piman1053
Right now, I'm considering whether or not I should continue being an "under lvl 90" skiller (swampjedi, jorus2, the tallest1, uular, etc). Stats are in sig, and I have about 18m after getting 99 fletching. I'm looking for any thoughts at all.
Dork
If you want to train combat, train it.. Your skills will still be the same no matter what combat level you are. lagatag
I like combat and slayer, so I would never do that, besides, most skillers are level 3, not 87.
koddo1
Hey, look at me, i have 1500 total and I'm only level 90! I'm a skiller! No you're not. You're level 90. You're an average player, maybe you have a little higher total then the normal player, but not much. If you enjoy non combat skills more, then train them more, but if you want to train combat, go nuts. Just please, don't call yourself a skiller unless you actually have really really good stats. ugafan_2009
Whatever you want. I enjoy both skills and combat, so I know I'll go over 90. Quit RS, combat 104, total 1651
Dork
Just please, don't call yourself a skiller unless you actually have really really good stats. Why does someone need to have good stats to call themselves a skiller? Why is a low level with 1800 skill total more impressive than a high level with a 1800 skill total? Both have put the same amount of work into what they do. I'm level 124, I still consider myself a skiller because I enjoy training skills, not because my skill total is high. koddo1
They're attempting to become something like Lara Barbara or Swampjedi where they have really good non combat skills, and failing, and it's kind of annoying to see so many people like that. Of course, the name in itself is rather silly, as all skills are...skills. So really, everyone's a skiller unless they just play in the Games room all the time or something... saam007
combat is also a skill. Slayer is half skill / half combat. I don't understand people that got lvl 3 player with all other skill high and another acc with lvl 100 combat guy. whats the point? My combat is 118 and my total is 1937. I think I am kind of skiller. Who said skiller don't need to train combat? koddo1
On the level 3 thing: I have a level 3 because of many reasons: It gives me something different to do when I'm bored of my main, if my main is camped out somewhere (Fire Giants a lot :P ) but I want to get on Runescape but I don't really feel like Fire Giants, but I really don't want to leave, it gives me something to do. Also I rather enjoy the community of skillers. Plus, I have to admit I do somewhat enjoy the "OMG u actually got 94 WC!!!" :P But that's just my reasons. koddo1
Well, my WC on my main wouldn't even get me a level :P And honestly, if I did try WCing on my main, it wouldn't be close to 94. I would be playing Castle Wars too much to ever want to.
Arch_Tyrant
You already have a high total for yur cb level so i wouldnt become a skiller...Just continue doing what you normally do and train cb every now and then. Plus yur cb level is the thing everyone sees... only some people will think yur a skiler if they look u up in the highscores see what i mean? swampjedi
I must say, I'm embarassed. Have FUN, that's what is important. I enjoy what I do, because it's not the norm. piman1053
First of all, I'm not sure if a single person noticed the 99 fletching in my sig. Second, I haven't made up my mind. I'm at pc gettin xp and points with the intention of not leveling combat. I've also been working on other skills, like fishing and magic, for the past week or so. I've only been playing 9 months if it makes a difference to anybody. Swampjedi you're my idol :3>
Doomster
Whatever works for you... I guess pure skillers got a real boost with skill capes, a level 3 doing skill cape animations would be cool. Equally cool would be a decent combat character with no support skill levels, though that would mean buying in all equipment and food. With good skills on a normal combat character, you don't stand out unless you really max out.
Daemos_Magen
LOL In reality, the only "skills" in this game are things you can actually improve in over another (PKing, Dueling, perhaps Merchanting in some sense) Everything else is just button clicking Whatever button you choose to click is our choice
Berrakus
Unless you are in an under 90 skilling clan, don't worry about your combat level. I was an under 90 skiller for a while, but when I started to Abyss RC, I kept running into a lot of PKers my level to the point where I couldn't effeciently Abyss RC anymore. So now I am training Slayer and Crafting. These skills will help raise my Combat Level and my Magic level, which will make it much easier for me to Abyss RC in the future. I guess the moral of this is to do what you want, but don't lock yourself into a certain stereotype to the point where it negatively impacts your ability to train. I'm not. Otherwise why would I bother getting 78 combat? My skills aren't truely amazing, I just train what I enjoy. The equivalent of having a high combat. So my advice to you is just train what you like. Don't focus on what other people would see you to be, just do what you enjoy and don't make the game a chore. SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED. confused
Just train whatever you feel like, combat or non-combat skills. Don't feel obliged to conform to this "skiller" trend. RAHK
I think a couple people are confused between being a "skiller" and a "skill pure". A skill pure has 3 combat and impressive non-combat skills. A skiller in it's simplest sense is an account that does not focus solely on combat. It also holds the connotation that the account has more than 50% of it's xp from non-combat skills. I would tell you to do whichever you find the most fun. If you enjoy the process of going for 99s in non-combat while keeping your combat the same, then more power to you. If that seems more like a chore than fun, raise your combat as well. Personally, I wanted to be exclusively a quester at one point and had all the quests (before RFD and after DT) done at a combat level in the high 80s. The only reason that I had raised my combat was to do the quests. The only reason that I did the quests was for Throne of Misc. which I thought was the way that everybody was making cash. Needless to say, I was rather frustrated when I found that it was cheaper to buy things on the open market. Luckily for me Jagex fixed that months later. :D At that point I discovered Barrows and got so many combat levels there (mostly mage of course) that going back to my ORIGINAL ORIGINAL idea (skiller) was kind of pointless. Hard to be a skill pure at 100+ combat, lol. It is so strange to me when people say that they are training combat because almost all of mine were side-effects of other goals. So, basically, I started out wanting to be a skill pure, discovered ToM, did the quests to get it, was disappointed, decided to finish all of the quests, discovered Barrows, got a load of combat levels on accident (search for 9,999 kc in the Blogscape forum, lol), and am now at a point where I am fishing for a big shark while farming and buying loads of seaweed/soda ash (around 2k so far) to finish up my mage and crafting skilling (can't let all of those buckets of sand go to waste, lol). So I am back to square one, non-combat skills. In other words, let yourself and your character evolve on the path that entertains you the most. This is a GAME remember? It should all be about fun goals. :) Skills will come of their own accord and faster if that is your (fun) goal. So, I vote evolution and fun. PM me in game to use some skills of mine (glories/potions) free or to ask a question.Fire Cape - 04/29/06 Lvl 104RAHK's Pro PC Gear and Guide(clickable) Tired of hack and slash? Uula
IMO you're a skiller when you see yourself as one. YOU are the one that defines it, not a certain combat - total ratio or something else.
meb
If you really detest combat, being a level a lvl 3 with nice skill total is nice. If you like combat, it's stupid imo. Combat and quests are a huge part of the game, why deny it?
