logic-is-overrated
There's no artificial way to suddenly gain discipline. If you really want to do something, just suck it up and do it. You'll find that things that start out being hard get easier the more you do them. This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

nightshade53
Pick a route, and run for 12 mins. Use the distance you get away from your house as a guide to how fit you are :)

Why's that so important for you? Do you want to run track or something? My advice is just to take a cold shower. That gets me pretty alert. Its very hard to get out of bed, but after you run you will be so glad you did. You will be more alert for school. It only takes 2 weeks to make a habit. Goodluck. Nah, plenty of people take cold showers in the morning to wake up. (Cold temperatures don't cause you to get sick though, only lower your immunity, and showers aren't dirty)
insane
I can't run early in the morning. I just run later at night. It works for me.
unknownmasterofnothing
The only way to gain motivation to do something is to look with in yourself. I've experienced this from high school, using caffiene to do the work. But I wasn't really motivated to do the work. The motivation is what you really need. If you really want to run, you'd do it. Purecheese
I can't run early in the morning. I just run later at night. It works for me.Going for a run early in the morning is a great way to wake up properly and a good start for a day. Then again it feels pretty awful most of the time, I run a lot better and easier in the evening/afternoon. If you're only just starting you'd do good to run in the evening, it's easier and that'll give you more motivation to keep up with it. There are some great tools on the internet that generate personalised training programs based on the information that you give. This site is a good example, it seems to have a lot of information on most aspects of running on it aswell (I use a dutch site :P ) You'll see that it has distance trainings, distance with a speed increase near the end and interval trainings. That last two or vital if you want to increase your speed (which is very hard), the first for your condition. Last but not least, set a goal! sign up for a race, make a schedule and train! Get some friends to join in and train for a race together. I participate in a few big races (10k - 20k participents) and the atmosphere is just awesome, plus it feels really good to finish something :D I signed up for half a marathon in januari and I'll be training (1:40:00?) 8-) Good luck! :)
TheSlayer
I'd have to agree with unknownmasterofnothing. All you need is motivation. It may seem like the worst idea of your life to get out of bed early each and every morning, but slowly it will become a ritual and it will will not be so bad. Furthermore, when you start to see your efforts paying off you become even motivated more. Militaris
Put the alarm clock on the other side of the room, that way you have to get up  I have done that, it does not work. Sure I get up, walk 5 steps, turn it off then climb back into bed. I put the alarm across that room, and it generally works. Just make sure you start getting dressed as soon as the alarm is off. If you stop and think about what you're doing you will end up back in bed. :|
Bubsa
There's a good benefit of running first thing in the morning. Due to your sleep and obvious lack of nutrition, you'll be running on low energy resources. This will cause your body to begin anaerobic respiration earlier, which is good for two things. One, if you're in training, you'll begin to feel what distances lactic acid begin hurting you and two, because the anaerobic respiration burns your fat reserve, you could lose a bit of weight. I was about to recommend eating an Apple as you got up, as they wake you up better than coffee would apparently, but do not do this. They do not digest very well which can cause discomfort in your running. If you really need something, try a banana. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. issy2
Hide your alarm clock under your pillow or something so you can't get to it when it goes off. Then, by the time it's turned off, you're fully awake and won't want to sleep again. O:)
Hobgoblin11
Getting up in the morning to go for a run is all about personal strength and willpower. As other people have said, set yourself a goal, a deadline a reason, and find yourself a motive to get up. The goal can be anything from wanting to lose half a stone, completing the run within 20 minutes, whatever, but it has to be SMART (Specific, Manageable, Assessable, Realistic, Time-Specific) The deadline part is pretty simple, around 3 months is good, but it depends on what your goal is. The motive is reasonably easy to find. You need a motive to get out of bed. If your goal is to lose weight, keep a weight chart, or a picture of yourself to remind you. If your target is to complete the run in a set time, keep charts of that. However, the motive I find helps most in getting me up for a run in the morning is pretty shallow - find a route to run along where you pass a nice girl! Really shallow I know, but it seriously works! Anyhow, good luck in achieving whatever your goal is. 99/99 Fletching, 99/99 Cooking, 96/99 Strength
