Sxcybob123
So the monsters all moving diagonally makes it harder to get them to safe spots now right? :o :( No fair. lavaownz
Maybe JAGex did this on purpose, they didnt want the cave to be easy.... But I guess we just have to come up with new strategies Rofl. justcallmedaddy
What do I do when a 360 and 90 spawn on top of eachother? It HAS happened to me before and it killed me :( . I am using Guthan by the way.

ummm22
Uggggggghhhhhhhh.... Just died at Jad for the 2nd time :( I was using your range only setup, everything and inventory the same. Got to Jad with like 5 super restores, 1 range pot, 3-4 sara brews left. The diagonal movement and everything didnt mess up too much; I used 1 spot almost the entire time (north side of the Italy rock). I need to stop being nervous and learn some prayer switching lol :wall: Stats: 89 range 75 def 82 hits 52 prayer

But I guess we just have to come up with new strategies They want you to kill a level 702 which can 1 hit you (probably) even with 99Hp...How much harder do you want to make it. But it's not like I log onto a world and see more than one person with a cape, so surly not as easy as some say. 13_19_16
Well maybe they'll do it just for the caves... doubt it though, as this update does seem to hurt pures quite a bit. Also, if using a rune crossbow, would you recommend using ava's accumulator instead of a god/trimmed 99 cloak? Finally, does one bolt type (/enchanted subtype) shine far, far above the others? I was just wondering, as otherwise I'll probably just use plain mithril ones :P As to if you should take the accumulator or not, you will definitely want to wear it. The ammo-retrieval effect is essential unless you want to risk death picking up your shots all the time (not reccomended :P ), and you only lose a few defense points. On the bolts, the type that "shines" depends on the wave. For most of the caves you will want to do as thekiller308 already pointed out, using the enchanted emeralds on high-risk monsters and using plain bolts on the rest. Once you get to Jad, I've found that it is best to start the fight with the enchanted emerald bolts until you poison him and then switch to an enchanted adamant or rune type. The higher bolts hit Jad much more frequently than mithril bolts, and their effects can do massive damage. Remember to distract the healers with poisoned ones though - the poison damage can build up enough that they start healing themselves instead of attacking you. Finally, remember that when using several types of bolt, take them in a bolt pouch! It saves a lot of inventory room.

Thanks : I was wondering if anyone has tried using the blood forfeit bolts on Jad (the ones that have a chance to drain 10% of your health and 20% of the victim's health). Sounds like it would be quite nice.... And the dragonfire one sounds nice too... anyone tried that?
skatrider234
well that update dont sound to good :( .. as if a firecaves wasnt difficult enough.. owell ill jsut have to work my way around it, i seem to find ways to get around these kinds of things and i got a question.. will the 90's hit as well even through higher def, casue i got 80atm and im wondering if i can just hold of prayer on them so i can conserve it for later
Aneron
The 90s so hit significantly without prayer. For reference, watch muggi's first vid guide (it's still in the AOW). There's no need to be stingy with praying on 90s - your inventory IS mostly super restores :P (with 82 range and 60 prayer muggi still had quite a few leftover)

Unfortunately I haven't gotten to try out the dragonstone bolts yet, but from what I've seen of them they will probably hit even harder still. You should be fine with blood forfeit bolts though, Jad still went down pretty fast with them.

Can't confirm this personally, but I had seen somewhere that Dragonstone bolts effects don't work on fire based mosters (which apparently included Jad). Also good to know that blood bolts do work, was wondering about that.

Also good to know that blood bolts do work, was wondering about that. I know what you're talking about, it says it in the KB somewhere. That's what I first thought too, but then someone told me that it only doesn't work against dragons/anti-dragon effect shields. I don't know from personal experience, so I can't say one way or the other. However, even if the effect doesn't work dragonstone bolts still ought to hit hard enough naturally that Jad should be pretty easy :) .

skatrider234
alright.. i went and experimented in caves for a bit after i herd of that update to see if it really made that big of a diffrence.. the thruth is i didnt even notice much diffrence at all, they can all still be lured almost the same exact ways as they could before... but i did notice a slight diffrence when fighting the 360's is a bit harder to lure them but mabye cause theres just more going on, but i didnt see anythign other then that, that was diffrent to me
Coandca5
Only thing I'm worried about is him spawning in the middle and walking toward me, and getting a surprise range attack before I can see him. No matter what now, he's almost impossible to get him south of the Italy rock without luring him, am I correct?
Aneron
The only way to get him south of italy now looks like starting directly north of it, and hoping Jad spawns directly south of it... :uhh:

Luring Jad...dang thats risky, although so long as you stay out of melee range of Jad your fine. I mean I hardly see people using any safe spots with Jad (Minus pures) But personally a monster that can Range/Mage you...Safe spots are pointless. Sxcybob123
Open question to all: If I were to use the rune c bow and didn't want to pick up the bolts then will 5k mith do me the entire 63 rounds? I am 70 range if that's at all important. You should definetly use Ava's accumulator instead; it can let you do the caves using under 500 bolts (don't bring this few though) without you needing to pick up your shots. Also, since you have a relatively low ranged level the accuracy boost the accumulator gives would be helpful as well.
Gemiox
I read this on Runescape Official forums, and they have a new method ! ~!~ Zmaster 1's new lure spot Map ~!~ Thank you Zmaster 1 for providing this new map. Here you will be protected from any spawn except 33 Explanation: Spawn (11):: Will get stuck at point 1, and you cannot be harmed as long as you stay behind the wall. Spawn (22) and (44):: Will get stuck at poin 24, allowing you to range it safely Spawn (33):: This is the problem spot. If you are unlucky enough to get a 180 to spawn here, its time to dance. Basically, you will run to point 24, then to point 1. Quickly run to point 3, then back to your safespot. This should effectivly place the 180 somewhere around the middle (22) spawn (con*.) ### :: Run to this corner if a monster range/mages you from too far away to retaliate against. The monster will come closer, and you can range it safely again. I think this will help people getting a firecape.
