January 29, 200719 yr If you've noticed, "peace" talks and "peace" treaties always precede the worst fighting of a conflict, like Ethiopia/Somalian War, Ethiopia/Eritrean War, Sierra Leone Civil War, Angolan Civil War, jeez they're almost endless. "Peace" in Africa tends to mean "I'll put my weapons down for awhile, go see my family, then come back and fight some more." Don't forget the Rwanda/Burundi war, I believe the loss of life was about as much as Sudan is now. BTW Locke, I support Darfur action, and the removal of Saddam. Me doing staff.
January 29, 200719 yr Yada yada, I'll stay on topic.... I went to Cambodia once before and went to the Killing Fields, is what I believe they are called, I saw a plaque that stated "May the world learn from this so it may never happen again." I also have been to Auschwitz in Germany and say a similar phrase. If only the world will learn. Search "Genocide" along with "never again" and you get people doubting that it will ever cease to exist. I cant believe how sad that this is the moral that people have. It needs to change, it will stop, we just have to learn like so many have asked us to. Sure, the world sends some food and a small ammount of money, but obviously, that's not enough. THE WORLD isn't doing enough, it is THE WORLD that is blind. How many times must a man look up Before he can see the sky? Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry? Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind. How many years can a mountain exist Before it's washed to the sea? Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist Before they're allowed to be free? Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head, Pretending he just doesn't see? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind. I believe he sais it 100x better than I ever could. It's sickening. ~ Clicky for the blog of No Cb Skils ~
January 29, 200719 yr Countries need to solve their problems on their own. As harsh as it sounds, it's true. I must radically disagree. "Countries" aren't god-given entities that exist by themselves. A country is a piece of land with imaginary borders that has been recognised by other states, and is inhabited by humans. Humans in all countries are similar by the nature of their existence. If a country is willing to kill hundreds of thousands of civilians who have nothing to do with the power-hungry desires of a government that got into power by manipulation, it's everybody else's moral duty to help those people. Don't think so? Think yourself in the same situation. This happens to children every day. They get abused beyond belief. They are kidnapped by rebel factions and trained to kill, forced labor, almost no nutrition.. Would you still say so, when you are not in the comfort of a country that hasn't seen wars for a generation? If you were actually there experiencing what those people experience every day?

Art Bazaar. I have a friend who's been to Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Djibouti, and he told me about how rough it is over there. It's really sad. But it's not as bad As Sudan and Uganda. January 29, 200719 yr Countries need to solve their problems on their own. As harsh as it sounds, it's true.Yea, we should have just let Hitler rein in Germany and continue to take over the world and kill many people because of their religions. Yea, helpless countries should just help themselves while we live in peace. Well, that is, until we're attacked, and by then we'll be screwed over because they own the world. Your theory is so flawed, summing it up, your an idiot, foreign policies are needed, hence how EVERY COUNTRY has them. As I've said before, most people have thoughts beyond themselves. ~ Clicky for the blog of No Cb Skils ~
January 29, 200719 yr Author Yes, it's really sad....Some people say that countries have to deal with their own problems (which is ok, it;s their thought) I think that if we have the resources/money to, we should take action. If you watch the movie, it mentions that the US helps a little, but not nearly enough. I hope this just dosen't turn into another World War 2. EDIT: PLEASE BE NICE TO ONE ANOTHER!!!ARUGMENT IS GREAT, BUT PLEASEEEEE KEEP IT NICE, I REALLY DONT WANT TO GET THIS THREAD LOCKED!!THANKS![/ EDIT, EDIT: PLEASE PM ME IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ABOUT A SIG.!
January 29, 200719 yr Author I've been looking in the Art Bazzar, no one is biting, i am trying to get a link for these shirts that you can purchse, the link should be up soon=)
January 29, 200719 yr Author All of you seem like you have good options, so I want you to help me write a letter, I will send it to the president, NO LIE! I hope I will get a response back! THANK YOU!!PLEASE MAKE IT WORK!
January 29, 200719 yr What do you mean, what would be included in this letter. I a really admire your spirit. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
January 29, 200719 yr Author I would talk about how I think that we have everything we need to help those people out. I really like how you guys make your points, I am wanting to put some of those in there, I also want to letter to be some-what proffeisonal(I am a teen)--look I can barley spell, lol. I have the what I am going to say for the opening, I will keep that to myself, once the letter is completed, I will share it with all of you. THANK YOU!

