Home remedies

Featured Replies

Hey you guys? I just got a new lighter and, in testing it out, promptly melted a 1x1 foot section of my bedroom wall. I was stupid enough to run my hand into the mass of bubbling goo on my floor, but luckily only the very tip of my pinky finger was burned. That little bit, however, hurts like you couldn't possibly understand.

Anyone have any home-made burn remedies? (Topical stuff only. I'm not taking any pills. O_o)

However I am a realist and therefore know that I probably wont be able to.

I would invest in some Aloe Vera gel. "Fruit of the Earth 100% Aloe Vera Gel" is the best one. I use that for so many different things...Cuts, burns, lotion, hair gel...It's teh pwn. :P

Or some good old Neosporin, I guess.

Why would you melt down a piece of your bedroom wall...?

A piece of wood is useful to, when testing a lightner :-s

What the? You guys believe in shaman tricks to heal burns?

Just use flamazine, or another tube of anti-burn gel.

Ignore the pain. Take it like a real man.

When the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!

Hold it under a running tap of cold water. Do not use ice.

But that only helps like, directly after the burning.

When I small I burned all my fingertips after picking up a hot pan. Got blisters on most fingers. Only way I could get it from stop hurting was to sit all night with my hands in a bowl of cold water. :P

dude, what is your bedroom made out of? ice cream?

just go to CVS or something and get something with aloe vera. it usually works, for me anyways...

I find for slightly more painful burns (still 1st degree) that remain painful for some hours, holding it under running water (or submersing it in cold water) continues to relieve pain, even if it doesn't help the burn itself.

Yea, true. It cools things down a bit. But doesn't help the burn. That was it. :)

Try using "Lanicane." It comes in a can that kind of looks like Raid, only it's not.

Ever had sunburn before? (same concept as a burn, only you know...worse...)

Ever put Aloe Vera Gel on it and felt that "OMFG YES!" comfort?

End of story. Things were put on the Earth for us to use them. If it works, it works.

Aloe vera ftw!! Yeah, I love that stuff, and I have been using it since I was really young. We actually had an aloe vera plant in our plant room.

Aloe vera definately

Thanks for suggestions (although Neosporin is hardly a homemade recipe).

I have some aloe vera plants in my greenhouse, but all they did was make it all inflamed and turn grey. What i ened up doing was pouring a glass of ice water, and then sitting at the desk with it in front of me. I'd immerse my pinky momentarily, then play RS, then when it started to hurt again (every 30-45 seconds o_O) I'd dip it back in there.

It doesn't hurt anymore, although it did turn a nasty shade of .. some color I can't even name.

Directly after a burn you should wrap a thin layer of cling-film around the inflamed area and submerge it in cold water for 3-20 minutes depending on the degree.

dude, what is your bedroom made out of?

I'm kind of wondering the same thing.. If I were to put a lighter to my wall.. Well it would quickly turn black and shortly after I'd have to evacuate the house and call 911..

Lol YES. Unless I was like, mindlessly pulling off plaster/paint/wallpaper and holding them to the flame I have no idea what made you do it... :uhh:

I've had 3rd degree burns all over my face once, so yeah. I've had burns all right. But I've never put that on burns. I'll think of it next time something stupid happens to me.
