September 5, 200619 yr Hey guys. Recently, my body clock has been really messed up and now I want to sort it out. I'm planning on going to sleep at 11PM, and waking at about 9AM. Can any one give me some tips to stay awake, as I don't want to go to sleep before 11. Thanks.
September 5, 200619 yr Stay active.. Get someone to stay with you until 11 so if you start to fall asleep they can wake you up.. Caffine? Internet Marketing For Newbies
September 5, 200619 yr Listen to some music or watch tv ect. But NOT in bed. As soon as you get comfortable in bed you are likely to fall asleep. But why do you want to stat awake until 11, if you are feeling tired much before that then maybe you really do need more sleep, its not "messed up" at all. September 5, 200619 yr You can have my insomnia if you want! I haven't been able to sleep properly all summer. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
September 5, 200619 yr I had the EXACT same problem... Too much going out at night time left me sleeping throughout the day. If you don't want to sleep, stay WELL clear of your bed. Try to keep yuorself occupied as things like television just get you sleepy, go for a walk or something, get your friends round. Caffeine I guess as well. Don't assume that you will be able to just "rest your eyes", it doesn't work :D SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.
September 5, 200619 yr Author Im just on my PC, and I see my nice comfy bed in the corner of my eye! So so tempting! I'm going asleep at the keyboard as I type.... Also, if I went to sleep now, I would be awake all through the night, and I don't want to do that. :( I'm on my second cup of coffee, and it's not working! :(
September 5, 200619 yr a humans body is designed to take a nap during the day, this is perfectly natural. i'd love to function on less sleep. i can sleep 11 hours and still need a nap during the day Runescape nick : Fat_SlugOwner of Ears, Scythe and a 10 year veteran cape :D
September 5, 200619 yr I'm on my second cup of coffee, and it's not working! :( Not coffee - once it wears off you crash. Try eating an apple.
September 5, 200619 yr I had to do night shifts last weekend at the Reading Festival, doing that for about 5 days and then trying to get back to normal screws up your body clock nicely!! My tips are to stay intently focussed on something, don't play Runescape as many of the things are very repetitive and you WILL fall asleep. Open the window, keep a breeze going, get up, do something. Don't read, try doing some exercise. The endorphines and adrenaline will keep you awake. Other than that, drink coffee until you want to go to sleep. If you keep topping yourself up, and have your last cup about an hour before you want to go to sleep, you will keep going until you want to sleep then you will crash at about 11 O'clock. Perfect! Sleep for as long as you need to, don't wake yourself up. Then you should be able to run through to 11 O'clock the next day, and hey presto, you're normal again! 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength
September 5, 200619 yr In all seriousness*: 1. Red Bull or V in the morning 2. Two of the above in the afternoon / evening. 3. If you start to feel drowsy, go out for a run / walk. 4. Come back and hit up on a cafinated drink. Do that 3 or 4 times a week for a month then lay off the drinks in the afternoon / evening. Another month after that drop the one in the morning and you'll be fine**. then you'll never have this problem again. * You really don't want to follow this advice unless you are looking for near-permanent changes to your body clock and sleep paterns ** Average 3-5 hours a night and be fine for the next day or two with little side effects

September 5, 200619 yr Go watch some horror films. I'd rather have a screwed over body clock than the insomnia I got after watching my first zombie film. I didn't properly sleep for about two weeks. Best thing to keep you awake is red bull. Down a few cans of that and enjoy your wings. If you want a coffee drink to keep you going, get an expresso or three. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
September 5, 200619 yr Did you know that apples keep you awake longer than coffee? Thats a proven fact, and I find, that to keep myslef awake, I need to eat apples. I eat three apples, then I lie down on some stones or unsmooth objects. It hurts, but it rests my body and I keep awake. The only problem is, if you accidentally fall asleep while lying on something, you wake up and you have some horrible strains from lying with your back up and head down. The human body is one of the most adaptable things on the planet, meaning there is no way to permanently change its internal chemical and hormonal patterns by merely having a different kind of lifestyle, i.e. you can't permanently change your body clock. On a sidenote, you want to aim for around 8 hours of sleep a night. If you go for 2 weeks having 6 hours of sleep a night, it is equivalent to staying awake for 48 hours solid. If you have ever done that, you will know that it is not funny! 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength
September 5, 200619 yr Hence "near-permanent", hobgoblin11 ;) It's a self-imposed subordinate of insomnia. You can "train" your body to get by with less sleep. And it takes less to "reset" it. I've been averaging 4-5 hours a night for the better part of 6 years and I'm fine. It's not rare for me to go for 40-50 hours without sleeping either. And, if I fall asleep around 10pm (like the rest of my family), I'll wake up about 3, maybe 4 am and be unable to fall asleep again, simply because my body has no reason for it. It's just the way I am. It'd take me the better part of a month to fix myself into a normal sleep pattern again.
September 5, 200619 yr Author Grrrrrr, I couldn't resist! I went to sleep for a few hours, just hope I can sleep tonight at 11! - Denic.
September 5, 200619 yr Try chaser 5 hour energy drinks. Drug stores sell em. They don't have a crash or anything. For energy, they're the best I've had. Not as much of a jitterness that others give you. a humans body is designed to take a nap during the day, this is perfectly natural. i'd love to function on less sleep. i can sleep 11 hours and still need a nap during the day You sure about that? I sleep 10 hours and never, ever feel the need for a nap (except when I'm back to school). Kinda funny though, I'm the exact opposite as you d3nic. School starts for me tomorrow, and I have to get up at 6AM instead of noon, so I gotta get used to falling asleep a lot earlier. I never have problems staying awake, just getting to sleep.
September 5, 200619 yr I once wanted to stay awake so naturally I thought about getting some coffee. I don't like drinking it though, so I thought I'd eat some. It tasted very very crap but it kept me awake very well.

September 5, 200619 yr Ah. I have a good solution. Set your alarm for the time you wish to wake up. Then, simply go to bed when you feel tired. The alarm should then wake you up the next day. Then go to bed that night once you start to feel tired. That's always been a charm for me. Runescape Name: "unbug07"Expand your mind.
