Otherwise your only options are to do the trail, buy its or download an illegal copy. November 28, 200619 yr If you are looking for an image manipulation program that is free you can try the GIMP at http://www.gimp.org/ - there is a Windows version too. It isn't as good as Photoshop, but then Photoshop isn't free. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

November 28, 200619 yr Why do so many people seem to think they NEED photoshop? Only because it's the most well known image manipulating program out there. Also they think "Well if pros use it, I should too." You could also try Paint.NET - I tried it for a bit and it seems more like Photoshop than The GIMP. The trial of Photoshop isn't really worth it. You get the same tools as with Paint.NET, and with a 30 day time limit.
November 28, 200619 yr Why do so many people seem to think they NEED photoshop? Because despite Photoshop being a professional and expensive program, the name itself has become rather iconic. People regularly say things like "I could photoshop that..." even when they plan on using a completely different program. Kind of like how "Googling" something doesn't always mean using Google, but just searching on the web. Because of that type of popular name association, people who don't know anything about photo editing naturally think they should use Photoshop - since the name is so popular.
November 28, 200619 yr what ever happened to paint shop pro? Did they get shut out? No, they are still going on I belive. Not a bad choice if you don't want to shell out the money for photoshop and don't care much about support for brushes/ect.

December 1, 200619 yr I have Paint shop Pro. Not as many features as GIMP or Photoshop but is good for simple projects. I use the same. Look at my sig, I made that piece of crap with it :P and I have hardly any art knowledge :). A nice cheap way to get a nice graphics program. PSP8 - $40 :)
