Pyrex
A couple of things - Bringing 26 box traps for Chinchompas is a horrible idea. You will be getting random events every 5 minutes or so, and unless you don't like collecting the gems or genie lamps (gained 2 runecrafting levels while hunting chinchompas) bringing so many traps doesnt make any sense. I bought 6 back at level 27 when I started trapping Ferrets and I havent lost any traps EVER all the way to 76. - I question your timing you used comparing red salamanders, grey chinchompas, and spotted kebbits. I noticed that you are still only level 60 hunter, so I was wondering if you tested these numbers yourself for a full 10k XP on each, or took the numbers from somewhere else. I fully contend (and I am not the only one) that Red Salamanders are POSITIVELY the fastest hunter XP in the game, until level 80 when you can place 5 traps down for Red Chinchompas. - I assure you, I have tried every possible way to hunt, I have deadfalled, teased, tracked, snared, trapped, netted and caught imps in a box. While I concede I don't know everything about hunting, I know more now at 76 than I did at 60. -You use genie lamps, don't you? And if you seriously keep all the gems you get... -I've heard from many people that red chinchompas are best exp from 63-99, I have yet not seen a 99 hunter that would've said red salamanders. -You are you, not me, not elessar, not that jerk from last night, just you. krisc6
id reccomend on the way to 53(ghunting grey chimpchompas you hunt tropical wagtails.it took me a day to get from 19 to 53 hunting those.it was veruy boring at time but it was a lot better than travveling all over runescape
Hutchdown
-You use genie lamps, don't you? And if you seriously keep all the gems you get... -I've heard from many people that red chinchompas are best exp from 63-99, I have yet not seen a 99 hunter that would've said red salamanders. -You are you, not me, not elessar, not that jerk from last night, just you. -I do use Genie lamps, and I do keep all the gems I get, not sure how that is a bad idea. I felt that 26 box traps was excessive, if you don't then bring a full inventory of them. (BTW, still have lost zero traps from 63-79 hunting) -My comment on Red Salamanders was in reference to leveling from 59-63, although, they are indeed faster XP even at 63 and remain so until about 74. I too caught Red Chinchompas from 63 on (currently 79), because I need the money. I assume we are catching Chinchompas for the same reason, money. -Not sure what the last comment was about, but if you are saying that each person has their own preference, I agree, and use whatever strategies you feel are best. I only provided my opinions based on the facts that I have collected. I felt this was the best written guides of the hunting guides I had seen, which is why I felt like I should reply to this one instead of the other ones, hoping my ideas would help others using this guide. Elessar3019
Hutchdown, thank you for providing alternate methods of leveling. I admit that I did not include all the possibilities, only those that seemed best to me. In my opinion, you learn most when you question the thinking behind anyone who professes to know a lot in a certain subject. Not only did you learn, but I have discovered some new ways to train hunter (lvl 69 as of last night WOOT!). BTW, I'm sticking with chinchompas; I have 1,130 right now, and they sell for a total of 904k. perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is anotherAMEN! Ianw77
Great guide 1 minor error on the map of the Castle Wars/Ardougne area you said the southern most transportation spot is a fairy ring, it's actually the place where the ogres canoe you from the RFD quest. Elessar3019
nice guide, im trying to get 99 hunter right now, what is better xp, red salimanders or red chimando(i cant spell it =P~ ) This is debated. I prefer chinchompas, but some ppl say salamanders are faster until 70 or 75. Once you get to about lvl 72, definitely chinchompas, you catch around 250 per hour, which equates to 60k-something exp. It's up to you; maybe you could try half an hour at each one and decide for yourself. perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is anotherAMEN! andufusthebronze
9/10 You obviously tried hard on this guide, and spent a lot of time on it. It shows, and I think you should be proud of yourself. A few more pictures would help, however.

alcoolj
Good guide, and pretty much what I did to my current level (72). I always have 10 traps in my inventory for fear of getting teleported from a random, I also bring iron knives to kill chinchompas that are too far away - makes a big difference in catching rates I have found. By the time you are catching red chins, you should have the Larupia (sp?) top, hat and legs. Dunno the exact effect, but every little bit helps. Rebornflames
I've been following your guide and you mention that doing Eagles Peak at level 27 hunter will take you to level 31. After completing the quest I found the 2500 exp reward only took me up to level 29 from the initial 27 before the quest. I thought I'd let you know. I think its a great guide and so far it has been very useful to me. Thanks for posting this. -Reborn As the flames that made up the phoenix slowly burned out,Only ashes were left where once it stood,It would be reborn from the ashes,The phoenix would rise again. the_enforcer
I just was checking out the Hunter Calcs on Tip.it and I see that swamp salamanders are 152 xp each, while Spotted Kebbits are only 104.5 xp each. Which is better? Do you catch salamanders faster at a higher level? (I'm going for 99)
Bugs315
You know, It'd take about 4-5 days of non-stop RuneScape to get 1-99 Hunting NOT knowing what you're doing...that is with the exception of bathroom brakes, eating, and bathing everyother day. imnewathis
yeah..salamanders are the best xp really. i did the swamp ones from 30 to...45 then tried the falconry thing..leave it at this THE WORST XP EVER! so i did the desert lizards ..that was great great xp really worth it, and if you release them as soon as you catch them you can run non stop most of the time. then i got to 53 hunter and tried the chinchopmas ..at 53 hunter horrible xp and very slow catchings.
