A profitable experiment!

Let me begin the story a bit early... I had just gone on a regular Dagannoth kings trip with Soma2035, Valaraz, Timeoutsmad and Markiscool3. We did well, getting 2 dragon axes, a mud battlestaff and a berserker ring. Good 9.96 mil there - 1.992m each.

This part isn't really important but while I was in Seers' Village bank after the trip, a level 47 trades me. "What does he want?" I wonder. So I trade him and he puts up a granite shield. For some reason, I bought it.

So then a bit later I was doing slayer and I got a task for 164 (I think) Dagannoths from Duradel. Now, I had been wanting to go to the Dagannoth kings on a slayer task for a while now, and find their HP and Slayer XP. So I asked Valaraz, "Can you do me a favor?", and told him my plan. We were going to go to the Dagannoth kings, just the two of us, so I could solo Prime and Rex twice myself, then kill Rex a few more times together and hope for some drops. I had never maged at the kings before but I knew the set-up okay (Remember the granite shield I bought earlier? ;)). So Val and I headed to Seers' Village, where we met up with his friend Cece (abbreviated, don't know full name ) who was going to suicide for us.

We headed off to Waterbirth Island, and went through the tunnels okay. Val went down and investigated the lair when we got there, and decided to switch worlds. So Val and I log in to the new world, and he tells me: "Cece died". Great. So we try to go down alone, and there were people there. Great. Both of us nearly died in the lair, so we teleported out and regrouped for a second try, along with Cece. So we go back, through the tunnels and into the lair. It went better that time, Cece successfully luring Prime and Supreme up while Val and I ran east to the Rex safespot.

What happens next? The people from before were there - we had decided not to switch worlds. I was a bit nervous but Val decided to stay. So we went up and I soloed Prime while Val stabbed Spinolyps and stared at the wall. :P Then the 121 pops up and starts to range on the second one, fortunately he got the message I was doing an experiment and stopped. So that went okay. They (the 121 and 110 that were there first) seemed all right at first, but after I had soloed my Primes and was waiting for them to leave so Val and I could have Rex, they lured Prime over and stepped next to Val and I. We flipped on protect from magic in time, so no worries. Still, disgusting lurers... they teleported out soon after that. So Val and I killed a good amount of Rexes after that, and I was happy I had retrieved the data we'd gone after. It went well for a while after, until another lurer (this one was level 101) came and pulled both Prime AND Supreme over. I prayed mage and was getting owned with 30s by Supreme, so I had to teleport out. Heart pounding, I frantically ask Val if he's okay. Fortunately, he somehow managed to survive and kill Rex a bit more. I don't know what happened to the lurer.

After gobbling some sharks and Saradomin brew, I teleport to Camelot and wait for Val for about 5-10 minutes. He appears next to me, and I ask, "Anything good?". Expecting the answer to be no, Val trades me and puts up a Berserker ring. So he accepts and I go off to world 2 to sell it, literally finding a buyer before I even walk through the fence to Falador park. He puts up 2 mil and I accept, then go back and bring 1 mil to Val. We thanked each other for the experience, and hoped you'd enjoy this read of our 'profitable experiment'!

If you're wondering, here's the data I was hunting, and retrieved: all Dagannoth kings have 331 HP and give 331.5 slayer experience when on a Dagannoths slayer task. It was I who submitted the HP that are currently in the Bestiary, back when the Dagannoth kings were first released and we didn't have proper killing methods established yet... I really couldn't pay attention properly since I wasn't killing them properly and I had to gobble sharks and keep my finger on 'teleport to safety' and didn't get the right numbers. I'm sure of the data this time though. Good thing we have me for this sort of crazy work. :P Hope you enjoyed the story and data!

There's plenty actually. The slayer XP is just never one FULL integer more than the HP. Trust me, I know my stuff with this.

Here's a few examples:

Black dragons - 199 HP - 199.4 slayer

Blue dragons/Elf warriors - 107 HP - 107.6 slayer

Basically... HP = Math.floor(slayer XP).

i always thought that the slayer xp you got was the amount of damage you dealt to the monster(even if you didnt kill it).

so if the monster heals 1 hp while you're killing it, that means you get 1 extra slayer xp?

althought i never really kept track, so i could very well be wrong.

you are complaining about people (the 110 and 121) luring you when you TRIED TO STEAL THEIR WORLD? people like you ruin dk's, too lazy to find an empty world. anyway, cool, lucky on the zerker.

They said they were leaving soon and not to bother switching. And luring is worse anyways.

Man you always were obsessed with counting hp.

Still am, you know that.

BTW, don't put your total level in your sig... might be easy for an enemy to find out who you really are... :ohnoes:
