I don't think i can get a decent computer for ~$500 though, and when i go to college in a year or so, they require you to buy Mac laptops.. and thats about 2 grand right there...

As for a Wii, thats not a bad idea... although I have an Xbox360 already, and am happy with it.. last generation[in gaming] I had a Gamecube and Xbox, and the Gamecube was rarely played... mainly it was just for Zelda, super smash, and F-Zero...

well taking your hd and cd drive(s) and case are a good bet, and for 500$ you can get at least a ok setup that can run most regular programs around. i forget some good url's but a custom build for 500$ wouldnt do too bad

Well, I suspect that the Wii's are pretty good. They're ALL sold out in my area, so they must be pretty damn popular.

u & me go to a strip club and blow our 500 dollers there

i say spend $250 and save $250 in the bank, a penny saved is a penny earned.

Les Paul's are hot as hell. I'm spending my $500 on a new tower though, got the monitor for Christmas.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

I'd go for a new Digital Camera or the clothes and other random stuff. Those two things will get the most and better product out of your money as getting a good computer you don't have enough money. And as you said you need to get a $2000 laptop for college next year.

Theres the Olympus FE-120 Camera. It is Cheap (highest price I saw in review was around 230 dollars) and it got decent reviews on the camera listings.

You don't have to drop a load of money for a camera to get great-looking photos. Of the three new models that made this month's chart, the least expensive camera delivered the best image quality.

The $230 Olympus FE-120 took very impressive shots. The trade-off is that it lacks some of the exposure controls that many other models offer; also, it lasted only 203 shots in our battery tests. In contrast, the ultraslim Casio Exilim EX-S600 took 415 shots.

I think a good quality camera could help you with your artwork, I dont know if you edit pictures and such often, but a good camera is pretty handy. I don't know about the shipping but I'm sure you could find a decent price for one nearby.

With the remaining money, you could save it, or just buy some new clothes and stuff for yourself.

That's my suggestion :D

Edit: ^^I was writing my post when you posted that, I didn't copy O:)

You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."

As legit as I am sitting here on my chair. Glad you like it.

You can buy a computer that is good enough for $500. But since you are just going to have to get another one next year, I say just suffer through with the one you have.

Spend about $100 on something you want, and save the rest. You will need it a lot more once college comes around.

As for your guitar/amp, it's only going to sound as good as the weakest link. So if you buy a $400 guitar and a $150 amp, the package will sound like $150.

I'd suggest getting the fender, and then waiting until you can afford an amp worth at least ~$250.

Camera. Probably my favorite item I own due to the fact I've captured so many memories with it over the years, and it's fun looking back =).

Wii's are cool too, fairly cheap.

And the bible is the big book of lies, call me a racist if you must.

If you buy your parts online and have use parts from your old comp like the case, and the HD and stuff, oh and the drives like dvd drive or cd drive and you could easily put together a nice gaming rig.

If you live in Canada check out http://www.tigerdirect.ca it's the perfect site with tons of deals so check it out, you could just make checklists and stuff trying to find what works for you. I was going to do this once with like 600 bucks starting from scratch and i had enough for a nice rig. With the parts you already have you could get a really good rig with that money. I'd get the pc, you can do so much more on it.

I built mine for 800 bucks, 300 gb HDD, 2 gb overclocked ram, 2.8 processor, and it works great, you've already got the HD, it should be a cheaper build.

Why do you bother posting here if your not going to add to the topic?

I'll agree with Carlo on this one. If you can't think of anything you need yourself, you should just save the money.

Sounds like you are showing off, though.
