Woah thats amazing, you can't imagine the feelings the parents of the 4 year old's must be feeling. Although it's kinda weird that he never tried to escape, like that girl who was kindnapped for so many years in russia? somewhere like that.

Thx for sharing.

Wow, thats great... I would have given up hope too.

That's just crazy. Why didn't he run away when sleeping in the tent with the guy, or running away when he was at work. :?

I also would've given up hope.

I <3 Gears of War 2.

Add me on Xbox Live and mention you are from Tif :D

I just saw that on two different news shows. I found it hilarious, yet understandable, that the hometown of the boy lost since '02 had given up hope, it showed videos of a candlelight memorial and he has his own memorial fund or something like that. I would feel so strange coming home after living essentially a third of my life with a crazy man, and with everyone thinking I was dead and all.

That's a miracle!

Though were the children brain-washed or something? What's with them not knowing that their whole town was looking for them. :? And surely after 5 years you'd try and escape back home. Weird.

4 years is a third of your life?

Anyway, to answer those wondering why he didn't run away, im assuming the Kidnapper used the same techniques as the dude who locked up that Austrian (i think) girl for like 20 years.

He, at first, threatened and beat the young woman into submission, and then when she had lost the will to escape, he started being nice, in a twisted sort of way. He would reward for her for sex, or cleaning up his house whereas he hadn't before, and he would let her go outside on her own, but told her she had a bomb strapped to her, and would kill her if he saw he running away or talking to a policeman. Eventually she grew used to him and sort of depended on him as he was the only person she had had contact with for years, and so Stockholm Syndrome developed, and even when she had the chance to kill him in his sleep and escape, she didn't, because she relied on him essentially.

Thats what i think has happened to these boys.

I think he meant the life he had lived, not the life he has yet to live.

Anyways it nice to hear things like this. Though 4 years with a stranger and he never tried to escape.. If I was that kid, I would have taken any chance I could get to kill that man or escape..

Wow, thats awesome they found them.

I saw this really disturbing article about two Polish girls who got kidnapped for something like 7 years - The man got one girl pregnant 3 times, and made the other girl learn how to be a midwife :uhh:

They got out eventually. - I'll try and find a link to the article, they were both really clever.
