That usually doesn't fit into the "affordable" category for most people. Dell and HP's home & home office laptops will make for good low end laptops if you're looking for major brands. Newegg's laptop section is also another good place to start looking to get an idea what you can get for your money. The 2 Dell Precision Series laptops listed on the Dell (the M65 and M90) website also start at $1400, also not "affordable" in the normal sense. Go for a cheaper brand, since usually its no big deal. Make sure you get atleast a dedicated graphics card (sucky one), 1mb ram, and core duo 2 (that is what I would recommend). Try to look for deals or sales. Laptops are getting cheaper and cheaper, but honestly if you really don't need a laptop rather spend the money on a much better desktop. mikercool
The M70 I have is 2gig and is really good for Maya... Here it is... Desktop PCs you will get more for your money, with a Laptop PC you will get less for your money. Just remember that if you spend $250 for a Laptop that you will get a $250 Laptop. I really would not suggest spending under $600 for a Laptop. If you spend under that you will really wish that you spend the little bit more to get more. compfreak847
Go with dell - awesome computers for less. The non name brands are a lot more likely to go belly-up. The Inspiron E1505 (link to dell's product description page) is great if your looking to spend around 800-1100. Get it around Christmas - great sales. You can get a very nice PC with the same amount of money for an ok laptop. Laptops have more problems in general too. Take my word, don't get a laptop. I know people who have gotten a laptop uselessly (me being one of them) and regretted it. Unless you really need a laptop, don't do it. And you don't need it. limpbizkit
err id like 2 note something you should ALWAYS put the laptop on something like a desk so the fan can work with ease basicly not your legs or sofa so ur body/sofa dosent mold in to the laptop burn it and/or clog the fan so it gets broke...
