit the button and type this message. And I'm talking just.
Anyway, that's my nine cents. Take it or leave it as you choose.
i think your second idea is the most useful. just like in the settings screen you can split private chat, as well as under the chat box you can turn public chat off or on or to friends. in fact, you have total flexibility over how you view chat from other players, and absolutely no control over the in game messages. i think an extra button could be put under the chat window next to "trade/compete" and "report abuse" that says "status text" or something to that effect, and you could set it to on, skills, quests, off or some other settings i might have to think about
i'd like something along these lines. the idea could be developed and possibly put in the game. it adds control to the chat window and wouldnt hurt the game at all, as far as i can tell
I like the idea, but I have one problem with it. There are some random events that come up on that dialog box. I'd say, yes, keep the random events, xp events and mute those repetitive events, it would make things clearer. That should make it work better
Plus they should make more sounds when bird nests fall. I tend to miss them cause I can't hear them!! Chirping would be nice.
Actually I usually hide the chat anyway (I can still see it but it doesn't come up in the window). That way, I can do trades faster.
