d3nic
Hello everyone. I made a thread on here about a month ago asking if a 6600GT graphics card would run RuneScape good, and apparently it would. So, I've installed my graphics card and all that stuff etc..... And now, I'm having the edzactly same problem. My specs are : Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0GHz 2 GIG Ram 6600GT 128MB And now I still can't run RuneScape smoothly on high detail, it is choppy... So now I know it definetly isn't an hardware problem, as my computer specs smash the RuneScape specs... Any advice on this problem please ? Thanks a lot. - Denic. RebelAssassin
i dont think a graphics card would even effect runescape as its a java game :? www.PETAkillsanimals.com
zonda
If your motherboard came with a CD of drivers, use them. I know of a few people who had this same problem and it stemmed from them not using drivers. Make sure you have the newest version of Sun Java, and that you are using the Sun Java to play, and not the Microsoft VM. Also, install your video card drivers if you havn't. While it won't effect runescape, it will effect other things. For instance, if you don't have your drivers installed, and you try scrolling thru an I.E. page with mouse3, it will take AGES to do so.... oh, and theres no sense in having that card if you haven't installed the drivers :P But uh... this last paragraph isn't all that important. Pay attention to what I said in the begining. ...
d3nic
My motherboard doesn't have any drivers... And of course I've installed my graphics card drivers... I don't know what the problem is.
Militaris
Installing a 6600GT would do next to nothing in improving runescapes performance. Its performance is mostly determined by the CPU. Looking at your specs the poor performance? should not be a hardware problem. It might be caused by a poor quality Internet connection, or your computer might just be bogged down by background processes. Sometimes reinstalling windows (although drastic) can cause a performance increase. In most cases it is possible to use a range of software applications which would have the same benefit. Tigra00
1.) Your internet connection is le' suck. 2.) RuneScape's servers are le' suck. Nothing to do with your card, dude. d3nic
Well, I guess my card wont go to all waste, as I'll be playing WoW soon any way. So what I'm experiencing with RuneScape must be normal then... - Denic.

I figure it's probably #1.. I've known a few people who spent lots of money on nice computers hoping it would make Runscape run better, but they never got a better internet connection.. tunaboy692004
Well, i cant on 56k. It is not your graphics card, possibly you dont have all your drivers installed correctly. Open device manager, and check for any missing drivers. Some how you may have underclocked your cpu, but i doubt that you would. My only suggestion is to...stop playing rs lol. To much trouble :) Current Goals80/80 Fletching60/75 Woodcutting97/100 Combat
Nadril
I love how we all told this guy that a graphics card has nothing to do with running runescape, and he argued against it and got one anyways, and is now havign the same problem. Anyways.. Try a different java. I know sometimes the default java is horrible.
Chris
If it's just RuneScape it probably isn't driver related. If you're having problems with any other program/game, it'd be nice to know about it. It might help. I really can't offer any more assistance than what has already been said without more information. Download PC Wizard. Could you tell me what it says your motherboard is? Then I can direct you to new chipset/motherboard drivers. I hope. Notoriously Trollish. For some reason, with my mobo drivers, it made RS choppy. I would take 3 or 4 steps incredibly fast, then I would freeze for a few seconds, and then take 3 or 4 more steps very quickly. After having a topic on the issue open in T&C for over a month, and meeting several other people with the same problem, I could only come to ONE conclusion. It was sun java. For some reason, when I downloaded and intalled Microsoft Java VM Rs ran fine, which is what I still use to this day. If I switch to sun java, I get the lag again. The only problem is... you probably won't be able to find a place to download Microsoft VM, and even if you did, there are a few security flaws in it, though nothing major, despite what all the people may flame about me using it day after day. ... Chris
I too use MSJVM, I keep a saved file in My Documents for everytime I format. If you want me to send it to you give me a PM. I'll zip it up and upload it to one of those weird filesharing thingiemabobs. Rapidshare or whatever. I think usually after installing it, it needs at least one security update. Which is done automatically. Unless you're running a naughty copy of XP. #-o Notoriously Trollish.
