Pinkbullet3
A few days ago, I created a topic, Are you afraid to speak up...?, talking about whether or not you stuck up for admitting you play RS when the topic is brought up IRL. This time, I wanted to know if you have ever stuck up for a newb/noob. Now I know "newb" and "noob" are two completely different things, but no one's going to stop you from saying what you want. When I was ranging in the Hill Giants' cave, a level 18 (who defeated a Hill Giant, level 28, with Earth Strike and no food... yeah, I know.) came in and did the usual: running around gathering trash along the ground such as iron full helms, iron kites, and pocket change. There were 1-2 people saying things like, "Go some place else, noob." and "I h8 looters. Such noobs..." But I could tell he was just trying to innocently get some things. The only thing I said was, "It's tough when you're a newb. Just learn to deal with it." Your turn. Off topic: I just reached level 59 prayer today, and when I check the high scores, I happened to notice everyone on the same page above and below me were members. >.< How hard is it to bury 99% of the bones you get from killing all those monsters/humans? (I didn't buy any on purpose.) No bragging intended. ^ Blog.
Shyla
it takes 30 seconds (?) before an item becomes visible to other player and when it does, it's free for all cos obviously u chose not to pick it up. it's actually better than asking for free stuff, they risk going tho they know the hill giants will be aggressive. also, picking up iron stuff is looting? when i see people call newbs noob just cos they're asking questions i just say "hey play nice" and then answer the newb's question. sometimes i get a reply from them noobs "stfu noob i got a level 1xx acc i kill you!" i say bring it...noob shuts up. nightwolf06
hmm I would say that I always stick up for most lower levels that I see. (I'm level 59 so yeah I'm pretty ''noobish'' myself) I don't see what is wrong with picking up items, I ebt that person going ''go away looter'' has done it at some point whether they want to admit it or not. Plus they don't seem to realise that there's nothing wrong with it, the other person doesn't want it, so why can't they have it and make a few pennies out of it. :-k
Sharane
Hey, I used to do just that when I started. Nobody ever said anything... :-k "300 programmers make their futile but glorious last stand against 1000000 angry players in The battle of Misthalin. Iantiger
I usually just don't voice my opinion if there are people harassing a newb - after all the newb will more than likely move on in a short while, and I might be training with these other people for the rest of the day so I'd rather not get on the wrong side of them. I admit, it was so long ago that I was a newb myself, I can't even remember if anyone ever called me a newb, or a looter, etc. ~Ian Retired Tip It Moderator | Zybez Radio DJ - Listen Here
zubeedoo
I've stood up for my fair share of newbs. Back when I was powermining for lvl 85, there were lots and lots of them who'd gather the iron I was dropping. No problems here, they're not bothering anyone. Many of them actually ASKED me if they could pick up the iron I was dropping (one of the main reasons I dislike all the people who say that newbs are always rude). That usually put a smile on my face, seeing not only people being polite, but being polite without promting and with nothing in it for them (as they could pick up the ores either way). Now, for some reason, there would always be someone, usually a mage shooting at scorpions, who woud feel the need to yell out: "Lol noob he's powermining obviously he doesn't want the ores" Such people would get a good 5-10 minute lecture from me about the deteriorization of the rs community caused by people like him. Quit runescape, now playing EVE-Online(Mail Cambarus and say hi  )

Aijiru
When I was a lvl 25 ranger I used to spend hours on the hill giants... sometimes killing them when I managed to take someone on a safe spot, and always hearing those guys on full rune yelling "Go away n00b!!" "those giants are mine!" or something similar, when not stealing my iron arrows. I used to buy them and I wasn't that rich at that time, so I usually had to left when they picked my arrows... what could I do? The giant could hit me really hard and when not, someone usually took it... And when there weren't any giants I used to loot all the iron items on the ground, runes (once I found two laws and I was like :) I could easily make 5k on a trip and gain ranged experience. Now I'm a lvl 70, and sometimes I see people doing the same as me... why should this disturb me? I prefer to complaint about arrogant player, arrow-stealers, who I can say no one was lower than lvl60... (not saying all high lvls are arrogant and bad people! only pointing that they can do more damage thah low level looters, and it's not cos they need money) Currently having a break from sig-making...Join the campaign for more F2P bank space!Avatar by Born2die, tyvm! dargonhuman
I tend to not take sides in any event, but if it seems like the abuse is getting out of hand or extremely one-sided, I'll usually send off an Abuse Report on the abuser, and tell them to shut up. Why I usually don't take sides is because I never know if the abuse is serious or just two friends playing around; when my rl friends are actually on (an event that is rarer and rarer these days), we usually joke around by hurling "noob" insults at each other, then laugh in pms when others take us too seriously. Childish and immature, I know, but that's the way we are; at least we've stopped closing doors. So, no, I don't usually speak out against newb abuse, because I don't know if it really is abuse, but I will report it if it seems to get out of hand. Part of the Star Traks network. (^^Clicky!) Pinkbullet3
Yeah, I get what you mean. Sometimes the insulting gets wayyy out of hand (astericks flying everywhere... -_-") and then abuse reports have to be used. :ohnoes: ^ Blog.
