Gaia80890
I know im not the only one who currently listens to some of the older bands of the 80's - 90's. Im just wondering what your favorites from them are? I personaly like quite a few older Metal Bands. Motorhead, Twisted Sister, Metallica, ( They aren't really and old band but they are still awesome. ) Quiet Riot, Black Sabbath. And of course my two personal favorites of all time.. Motley Crue, And Pantera I'm not sure about everyone else but I really like older Metal music just because it gives that really stand up to the world feeling when you listen too it. Post your thoughts on what you think of Metal music from the 80's and 90's. Thank you :) Also Sorry if something like this has already been posted. ~/\~Edge~/\~

Ragen
I recommend Dream Theater. They have been around for about 25 years now and they are still going strong. I think that a lot of thier music has the 80's metal sound to it, even some of their new stuff. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar! Icingdeath
Pre-Load Metallica FTW. Now all they play is whiney nu metal. I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
xevanx
hmm, have you heard creeping death? its off of metallica's new album. i would suggest that.. you from now on call it the 1992-2001... lol whiney nu metal? im sorry, but when was it ever "whiney"? Sir_Alex85
Iron Maiden DIO Judas Priest Deep Purple! Rainbow (with Dio.. Post Dio was blah) Pre-load Metallica (DUHZ) Twisted Sister Poison Motley Crue Van Halen (In here) Black Sabbath (w/ Ozzy, Dio, Gillan) Anthrax Megadeth Motorhead Iron Butterfly (In the time of our lives-- what a sweet song) Dokken Savatage Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force Tesla Quiet Riot Ozzy Osbourne (Randy Rhoads) GnR (Appetite For Destruction... awesomegreat) And yeah. Just some bands there. Mind you, it's not all older Metal (GnR released their debut in what? '87?) And some of the hair or glam metal or whatever bands in there are from the mid 80's. But ehh. That's a somewhat good list. It really has
xevanx
AFD by GNR was released in 86 but never received a good reveiw until 87. and why black sabbath w/ gillan? born again was one of sabbath's main downfalls. instability with deep purple as well. also I highly agree wiht you on saying Rainbow with Ronnie james dio, streets of dreams, stargazer, temple of the king..etc. I agree with many of you that ozzy osbourne was a great band but why is everyone hating on zakk wylde or aaron e Lee. E Lee was the bark at the moon/blizzard of ozz guitarist, which is considered ozzy's best album. I highly disagree with motley crue being a metal band, not for being glam, but for not being true musicians. I agree that Tommy Lee, and Mars are great however nikki sixx who started the band with tommy, knew nothign of the bass. and if you look at tab or 8 chords, you will be sadly mistaken if you think they were musicians. Neil, has a terrible stage voice and presence, sixx is the worst at the bass, mars always used the same chords, and progression.. Tommy lee is the only one that had any actual success after Crue, because he was the only true musician. music = money in the eyes of a band and record labels nowadays. whatever happened to doing for passion? Van Halen pre 1984 was fantastic example of california rock. without synth and eddie's fantastic and innovative fingering. van halen I is clerly a great cali metal album. Eruption, one word...#2 best guitar solo ever. I must ask what makes quiet riot metal? metal health was a cover album more or less. there main song was originally by space rockers Slade. the rest of the album sucked. but i respect all fo your opinions. nice list alex, and lady. these are just some of my opinions. PS. Megadeth..the truest band in alex's list. pure/pristine musicianship in that band
Sir_Alex85
and why black sabbath w/ gillan? born again was one of sabbath's main downfalls. instability with deep purple as well. I liked it. Disturbing The Priest, Digital [bleep], Stonehenge. ;P Probably just because I'm a big fan of Sabbath and Deep Purple, it kinda clicks together I suppose. Van Halen pre 1984 was fantastic example of california rock. without synth and eddie's fantastic and innovative fingering. van halen I is clerly a great cali metal album. Eruption, one word...#2 best guitar solo ever. Hell yes. Even 1984 had some awesome rock hits. Top Jimmy? Awesome stuff. Though, I'd say their best albums were probably Van Halen I and II, or Fair Warning. Pretty good stuff in your post dude. ;P It really has
hohto
hmm, have you heard creeping death? its off of metallica's new album. Creeping death on their newest album? Dude did your biological clock stop its run in 1984? Dude, it's 7th song on Metallica's 2nd album. Anyways back to the topic. Thrash fans might (SHOULD!) remember names like Exodus, Anthrax, Kreator or Destruction. Also a band called Death should be mentioned here. I'd rather die for what I believe in than live for anything else.Name Removed by Administrator ~Turtlefemm
