falco513
Job for a Cowboy are technically defined as Deathcore, not Death Metal :) To add to the above list: Obituary Cryptopsy Berzerker Mortician

jezebelus
If you are into melodic death you should try Children Of Boddom and Norher. Personally I like this kind of music because its not too rough like regular death. divxtitles.com
Intriguing
Job for a Cowboy are technically defined as Deathcore, not Death Metal :) When labelling a band a certain sub-genre, unless the band has already clearly labelled themselves as something, the sub-genre that you choose to label them by is really at your own discretion. For example, I would call Job for a Cowboy metalcore. Regardless of whether or not that label works for other peopel in relation to their music, it works for me. Death metal is kind of a wide term for me, so if you'd like to name a few specific bands you already like, I'd be more than happy to help steer you in the right direction. If all else fails.. last.fm. :) Cool.

Sir_Alex85
You should try some rotting anus. Brilliant. Wow. That's the first time I've laughed at loud on something on here in a while. You got the LITERAL LOL! I was going to create a Death metal band. Just for kicks. I was even writing music for it. I have it written. But nooo. Some other band was using the name. I wanted to be kind of cliche, so it was named SATANICA. But my friend searched it up on msn, and found the Myspace of a Japanese death metal band. I'd be angry, but they're actually pretty good. XD Anyways, Death are probably my favourite death metal band. I don't really listen to the genre way too much, though. It really has

Avenged sevenfold is kinda strange metal tho...But there my favorite band ( next to metallica ofcourse <3) 'cept they aren't metal. I have a band on the tip of my tounge but can't think of it. I'll find out once I get home (its a progressive death/blackish metal band). Btw Dann, we don't insult your musical taste so could you know do the same in every metal thread you see? :)

magerx7
Wow, I was quite surprised this thread was still alive. Thanks for all the sweet bands. wakka102
not directly no  . Nah, really not. Just mocking a bit, don't take it too serious. :)The bands don't take it seriously either. However, you can't deny that metal has some of the greatest musicianship of any genre out there. Try picking up a guitar and playing Frantic Disembowelment by Cannibal Corpse or Destros Secret by The Dillinger Escape Plan. I've seen interviews with Cannibal Corpse and Slayer and they are very smart guys who don't take their music seriously. They just have a drive to make their music as brutal as possible because its what they like to do. It's all image but a lot of people like it, such as myself. And I doubt that the artists don't take it very serious. A lot of them don't. The ones that do (many power metal bands come to mind) often become targets of ridicule. For example, check out The Black Dahlia Murder's (really popular local band) Myspace. I'm not a real fan of their metal, but its OBVIOUS by just browsing their page, they are there to have fun, being serious about it is one of the last things on their list... Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
Ragen
I don't think that Metal Bands don't take themselves seriously either. There is no reason why they shouldn't take themselves seriously unless they are writing over the top material, like I believe Canibal Corpse is (I haven't actually heard any of there material, I'm just going on the name). Slayer definately take themselves seriously, just read some interviews of the band members and see. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar! magerx7
I agree with some of you, and I also don't agree with some of you. I think it really depends on the band members personal personalities when you are deciding whether they are serious about their music or not. I mean, if some bands want to become big, they are usually serious about their music, but, if the band just wants to play some hardcore, head bangin, awsome music, then they just have fun and play. That is just my outlook on that topic.
