spooferfish
I was at the park with my brother, my girlfriend, and my brothers friend, wasting time while my mom and her friend were driving to Sioux Falls (40 miles away from where we were, in the town where my moms friend lives.) to get a gate we had to replace. If you followed all that, congrats, lol. Anyway, at the park, I tried jumping onto a moving merry-go-round, that was moving pretty fast, and my foot went with the merry-go-round, and i went down, hard. Everyone in the park was laughing, including me, until I pulled up my pant leg to see why my leg was hurting, and I saw a hole in my leg, with a bright white line going vertically down it - my tibia (shin bone). I tell my brother I think we should go, he turns around and look, and starts looking for his car keys, which flew out of this pocket while he was riding the merry-go-round. He finally finds them, we call my mom, who freaked out cuz the phone connetion was bad, and she just heard "Chris (me), blood, bone" She maxed out her friends truck (speedomoter goes to 85, and the needle was past it, lol) and got to the farm where we were waiting in record time. I was inside waiting watching tv and laughing with the three people with me..once i stopped thinking about what was going on with my leg, and seeing the bone and all, i was fine, it barely hurt. Barely hurt until we finally get to the hospital (2+ hours later) and the dr's assistants starting cleaning it, i was squirming and squeezing the table i was on, clenching my fists, and crying (yea i know, sissy, lol) After another couple of hours and 8 stitches later..owie still, lol. I was bored and decided to share my story with you guys.. BTW The gouge, and the cut around it were from a BLUNT edge, so it hit me hard enough to split my skin..owie. Sorry for my bad story telling skills..enjoy, lol. *limps away* I suppose I can put this in the first post. DO NOT click that link if you don't want to see it. jak722
Would it be inappropriate for me to ask if you or your friends took a picture of it before you got it fixed at the hospital? :| I mean, its not often you get to see your inside parts. Just wondering is all... Oh btw, are you still in the hospital or did they let you go as soon as you were done? spooferfish
We did take a pic before i got it fixed, or even cleaned, its all gorey and gross. The pic isnt very high quality, cuz its on a camera phone, but you can see it, and a white dot inside (my shin). I was realeased as soon as they stitched me up. :D

____
Not close enough to death, 0/10 :P Seriously though, sounds rather interesting. Although I do hope you people applied basic first aid in that 2-3hours before you got to the hospital?

I was keeping my leg elevated and when we got to my mom's friend's farm we wrapped it, then my mom's friend (who is medically trained from the army) helped me wrap it up for the trip back to the hospital. Zonorhc
That must really suck. On the other hand, that's. So. Cool. This one time I almost had my hand opened up at fencing... but I've never had anything quite as bad as that. To be fair, though, the tibia is fairly close to the skin. Now, if you had your femur exposed, you'd be more worried. Or probably dead. It is close to the surface, but its still disturbing to roll up my pant let and look to see my shin there in a red oozing (gushing :ohnoes: ) hole. I hope they realized this and checked to make sure the bone isnt fractured or anything.. I'm sure they did, but that would be horrible :( I pm'd pictures to those who wanted to see them. Now that sounds like my kind of cricket! :D But seriously, ouch. I've put big dents in my shins quite a lot falling off my bike and they always seem to hurt a lot to say it's mostly bone. And the effects of a Brown Recluse are pathetic in comparison to 90% of what could be seen at Rotten Dot Com :P
