October 20, 200619 yr Well, ever since scamming had became really common, with especially "trust" scams, I've stopped lending people things, unless they have a really good reputation on the RS community. For this player - although it wasn't him who scammed me, I'm not going name him because he deserves his privacy. Anyways, this player was well known accoss RuneScape, especially for having held the #1 firemaking spot for well over a year. A few days ago, "he" wanted to borrow 3M to merchant for a dragon chain, so I trusted him. It turns out it wasn't him - someone had guessed his recovery questions. My friend said he'll try to do something but I told him that if really couldn't return 3M to me, he didn't have to. But since this incident, I probably shouldn't lend anything of significant value regardless of the player's reputation. You'd think that having good karma from not having ever scammed anyone would help - I guess not. Oh well, RS is just a game. I can still make about 300-600k a day from thieving and doing treasure trails. edit: fixed typos ARENAscape: Baratus [AS] max hit: 166 with Moon Battle Hammer ixfd64 [AS] max hit: 116 with (untitled spell #2)
October 20, 200619 yr Eh, you shouldn't let this one instance keep you from helping out friends in the future. It does suck that you were scammed of 3m, but it isn't that much. Maybe just in the future, ask the loanee a question that only he/she would know, and not a random person on their account, to make sure you know who exactly you're lending the money to.
October 20, 200619 yr I am sorry you got scammed. =( It is true that it is getting harder and harder to trust people in the game, but I do not think that you should let this sour you on helping out your true friends in the game. I was scammed out of some money, but it is just money, I can get that back after a couple of days of fishing. I still help out my friends as often as I can. October 20, 200619 yr To me it is the thing you should never do, NEVER give someone cash if he/she wants to LEND it, because you will never get it back! I think the chance you will loose it is about 80%. [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]

October 20, 200619 yr yeah losing 3m is a bummer, wish i had it.....thats y i dont lend stuff, unless i know the person in RL
October 20, 200619 yr I trust most Tip iters such as Kashi, Ugafan, Nick, Fear, etc.. I don't trust you either Pandaman...
October 20, 200619 yr This story just make me think: Never trust anybody! Depends on your personal honor. I'd never scam another person, and I've been both the reciever and the lender. I always pay back about 20% more as a sign of gratitude even if they say it's not necessary. The world wouldn't work if nobody trusted anybody. By talking to a person for years you can usually form an opinion about his/her trustworthiness. But sadly sometimes, things like this can happen and somebody could guess even your best friend's recoveries.

October 21, 200619 yr Author While scamming is relatively common, I don't think that up to 80% are scammers, lol. Otherwise, most people on RS would be banned already. ARENAscape: Baratus [AS] max hit: 166 with Moon Battle Hammer ixfd64 [AS] max hit: 116 with (untitled spell #2)
