Sometimes, I don't play it all that much though. Bob Marley, Lucky Dube and Gentleman are quite good.

Yesterday, while studying, I've been listening to the entire Bob Marley collection again, or at least the part of it I have. 10 hours of relaxation :)

I never have been able to exactly pinpoint what raggae is. -.-

To me it's definately in the guitar/bass and how it's played. Since I'm no musician I can't explain things how they should be, but it's the guitar. It's a common riff in every reggae song, and lots of use of bass.

Oh and another reggae song:

Capleton - That Day Will Come

Bob Marley is now like my all-time favorite musician. A friend introduced me to him by lettin me borrow his CD, and ever since, Marley's music is practically all i've been listening too this summer.

Practically every song is great. I heard Ziggy Marley on Jay Leno and Conan singing 'Love is my Religion', and it was awsome, so i'll probably try expanding to other reggae musicians as well.

The religious beliefs in those songs are practically EXACTLY what I've been thinking all this time....except I'm not black and not from jamaca and don't have thick dreadlocks....

I LOVE reggae!

Eek-a-mouse - Wah do dem, Baby Cham - Ghetto Story, anything with Sizzla in, Mr. Perfect - Nuh Badda Mi = My favourite songs at this point in time, without touching on bashment which i guess is kinda a branch off reggae...

Love bashment too, lol great to dance to. Although the moves are beginning to run dry... People are trying to wheelie bounce to EVERY DAMN SONG. Pfft that move goes with the WHEELIE BOUNCE RIDDIM YEAH? UGH. (Sorry kinda rambling... just a pet peeve.. lol)

  • 2 weeks later...

I love a bit of Bob Marley on a sunny summer's afternoon, Aswad are pretty good too.

I had to write a reggae song for music GCSE so i got to know the genre quite well. Still ended up sounding like garbage though, and not the band. :(
