respect for ones parents

Recommended Posts

i was on youtube the other day when a friend of mine linked me to a video. It has a child screaming and cursing at his mother to bring him chocolate milk. it was recorded by someone else in the same game on the same channel.

i'm not sure if i am allowed to post it...so go to youtube and search "chocolate milk" and it should be the first link.

i cannot believe the amount of respect the kids of today show their parents, it's just pathetic. senior year of high school i was over this kid's house (i don't like him...just his g/f is my best friend) and his mom yelled at him for something and said he was grounded. he said "HA, f-you" and walked out the door.

i was...baffled.

what has the world's children come to? to curse at their parents like this? it's insane

Wow thats pretty harsh lol. I guess they can get that from a lot of things, friends, maybe another family member acts like that, i don't know. Whats more insane in my opinion is that the mother isn't doing anything about the swearing, thats kinda telling him it's o.k to curse at people like that.

Yeah. I've seen the video you're talking about.

My little sister and I got into an argument today about the way she treats my mom. I told her that if I ever had children who disrespected me the way she does my mom, I would slap the piss out of them.

I respect my parents greatly. They really are devoted ones. I think that respect for your parents is an EXTREMELY good trait to have, a trait that I think is quickly fading in today's younger generation. They seem to have no respect for anyone.

totally agree. my dad got pissed at me for the ways i would talk to my mother at times...and it is not even a comparison to the kids of today. i think one time i said "mom can you get something for me?". my dad flipped out b/c i guess i didn't ask very politely...i wasn't demanding or anything like that kid, just didn't have the right attitude i guess. he bolted upstairs and said "she's not your slave pal, learn some respect"

Likewise. I used to be REALLY troublesome to my mom when I was younger. Had to get one of my older cousins to live with us just to keep an eye on me because my mom became busy with my younger brother. I can't believe that I was that evil when I was younger. I treated one of my aunts (who took care of me as much as my mom and my grandma when I was younger) really bad too and RIP to her :(

I'm ashamed of my former self, but I gotta say I got quite a bit of 'physical' help to how I act now. I can't even steal a freakin USB drive ROFL

It all depends on the parents. If they dont teach their children to behave, the children will never behave.

Parents need to start beating the youngins again.

That would be too conservative. And as all conservative beliefs are holding society back, it shouldn't happen.

Huh, time for another of my really long posts.

I have a great respect for my parents, especially my mom, for putting up with my and teaching me all the way through Junior high and right up to where i am now in grade 10. Homeschooled FTW.

I get mad at her sometimes, but i never openly swear or curse her. (I sometimes mumble under my breath though... :-w ) One of the reasons is that a lot of parents today regard video games as the root of all evil. My dad doesn't really care what i play, though he still won't let me buy mature games. But my mom sees that games like RS and Warcraft 3 take up too much of my time and recently i have been banned from playing these games until my work is done on Sunday. (Yes, i have a lot of work to finish by the end of November.)

I'm actually posting right now before bed so i don't anger her. To me, the intolerance of some parents for a lot of things may be the cause. For example, i could spend all the time between now and sunday reading one of my fantasy books instead of playing computer, but mom wouldn't get mad at me as long as i finished all my work. Reading doesn't actually get me any smarter than playing RS does. Yet she regards computers as the problem. It's things liek this that may aggravate todays youth until they openly begin to curse, and the parents become more intolerant... and so starts a chain.

I really like my parents, and i deal with my sometimes idiot friends. (One of whom wants to use LimeWire to get all the Warhammer Codexs from the Games Workshop site.) None of them are insulting to their parents either. I find that today, people should just turn around, and walk away. Deal with it, and once it gets too much for me, i will at least try to calmly point out to my mom the various flaws (In my opinion) in her reasoning. I don't see any point in yelling, but i'm sure everyone has felt like it at sometime.

Thanks for reading,

Saw some youtube video. Kinda relates to this.

In one part, an asian kid has about 10 classes I think, gets A's in all but english, which he had a B+ in.

Then his mother goes on about punishment for B+ and concludes with... (warning might be a bit racist to some people)

"Timeout? No you don't deserve a timeout. That's what white people do. Back in Asia, we have something called knockout."

Haha, knockout hella funny, but don't think he deserves a knockout for one B+ though...

Well, some kids just need a beating

What scares me is throughout all my teens, although I may not have agreed to everything my parents did, I have always respected them. The same goes for my sister. My brother on the other hand doesn't even know the meaning of respect, and this saddens me. Don't get me wrong, he doesn't shout and swear, but he has no respect for anything anyone does for him.

Take for example the other day he asked my dad to watch a dvd with him. My dad agreed and then went upstairs because my sister was calling him. It turns out her computer was broken and she wanted him to help her out. It took him about an hour to sort out then he came back downstairs to watch the dvd. Then my brother turns around and says "don't go back on promises idiot. " and walked off. My dad just left it at that and went out for a bit to get some food, when he came back he started looking for his mains adapter for his laptop and that's when my brother says he's hidden it from him to punish him for not coming downstairs.

I don't get it. If you have no respect for the people that bring you into the world, surely you will have no respect for anyone. My brother from the exact same upbringing as myself still manages to act like a complete spoilt brat. The thing is, I know I went through some kind of phase where I didn't like my parents or whatever, but I would never be so rude to their faces like that.

I only hope that when I decide to have children, they do not turn out to be disrespectful common idiots. Guess I'll have to teach them well :P lol.

I don't believe in Respect For Parents unless there is need to respect them... but swearing at them?! I can't remember ever having sworn at either of my parents, or behind their backs, either. They're both fantastic and I really appreciate them.

BUT if you parents respect you, then give them respect in return.

I deeply respect my parents im not perfect and i do argue with them. But at the end of the day their the ones who brang you into this world and you should be very thankfull because of that.

I agree! Whip that belt out, father. Actually, I think beating your child is only acceptable at a young age and to some extent.
