August 12, 200619 yr http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=400099&in_page_id=17 A girl of 11 hanged herself after her mother banned her from watching Big Brother, an inquest heard yesterday. Yasmin Browder was found suspended from a bathroom door hook by her dressing gown belt tied around her neck. Her mother, Jill Morey, a 38-year-old care worker, tried to save her but she was pronounced dead at hospital. The inquest was told that Yasmin had been helping her mother decorate their home in Shoreham, West Sussex, in June when an argument broke out. As they began to pack up for the day, Yasmin protested about her mother leaving the decorating equipment in her bedroom. Miss Morey said: 'Everything was fine until the time when I said to her I was leaving the bucket, wallpaper and stripper in her room until the morning. 'She went totally out of character and started launching things out of her room. I said, "Why are you doing this?". She said, "I don't want it in my room".' Miss Morey said she went downstairs, leaving Yasmin 'stropping around' before she returned to her mother and said she intended to watch Big Brother. 'I told her she was not going to because she had misbehaved and that she was going to bed,' said Miss Morey. Ooook... So, for those too stupid/lazy to read the article; She and her mother were decorating. Her mother left the wallpapering equipment in her room, which she didn't want and had a paddy about it. She wanted to go watch Big Brother and was told she couldn't, so she went to "have a shower". Instead, she hung herself via her bath robe off a hook. Shocking to say the least. Anyone else have some thoughts on the matter? (I apologise if this has already been posted, I did not see a topic relating to this. :uhh: )

August 12, 200619 yr No way would someone hang themselves because they couldnt watch BB. Thats plain stupid, and as it says the mother said 'it was out of her charcater,' so either something was bothering her, or she wasted her life for a tv program :-s Things such a bullying would cause problems like this, i don't believe she did it because she got banned from watching tv, but then i don't really know the people so its hard to judge... August 12, 200619 yr Oddly, I would hang myself if I HAD to watch Big Brother. The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!
August 12, 200619 yr Too far. Anywayz the only reason there are reality programs is coz ppl can't pay writers. In the words of Homer Simpson "Stupid writers priced yourself right out of the business" Can sum1 change my spelling of business if it is wrong Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
August 12, 200619 yr Read that story in the paper this morning. There must have been some other reason.
August 12, 200619 yr ahaha, thats one good reason not to let your kids watch big brother from the beginning! they wont kill themselves if theyre not allowed to watch it as a punishment. anyway, i dont believe that that was the only reason. life is though when youre 11 years old
August 12, 200619 yr That can't be the sole reason - it was probably just the final straw. Exactly. The media loves to sensationalise. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
August 12, 200619 yr That can't be the sole reason - it was probably just the final straw. I came to this thread with the intention of posting exactly those words. Freaky. Anyway, I think that it was either other issues affecting her as well, or a sick way of getting back at her parents gone horribly wrong. She might have planned to shock her parents into removing the ban and killed herself by accident. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
August 12, 200619 yr For people who say it might been because of bullying, read this from the artical. Detective Constable Tim Hughes, of Sussex Police, said there was no history of bullying at school or any indication of self-harm in either her diary or text messages. West Sussex coroner Roger Stone said: 'This is one of the saddest cases I have had to deal with.'
August 12, 200619 yr But the facts are there... :? It was in a tabloid paper so the 'facts' must be taken with a pinch of salt. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

August 12, 200619 yr it's sad that she hung herself over some items in her room and and a T.V. show thats fake. this all could have been avoided if she had just accepted the fact that some items we're going to the corner of her room. but i feel for her parents
August 12, 200619 yr Yeah, there must have been other reasons behind it not just the banning of the show, i don't believe that anyone would kill themselves because they could not watch a bunch of lunatics sitting on their bums all day. SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.
