kuud
why do you think andrew is so rich... not from making this game but selling people's passwords to pesky nine year old's..... (ummm keyloggers should be one of the answers btw)

Notorious_Ice
Na there have been a problem with pass crackers. Somebody grew half a brain and finally figured out it wasnt hard to crack runescape passwords with rotating proxies. Jagex has fixed this problem, instead of only a certain amount of log in attempts from an ip are allowed before having to wait, its now the account itself, no matter what ip is used to try and log in. Don't be afraid your life will end, be afraid it will never begin.
SwreeTak
These guys are just unlucky. They have not been hacked for some other reason that the hackers want his or hers account. None inside Jagex does this. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
curly55555
they must be just unlucky because why would Jagex get rid of players who've been playing for a while and are generally good for the game? And don't you have to be 13 or something to play Runescape? so no accounts are given to 9 year olds http://custom.leetscape.com/sig/63/70/combat.png[/img]You just won the award for "The Most niave person on the Tip.it Boards!"]*Points towards the monkey sitting on the button and declining every query*Help me No.

Umega
i mean someone inside TIP.IT  because meaby people hacked tip.it pass database and people got same pass as rs All the more reason to have a different password here from your runescape one. Mind you, I've been here for over 2 years now and I've never been hacked yet. So I'm guessing Tip.it is a safe fansite, in my opinion anyway. :D No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug. Well, if you play on a daily basis and you deposit all your items in your bank WITH a bank PIN... then really, you can't get you items hacked... I've had my password changed randomly before, and the time I changed it again and logged back in, the PIN was still up and it said it would be removed in so-and-so hours, since the hackers didn't know my PIN. \ So, just try to use every security measure possible, and you'll be fine. ClericZoey
people get their account scammed in many ways: - sql injection - keylogging - packet sniffers - runescape petition websites - aol instant messenger direct connect - that "can i be ur gf / bf" thing usually leads to getting hacked too

If that had happened, my account would have been taken first, due to my mega-awesomeness. The point is, it hasn't. it happened a while ago, remember when jagex announced a large fan site had been compromised on their updates page? that was tip.it  you would have to be an admin to get access to the db and thats why we lost an admin around that time and that would also be the reason noone got hacked because they knew that if they did anything they would get banned 485th person to ever play RuneScapeBlue107- perm banned 10/12/2007. $300 USD reward if you can get me in contact with someone who will take 5 seconds to look at evidence and get my original character unbanned. Bubsa
blue, there was a thread/annoucement confirming that whole situation and the 'compromising' thing. I'll try to find it for you, but the point is was that the password db was never made accessable. Pm an admin or something. I know, you may rightly think "well they would say that", I know, but the password db was never compromised directly. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. Notorious_Ice
people get their account scammed in many ways: - sql injection - keylogging - packet sniffers - runescape petition websites - aol instant messenger direct connect - that "can i be ur gf / bf" thing usually leads to getting hacked too sql injection won't work. packet sniffers don't work. They did when runescape first came out but it doesnt now. Runescape passwords are kept in the server now. If you hacked somebodies computer, knew all the ports and programs etc to get the packet when they log in, its still incripted in a random way each time, and only the server can read it. petition websites? How would that work? Instant messenger? Hows that suposed to work? Instant messengers block anything and everything. The gf/bf scam used to work really really well. I knew a couple of people who did it. I, having my dignity and at least some morals have never done that. Dancing So, just try to use every security measure possible, and you'll be fine. Wrong. The hackers unset bank pins, using a simple script to stayed constantly logged in until they have gone. Don't be afraid your life will end, be afraid it will never begin.