You might end up sending it to the White House, or even the Pentagon instead of directly to the President. I highly doubt he has time to read the mass amount of letters sent to him, the White House probably hires people to do it for him. Me doing staff.
January 29, 200719 yr I hear the American DOD is making a new division that will oversee military operations in the continent of Africa. This is maybe good news? the russians are the best! Hands down!
January 29, 200719 yr Author yeah, but I think that if i write this letter good enough, that maybe it will push it a bit over the edge.
January 30, 200719 yr Countries need to solve their problems on their own. As harsh as it sounds, it's true. I must radically disagree. "Countries" aren't god-given entities that exist by themselves. Would you still say so, when you are not in the comfort of a country that hasn't seen wars for a generation? If you were actually there experiencing what those people experience every day? There are times when action must be taken, when it is time to do the right thing. But there is no set situation when that is necessary, sorry. You just know when it's your moral obligation. Right now, we are fighting the war on terror, and dealing with citizens who reject our own president- wearing stupid t-shirts that say "Bush sucks" etc. Are you saying that we should just drop all our problems at home / in iraq or in addition to, AND fight this Sudan thing? That's riddiculous. You need to be realistic about these things. That's the problem with a lot of people, they think that since America is just this larger than life land of freedom with a freakin olive branch in its mouth, it should be responsible for all these other countries problems. We're not communists. So, the whole "What if you were there??" thing. Well of course you would want help, you'd be pretty odd for accepting your conditions as good! We cannot protect everyone though, i am sorry if that dissapoints you. Maybe we should just become this huge freakin empire and control everybody so that every country will be like america- huh? axeraider70.deviantART.com
January 30, 200719 yr There are times when action must be taken, when it is time to do the right thing. mmhmm But there is no set situation when that is necessary, sorry. You just know when it's your moral obligation. - How many deaths will it take 'till he knows that too many people have died? Right now, we are fighting the war on terror Oh really? I would consider these terrorists; wouldn't you? and dealing with citizens who reject our own president- wearing stupid t-shirts that say "Bush sucks" etc. Are you saying that we should just drop all our problems at home / in iraq or in addition to, AND fight this Sudan thing? That's riddiculous. Well that was off-topic...and the reason most would say Bush sucks would be because of his decision to go to war with Iraq instead of Afghanistan, or for his comment "Lets take 'em out, bring 'em on!" or for escalating the troops by 20,000 and at the same time saying we're trying to put more pressure on the Iraqi government or one of his his many many other stupid moments. ... Sure, we need to put more pressure on the Iraqi government, but adding 20,000 troops wont help that overall goal  You need to be realistic about these things. That's the problem with a lot of people, they think that since America is just this larger than life land of freedom with a freakin olive branch in its mouth, it should be responsible for all these other countries problems. Uhh, well the world should probably help as has been stated many times before. We're not communists. I'd like to note that, in theory, communistic governments are flawless, it's curruption that hurts their credibility. And how the hell would us being communists change anything? Since when were communists the world police your talking about? So, the whole "What if you were there??" thing. Well of course you would want help, you'd be pretty odd for accepting your conditions as good! We cannot protect everyone though, i am sorry if that dissapoints you. No we can't, but we can do a better job of fanning our support as opposed to focusing it...and heck, again, America isn't our only worry. Maybe we should just become this huge freakin empire and control everybody so that every country will be like america- huh? Or maybe America is only part of the equation, yet a big part. And the world completes that equation. ...Wow that was intelligent. ~ Clicky for the blog of No Cb Skils ~
January 30, 200719 yr Author HAHAHAHA!! That little meeting I was suppose to go to was NEXT MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall: :wall: I feel REALLLY stupid #-o EDIT: I put in some pictures.
January 30, 200719 yr We're not communists. I'd like to note that, in theory, communistic governments are flawless, it's curruption that hurts their credibility. And how the hell would us being communists change anything? Since when were communists the world police your talking about? In theory, a truly communist society has no government at all. It's Leninism, Cheism, Castroism, Maoism, JimJonesism, Taoism, Chaoism, Gurnism, and Ismism that took an impractical, unrealistic idea and turned it into a practical, unrealistic idea. But I digress. the russians are the best! Hands down!
January 30, 200719 yr action must be taken, We don't need a key, we'll break in. :P Cookie for whoever guesses what the heck I'm talking about. But about the Sudanese and the problem in thier country, I believe thier problems are as much religous as they are political. Muslims in the rich north and Christians in the poor south. I could be way off as I haven't followed this information up though.

Maybe we should have invaded them, they're obviously more worth it. Gamertag: King Arizona

What would the parents of these Sudanese children say?
January 30, 200719 yr Sorry but I don't think the letter would help out that much. The President probably won't actually read it, much less make a personal reponse to it. In my civics class, some people wrote him letters and he just gave them back an automated response letter. I think the President probably knows what's going on. Even if he wants to do something about it he probably can't because he has to take into consideration all of the people who are anti-World Police, as was proven on this topic earlier. As for the Darfur thing, we had a dodgeball tournament to raise money to save people in Darfur actually which was pretty cool. That's nice that you care this much for these people but honestly, I don't know if there is much you can do =\. I guess like Bubsa said, as long as you are increasing awareness you are helping out.
