Everyone's thoughts on the new crossbows?

Hey guys i haven't been on RuneScape for a while and i noticed all these new crossbows? Whats everyones thoughts on them? Are they good? Bad? Useless?

 

 

 

Also a question from me: Can you use normal bolts with the new crossbows?

In my opinion, I'd stick with the good old MSB. SOME crossbow specs are ok, but they are too random.

hate them, im a bit scared of deep wildy now because ive ran into 4 ranger pk teams all with dstone bolts, and they kill me within 2 volleys....

actually its not bad just a little to slow for me i like the specs tho but too random

Crossbows are slow (really slow - short bow shoot twice while u shoot once). but they do nice damage (at least with mith/sapphire and above)

 

i got my rune xbows from steel drags (3 in my last slayer task 19 stee ldrags) and alot of mith bolts from chaos duirds. so it is nice to use if it is free. but I won't buy one.

you would be dead if you ran into a 4 mager team, meeler, ect....

I like the specials on some of the (e) bolts, but as said before they are a bit to slow. In addition, the special is random and for some reason never there when I need it most. :?

 

It is also nice to be able to equip a shield, book or defender when using the c-bow.

 

In short: If it were a little faster and a bit less random, it would be nice. For now ill stick to knifes, darts and mage short.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but, very roughy what is the frequency of the dragon breath special and what is your highest hit with it?

i like the new crossbows actually, the specials look pretty cool, and emerald bolts(e) are probably the cheapest way to super poison someone! Btw, the old "normal bolts" dont exist anymore. they were replaced with bronze bolts.

ahem, got a little carried away there, but seriously they own! for reasons i shall list here

 

 

 

1. one handed

 

so you can use a crossbow with a shield, making for a higher ranged bonus(use a zammy or guth book) and higher hits with it

 

 

 

2. (e) bolts untradable

 

so no more noobs robbing your bolts when your fighting dragons or such

 

 

 

3. specials

 

one for every gem type, making it a weapon for every occasion

 

 

 

4. new ranged max hit

 

using a blood forfiet bolts on the toughest monster on the game (the one, the only, tz tok jad) will get you a hit of over 60! (20% of his health)

 

 

 

5. dragon crossbow?

 

the dragon/magic crossbow will, when it comes out, be the only ranged dragon weapon, and of course will look cool....

 

 

 

theres downsides too, and it wouldn't be fair not to list them...

 

 

 

1. slow....

 

yes, they are slower than a regular bow or throwing knives, but for the power you get from them its only fair right?

 

 

 

2. some specials are kinda useless...

 

the jade and saphire ones being examples of this

 

 

 

3. specials dont happen all the time

 

well what did you expect? some specials would be unfair to have on everytime (blood forfiet, dragonbreath)

Here you are a bit off the mark. You are right to mention the fact that (e) bolts are untradable. However, the (e) bolts do nothing against the bolt/ arrow robbers. Once fired and on the ground they will appear as regular bolts to other players, hence they can be stolen.

ok, i've tested that out, they dont reappear as normal bolts, i just droped one in a bank and asked the other 2 people to say when it appeared, it disappeared after a short time, so it wasn't seen by them, my origanal post was correct, and you my friend just got owned

if ur arrows appear on the floor the u r simply to slow and shld proobably ranging something else. Period.
