::UPDATE::

After taking in some CC and comments, here is where I got to.

I used only the Pen tool, Brush tool and Eyedropper tool.

Here's where I plead for mercy, I mean C/C:

First vector, i've always wanted to try it. I read a few tuts beforehand, all saying the same thing but I think the technique speaks for itself really.

No I did not do the lazy vector. (Filter -> Artistic -> Cutout)

And yes the eyes are freaky. That's what I really need to improve on.

All I ask is that you are fully honest. Don't try and give me an ego boost with "9/10 awesome for first", be honest.

I'm looking for helpful tips towards a better vector.

Thanks and "c/c plox".

cad that is awesome i love it - its so good...no cc needed lol - wkd stuff.

Lmao freaky eyes

I think the technique is good but the original picture has odd lighting. and yes, there eyes are freaky.

Overall it is not bad, you just need to focus more on the details as you said yourself the eyes, muzzle etc. Pick out the folds and lines that make the eye or mouth what they are and be sure to vector them into your image.

(but i'm too simplistic, so what would i know :notalk: )

Dude drop it now, gudges won't get anywhere. Cad gave you an opinion you asked for and you're holding against them.

I think it looks good except for the eyes mabye need a little work (but i'm too simplistic, so what would i know :notalk: )

dude.. i just lost respect for you after reading that... someone who doesnt like your sigand also gives you constructive critcism on WHY. and you go to his thread and take it personally....

sigh... how long does it take to get the Graphics unlimited validation email to come?

on topic: honestly it just looks ok, i honestly think it would look better with more detail though, by the way he was vectored, the shine looks more like somne type of deformation

American Anime... YAY!

It needs black.

Black nose and eyes.

as said before the eyes, they won't stop staring!!! aggghhh! yeah lol, and maybe some black? or a darker brown to define the nose a bit more

Sig by me....

Needs some black to give it depth.

Rofl I Just clicked the "Eyes are freaky" link that I missed earlier:

XD

beautifully done, anyone thats done a vector before (before starting one i didnt fully apreciate how much work goes into doing one) can really apriciate how much hard work you've put into it.

CC would have to be, dont be afraid to put some black in there, extreame contrast is what ive always believed made vectors so great.

Personally i love it, so dont go kicking yourself about it.

Black flat

Very nice, But it could use more depth to show detail

Such as a little black/darker colors, and as everyone has said, the eyes are a bit.. off?

I'm working from that photo, I can't help the lighting from it. :?

Check what happens when I remove my background colour:

Just shows that I suck at brushing close together with a mouse. :-$

Looks like a nice mosaic effect though.

After taking in to account comments and CC, here is an updated version:

boxervectorupdatevd6.png

Still not too sure about the eyes, I added a slight shadow and shine to them.

Any further CC or comments anyone?

knkcopy.jpg

Much better, not much to say except to fix the left eye a bit, looks almost the same.
