Molaron
who likes them and who doesent, reasons and coments on their music and guitar player... I like them and i erally enjoy listening them. sure there r a few song that r to hard to listen but its normal. Listen to the quality of the album and judge r they the best prog-metal band in world.. apinagez
They are kinda good, they've got skill too. But I feel that they lack a little bit creativity, not sure why. Also, their vocalist voice reminds me of a britpop singer's. They aren't the best prog rock band ever. ^The most disturbing signature on Tip.it^Last.fm|HELLY KAYLA!|Oh the mehagurtz!|#Siencemakers"they care less about their spelling mistakes then I." - Lionheart"apinagez... let me

Ragen
I agree that they are probally the best Prog - Rock/ Metal band around. They are the best prog mental band ever imo. The guitarist is very very good, but so are all the other members. People say that they lack creativity, but I think the oposite; Dream Theater experiment with all kinds of rock from Heavy metal (Honour thy Father) to acoustic pop (Hollow years). There epic songs are my favourites of all time. A Change of Seasons totally changed the way I listen to music and Octavarium moves me like no other song. They are my current favourite band and possibally my favourite band of all time (Chili Peppers are the other contender). Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar! Lateralus
All incredible musicians, especially Petrucci and Portnoy. Images and Words is a fantastic album as well. Apart from that, I'm not really too into them. They're quite weak on the lyrical front. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.
Molaron
yes, theyre lyrics r a bit low...All musicians r really great and well educated in theyre instrument. my favorite album is Scenes from a memory and train of thought. When u listed to "fatal tragedy" it is so....i cant describe. The song is so good. Ive seen many live gigs from them. I think they r very creative. every song has about 10 riffs that can be found on 1 album of some other bands. The song r harmonic and technicly correct and it all fits. today they r old and they cant be crazy on stage like 15 years ago. I saw Petrucci 15 years ago wit long hair and he banged that guitar and head like there was no tommorow, they were al crazy. Singer is, i agree, a little akward. but its what they want. They r all jazz players and they all like jazz which is relly good music and quality music. Theyre idol is mostly Pink Floyd. Only myng, portnoy petrucci stayed in 1st set of the band. Listen to Liquid tension experiment...Its like theater ppl mostly but different music. its also exelent. How2PK
I got an album of them, listened to a few others. They're okay, more on the techinical level, I reckon. Which proves once more that you can have a band with great technical players, but that's no guarenty you get the magic done. Faux
He's from the Netherlands. I never really bothered with Dream Theatre. Maybe I'll try a song or two from them later. :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
Make7upu101
I used to hang out with these kids who were all dream theater freaks and they were constantly pushing it on me. Pretty much the only song I like is Take the Time. All the others sort of bore me.

Molaron
dark,darker,darko... darko is a croatian name, so i thought u were from croatia like me. anyway bak to the original topic of Dream Theater. or could we start another discussion....best guitar player...hmm,hmm. many compete and it probably cant be told whos the best but in ur opinion whos best. my favorite is Petrucci and my another favorite is Vai. i like Vai cause he is connected wit public, he is not acting like some god or something. he is just like us and thats cool. Ive been to dream theater in slovenia and w8ed for their autograph outside and they didnt even bother, sure i can understand they r tired of playing everyday and so on, but plz 1 autograph isnt much.no heres a story... my bro went to Vai in zgb (100 meters from out home Vai played), and i came after the concert. We w8ed a bout hour and a half and Vai came and started giving autographs. cool. I got one :D :D , and my bro already had one from slovenia and he had a picture of him and Vai, 8-) . My bro was w8ing and he started talking to a guy who turned out to be Vais nephew. and he was holding an pineapple. my bro asked him can he call Vai for 1 picture a nd he said sure. he gave me that pineapple and went for Vai in bus. When he came bak he had a handful of guitar pics and started giving them away. my bro got one. i was holding the pineapple. we got a picture with Vai and we went home. And i ate that pineapple.. :D he is truly a good person and hell of a guitar player. ok i g2g now... Uldric
On first hearing them, they sounded like they combined whatever instruments they could find lying around and made something that sounded like a garbled pile of poo. I still think that about a few of their songs, but I do like a few of them aswell.

People who love running up and down scales at 300bpm usually will like bands like Dream Theater. They're a good band though, I have their Scenes from a Memory live album on DVD
