Defining Emo

LOL

I just finished watching this. Haha, and no positive comments... "Emo... You mean those guys who cut themselves?" "Grunge was different from Emo in one way... Their music didn't suck"

Nobody laughs at them because "they're different". So many people are 'emo' now they are all just mass produced zombies. Get your own opinions, no offense.

And yes, the hairstyle is not unique anymore. It used to be unique in Japan until 'emo' kids wanted to look like misunderstood video game characters in the USA. It's so unoriginal, be yourselves. It can't be that hard to get your own personality, why even cut yourselves just because "others do it too and my life sucks"?

Every time someone brings up the emo subject I know there's going to be someone who will flame emos for wearing 'girl pants'. I'm wearing a pair right now and I have to say they feel pretty good though they don't leave a whole lot to the imagination..

I got tired of the emo topics way back when they became popular (like the relationship thing I started) so I'm not going to say much here.. :-$

Pretty funny. I seriously don't hate emo kids because they're "different" or they're depressing, I can tolerate that. What makes me hate them is that every emo kid I know (and I mean EVERY, no exceptions) I knew when they were growing up, and they had it good. Dad was a doctor/lawyer bringing down six digits a year, got everything they asked for on Christmas, always the first in the latest fad, lived in a two-story house with a basement, on youth sports teams where their moms always brought snacks for the team after a game, etc. I didn't have it nearly HALF as good as these kids, but THEY'RE the ones with the "Life sucks" attitude. The whole Emo culture is just a bunch of whiny teens that can't get what they want for the first time in their lives, be it popularity, dates, good grades, or whatever, and they decide to make it worse by doing this.

the russians are the best! Hands down!

The only thing I don't get about guys and tight pants is that must hurt. Im a guy and I wouldnt be able to sit down. I don't know any emo kids well. If one came into my class thed be torn apart in seconds. You should hear them go on about emo music. It comes up about twice a year and thats 2 times to often <.< .

I personally don't associate with EMOs, Goths, Punks, and Skate Punks....

That's too bad.. Some of those people are really great and tons of fun to be around.

Sitting down is easy as long as you wear your pants low. If you pull your pants up nice and tight like girls do, then it might hurt.. Oh and if you wear boxers.. They tend to ride up easier than with normal pants.. :-$

Actually.. The 'girl pants' that most guys wear, are sold in the mens section. So technically I'm still wearing mens pants.. They just look like girls pants :P

Oh man! I was just thinking that we needed another emo thread!

On topic, that was the absolute worst video I've ever seen in my life.

I know plently of emo kids. I like them! And there music! :P Especially Panic At The Disco!

Goth's on the otherhand, they intimidate me.

But I love Hot Topic!!

Kinda scary though, my cousin, around the age of 13, was once a preppy girl, now she's becoming emo due to her new group of emo friends. :wall:

Why again did the bloody British influence American culture with there ideas of Goth? :D

Emo? Do we really have to categorize people? Why can't you just leave them be and be happy? They don't need to be in groups, especially ones with 'bad reputations,'.

I have friends who come under the 'emo group, the skate group, the punks,' whatever, they're all cool people. So, to be honest, it doesn't really matter.

Personally, emo isnt really my mood/climate right now. I can completely understand though if these kids feel that way and they want to dress and act like others that they have in common with. What's wrong with that?

I like to think I don't conform appearance wise but everybody does conform somehow.

I completely agree with you. There are alot of kids at my school like that.

I'm not into stereotyping people. Some people I consider to be friends are into the whole "emo" scene. I try not to judge anyone until I get to know them first.

However, I do consider the whole emo thing to be quite annoying, mainly because of the reasons Mr. KCHuges listed above. Plus, the fact that I can't stand the music. Doesn't mean I wouldn't miss out on the chance to get to know someone who defines themself as "emo" though.

To the original poster: I enjoyed the movie. ^_^ It was in good quality and seemed to be well thought out, plus it was very witty.

well, - i hate the emo kids at my school, mostly because they try to force their emo-osity down everyone elses throat.. I like the same music as them, and im into mostly the same stuff, but im not emo. Or not emo as they would see. Because i dont follow the group like a lemming, wear the exact same clothes as all their mates and then claim to be an 'individual'.

and i quote - from another forum im a member of...

an emo is one step down the suicidal food chain from a goth

and one step up from a lemming.

there are two kinds of emos..

good emos - they like the music, like the clothes - just get on with their lives without trying to make a statement.

bad emos - they are emo just for the sake of being emo - they... no.. im not gonna say it.... ... ... SLIT THEIR WRISTS!!!.... aww.... damn.. sorry to all u nice emos out there - but there are a small minority who do..

there...
