mimicing other artists and copying pieces is a great way to learn styles and get yourself more used to drawing a wider variety of things.. If Pureleader was to copy, copy, copy anime images and then challenged himself to draw his own using references for help and remembering commonalities throughout drawings he's previously drawn then he will become a better anime/manga artist.. But I do agree that you can't simply try and become another artist, you do need to find your own styles and techniques, figure out how anatomy of characters work by studying real people, how shading effects objects.. Etc. But yes this does deserve CC..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When you're drawing cartoons Pureleader don't be so harsh with your linework until your ready to ink up, be as rough as you need to be get all of your proportions right while you still have it light enough to edit, work in some more solid lines were you need to but still don't go too hard.. By inking up I mean going over it in and finalising it, whether it be hard pencil, ink or pen.

He looks fat, sorry, anime is suppost to be sheek and smooth, with a rough shading edge when needed, I understand the style of dbz, but you have overdone it, loosing the smooth-but-edgy-fighter factor in the image.

..yes but then again he's no expert is he, would you by chance have any advice? Because comparing it to professional work is just absurd, of course he still has a lot to learn, thats the reason why he's posted his work here, for comments and advice. Or am I wrong?

He's got a real fat neck... It also looks like it's got a hole in it. My friend can do this trick how he breathes in and makes a hole in his neck but he can only fit a 20c coin in. With the gap in your neck, you could probably fit a foot ball in there!

I read a bit of manga\anime and almost all of my books (jing king of badits) Isn't smooth... in fact at times its down right jaring...
