d3nic
Hey. I'm sorry if I'm sounding like an idiot here, but I want to know if a 6600GT 128MB Graphics card will play RuneScape ok. My system specs are : Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0GHz 2 GIG Ram... I current use a 64MB graphics card and it goes really laggy when I'm in busy areas. Thanks in advance. - Denic. Nadril
umm... your lagging on something with that already? Honestly, it's not your video card mate. 2GB of ram and a 3.0Ghz P4 should do it.
d3nic
:o When I go to fally work 2.... It's like slide show mode.... Soooo laggy. When I played it on my 6800 it ran fine!
Stuart_G
I think every one gets lag to some extent on world 2 fally, no matter how great their computer is. But yeah, a 6600GT will play RS fine, so will the 64MB on-board graphics for that matter.
deloriagod
It gets laggy because of your internet connection. I have a 1.73GHz processor, 1gb ram, 256mb nVidia GeForce 6600GO and I only lag on games when my computer is getting too hot (I have a notebook so the fan is hard to get exposed to the air) or when something is wrong with my internet (I play on wireless so problems aren't uncommon for me). Bubsa
It's more likely to be your connection causing the problem, than anything else. I mean, those specs are about 30x greater than the minimum requirements. :| This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
Guest r3dh3adkid
Its either the server (runescapes server) or your internet connection. With a system like that there is NO way it would be your computer
Dragon_Scyth
yep i have a AMD 4000+ 64 bit 7900GTX 512MB GFX Card 2 Gig OCZ Pro Goldkit Ram And a 1.5MBIT Connection (fastest where i live) And i can still get slight lag in fali world 2 =) "Boredom got me playing, Boredom stops me from playing. d3nic
Oh, right, thanks for the information guys... I dont know if to buy the 6600GT just for RuneScape.... I think I'm going to stick with the 64MB on board.
Doomster
Does java even USE any graphics acceleration? Actually, the beta version (J2SE 6.0) has both Direct3D and OpenGL pipelines, but makes little use of them by default.
username388
No it doesn't. If the beta does use D3d and OpenGL it wouldn't make a difference anyway. Jagex would have to recode the game to make use of them.

d3nic
So guys, my computer should play RuneScape fine, and I dont need to buy a graphics card?
Cruiser
So guys, my computer should play RuneScape fine, and I dont need to buy a graphics card? It should run RS perfectly fine, and no you don't need the card. My little 1ghz AMD plays RS flawlessly with it's onboard video. It's definatly not your hardware. If you're running on dialup, there's a good chance that may be the reason. If you have DSL or cable, then you may want to run a quick spyware/virus scan, just to be sure that isn't the cause. Gordo525
our computer is fine.I use a DELL Dimension 5000, which has built in video and sound cards, and it still runs slow. The system requirements for RuneScape are stupidly low, I could probably run them on a Pac Man arcade machine with a telephone welded on the side of it. I know exactly what you mean, its just ruining the whole game for everybody, this is the worst update since noobs.

That little phrase doesnt make much sence....AMD makes processors....not video cards or motherboards...if it has onboard video then that deals with the motherboard not the processor... Made perfect sense to me, what he is saying is that his system with a 1GHz AMD and onboard video can play RS just fine.
d3nic
Guys, seriously, something isn't right with my PC then?? I go to fally world 2, and it just lags out completly, it wasn't like this when I had my 6800 GFx card... I have no spyware, and my internet connection is 2MB, which is plenty! Just to put it in perspective, my dad had it running Win 95 when he first bought the box. It's still more than enough to play RS smoothly though. The thing is a dinosaur and has zero to do with the ATI deal. r3dh3adkid: Java is CPU driven. You could play RS on 2mb video memory if you wanted. Your video would just be scaled back over the entire system, not just RS. As for d3nic's issues, I'm out of ideas. :?
d3nic
Are you sure RuneScape doesn't use the graphics card? Because when I switch it to low detail it goes so much smoother. :?

Fadfdfd
xD You can play Runescape on anything dude, just look at the graphics. But ya, that would be fine, lol that's better than mine. It's nVidia GeForce? Ya, you'll be able to run that, and battlefield 2, and the sims 2 at the same time. 2 GB RAM FTW!
