How u make a website that doesnt say bloger or invisonfree

Featured Replies

How do you make a website (like tip.it), that doesn't say ".blogger" or ".invisionfree." How do you make one that just says ".com"?

Is it really necessary for capitals. It frightens me! :ohnoes:

And yes you have to buy them. But you can get ones which are good, which have an ending such as [LikelyScam] which you can get off http://www.dot[LikelyScam] It just sounds better than invisionfree in my opinion.

edit: www3dot3tk (remove 3's and add "."). have no idea why its a forbidden site, sounds really stupid to me, considering its not doing any harm.

you have to buy the domain name.

Not necessarily.

Some websites will allow you to have the domain name free, but you pay for the hosting. And vice versa.

Or you can just get a freewebs/geocities or whatever and get a redirector such as .co.uk.tt (like my forum is http://www.strategic-projects.co.uk.tt).

either way you're still paying coin.

@sam: you could speak to skelm about a hosting deal :)

Actually i'm not too bothered at the moment. But if the forum were to grow, and I intergrated it more into my website, i'd probably think about it. :)

^ Take the offer. The forum is a bit messy :P

Hush you. It's not worth upgrading while I have only 8 members. :P

You have to be committed to your website or community from the start if you want it to be successful. Having the attitude of only getting a proper domain name and hosting if it gets popular shows that you really don't care if it fails or not. Be prepared to spend a fiver a month on hosting.

We've already established that you have to pay to get a .com name, so let it drop.

And no, Yahoo don't do free webspace like MSN/Geocities. Googlemail does, but it sucks, you have to use templates.

If you want a personal URL, you'll either have to cough up the money or get a re-director for free.

Some how get a personal FTP server then use Dreamweaver?

What site do you run?

In the near future I will consider hosting Runescape sites and buying domain names for them if they need and if they are big enough to justify the expenditure. This would be done in exchange for a text link back to my site I imagine.

Don't bother. Its been tried at least 4 times in the past. The problem with people wanting to run RS sites is that they don't want to pay a penny to do it. They are quite happy with their crappy free host spammed with adverts. They don't care enough about their sites in order to spend money on it.

Ok, let me rephrase that.

I'm doing a sort of beta testing. Getting used to how things work, how I can fix things and generally how members will react. Once I know enough, I will definately consider getting a proper domain name. I'll also need to sort out some e-money aswell. :P

Running your website on a free host like Invisionfree will not give you the skills and experience required to run a real and professional website.
