Sorry but I don't think the letter would help out that much. The President probably won't actually read it, much less make a personal reponse to it. In my civics class, some people wrote him letters and he just gave them back an automated response letter. I think the President probably knows what's going on. Even if he wants to do something about it he probably can't because he has to take into consideration all of the people who are anti-World Police, as was proven on this topic earlier.

As for the Darfur thing, we had a dodgeball tournament to raise money to save people in Darfur actually which was pretty cool. That's nice that you care this much for these people but honestly, I don't know if there is much you can do =\. I guess like Bubsa said, as long as you a

re increasing awareness you are helping out.

Thats really cool how you raised money, does anyone think anything about the pictures?

hmmmmmm..... last i checked this was the United Nations JOB to prevent this, but, just like rawanda, they made a rule not to call it a GENOCIDE , because if it was a genocide the UN WOULD BE obligated(meaning "oh, lets go send 5000 peacekeepers to do a terrible job, then as soon as one gets killed, pull out.) so, even though its the uns job to take care of this, they have to find the easy way out.

ps, no matter how strong the president feels about this, theres no way that he would let this country get into another war with iraq and afganistan on his plate.

Say what you mean and mean what you say because those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter.

the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.

yes, it is a genocide, and yes, the US is in the UN, not only the US needs to respond, but the whole world.

What do you mean? Also if USA invaded Sudan to change things how would they fight this movement? Are the rebels huge armys or insurgents like in Iraq and dotted around the country?

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

In my opinion, the UN don't have NEARLY enough firepower, manpower or legal power to deal with probles such as these. Seriously, they should get real about expanding thier organisation into a real world force. Don't get me wrong, it's great that have been around to help in places like Rwanda, but it just seems the problems elsewhere are too big for them.

They have the ability to call on the armys of the countries part of the UN. Although i reckon there would be a few thousand from each country or something.

Now I'm no expert on the UN, but if they call on a country, you could assume the could say no, correct? In other words I think the UN would be the last people to demonstrate forceful tactics. My point here is that they need a purely UN force (I'm talking like around 100,000 troops) that can deal with problems such as these with military dominance over whatever insurgencies they face.

People dislike that idea as they beleive it is a step towards NWO. I think countries if they have a majority vote should HAVE to send a section of troops to fight for the UN.

In my opinion, that's just what we need my friend, the old one aint' workin'. Now I'm not saying make an army to be a protagonist in world war 3, but merely as a global security force. Anyways, just my humble ideas.

Sad to say, support from a Runescape community wont do anything but make people see the ammount of caring people... :?

Which could be said for World War One and Two aswell. However we should have more decency to step in when people are suffering i would have thought. We put ourselves in those childrens shoes. Fearful a lot of the time that they will be kidnapped and murdered, raped, shot, tortured and so on. They deserve our help just as every human being does.

My assumption then, is that you support any military action that stops a race of people from having mass genocide being committed against them purely because of their ethnicity?

I support any militay action that stops any genocide for any reason. No race deserves to be wiped off the face of the Earth..

I agree 100%. Genocide needs to be stopped, and now. There is a saying, known as a picture is worth 1,000 words. The picture of the kid and the vulture is worth about 1,000 tears, let alone words.

The thing didn't work, I understand why, I am trying to get this to be a "Hot Topic". If you could tell your friends about this, and possibley post, that would be nice, THANKS!

tifsbti6oi.gif

Activism is great. Awareness is great. Advertising is not. If people don't care enough to promote the issue, then double posting is not going to make them.

I suppose the Sudan genocide is just a conspiracy as well, which is being run by our government so they can steal millions of dollars in donated money?

No not really.

No, but if the thread starter really wanted to help the victims of the Sudan genocide he should probably spend the majority of his time working a job and donating all the money he makes directly to low-overhead cost charities instead of posting on an internet forum.

Point Being: Do more, talk less. Genocide in Africa has been going on for several thousand years now, if not more.
