Anesthesia
So you'd be happy if someone was drawing something that they thought was good looking on your house? Something that THEY thought was good looking but you hated. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
assassin_696
So you'd be happy if someone was drawing something that they thought was good looking on your house? Something that THEY thought was good looking but you hated. If it was on my wall, i'd maintain that it was art, but just annoyingly hard to remove art :P I see your point, graffiti on purely private property isn't respectful, not matter how artistic, but i'm thinking more about the kind that brightens up dark alleyways, underpasses under roads etc. "Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"
issy2
Graffiti is a great art, but it really depends what it is. There's this really nice, old, railway bridge near where I live. It's probably about 80 years old, I don't know, but it's really beautiful and I used to love it. Nowadays, however, it's covered in words like 'rob is g@!' and 'lucy is a b*tch!' and some random people's names in black, just black, defacing public property. But no, I think graffiti such as in the link posted previously is a great art, but artists just have to be sensitive of where they do it; get the message that once it's been erased by tired, toiling council/community workers, they're going to have to find somewhere else to draw. caligula101
I dislike it, adolescent teenagers trying to be cool by writing their name on other peoples property, why can't they do it on their own houses if it is apparently art?

issy2
I think the general feeling is it's ok if it looks good, if it's not somebody else's property, then it's vandalism.

Mercifull
Its a very expressive artform and can be used to make some very powerful statements when done well. However, most graffiti is just tagging, and thats lame, ugly and makes areas look dirty and run down Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Anesthesia
It's spelt tautologies Hooray for typos! (You'll notice that I is next to O) I love how you talk about 'adolescent teenagers' as though you aren't one. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be. caligula101
Well i'm 17 if that's what you mean, however not the kind to impregenate 14 year old girls or indeed spray paint all over public buildings to project my artistic abilities? No i think I have more class than that, and I live in the North...
Tigra00
"Adolescents" are technically anyone from 13 to 34 years of age. So saying "Adolescent Teenagers", that being someone 13 to 19 years of age, is just being more descriptive. Anesthesia
Princeton WordNet puts it at 13-19. Both dictionary.com and Webster's put it as the period starting at puberty and ending legally at the age of majority. Google define at 11-12 to 17-18. Petty, I know, but without them my point wouldn't stand so I felt compelled to post. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be. BlueTear
... I must've missed the memo where the grammar police was looking for new recruits. I think it's an art, if done in the right setting. If done on someone else's property, it's clearly vandalism. I even have vague memories of once being told - during a lecture regarding vandalism at elementary school - that the certain chemicals used in the paint is - over time - harmful to the structural integrity of concrete. I wouldn't bet my life on remembering that correctly though. -This message was deviously brought to you by:
GoingUnder
I love it, but i hate when i see stuff like random letters, u kno names of gang for example, my cousin has a "gang" so he writes his gangs name everywhere in normal font and i think that looks rubbish. But then they do some wicked stuff with their tag names and those i prefer. I havnt done any walls so far but i have done it on the floor in the park and i dont think it makes the place look less disguisting than it already is. i am a paint noob
Viktorkrum77
Regardless of how beautiful it is. It is still vandalism of someone else's property. :shame: However, on paper, I love any kind of typography! Me doing staff.
How2PK
Depends where it's done. And I guess the real graffiti artists know where it's done. It needs to fit the atmosphere of the surroundings and so. But on itself it's art of course, why not? And when done on the right spot I don't have any problems with it. Unless it's like this guy just spraying a name on it without some effort. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! 74gto
Yeah, but ya know there are LEGAL walls to do graffiti that are repainted white every month. I once saw soem graffiti in bubble letters that said "noob" i started laughing my head off.
Ragen
I don't mind graffiti in town centers and very urban areas, unless it is disrespectful or trashy (ie. Craig 4 Danny) or put onto something naturally beautiful like a statue or marble building. Alleyways, underpasses and shabby looking building I'm fine with though. Aijiru
I have seen really nice grafittis on walls near the river of my city, under the bridges or near the bus station. They are on places where no one lives and some of them are really well done... here's one of them: http://img340.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 0039fc.jpg Currently having a break from sig-making...Join the campaign for more F2P bank space!Avatar by Born2die, tyvm!
