Give me a reason to live...

sorry serious and depressing thread on its way.

Ever wondered what wrong with the world?

Well I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m going to explain it. Democracy. From the day you are born to day you die you are constantly in a fight, and no one cares how you feel. Society does not care about your opinion. Your one lonely voice does not mean a thing, unless everyone else agrees with you. You do not have a voice to be heard. The one murderer̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s voice doesn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t mean [cabbage] because no one else wants to go around killing everyone, so is that fair on the guys who̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s going to be locked up because society won̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t let him do what he wants. Every aspect of your life is a struggle and bad things can and most probably will happen to you. From age 1 ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ 15 you get bullied in school, or your self conscious and bully other kids, or you don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t have any friends. Your life may be care free but its certainly not free, you have to go school, and you get told what to do every second of the day. Looking on to 15 ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ 21 you have to go and work in an absolutely [cabbage] job or you have to waste away your life getting good grades only to go get a job with more money. 21 ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ 60 you have to go to work, and most of you have to raise a family pouring all your money into someone and all that effort just to keep someone alive, and for what? So they can die in 90 years! What a joy lets waste m life so I can bring another person into this hell trap we call life! 60 -> and your bored̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ you have nothing to do but sit on your [wagon] and watch TV. oo how fun! Laws are one of the things that annoy me most, they limit you all the time, it hold back evolution. The thing that annoys me most, people's arrogance, they think that the world is great, because they are so determined not to get depressed and only to look at the happy things, how things can never happen to you (like cancer), you think your invincible, the way you judge other people (are you perfect), how pointless your life is but yet still you put in so much effort just so you can die at the end of it all, and then what does it mean? Well I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve had enough of typing now. But I really do challenge you, to think of any aspect on how you think life is good, and worthwhile, because its simply not, all your doing is trying to stay alive, but why bother? Your life is meaningless.

So give me one good reason to live...

edit: a lot of you are not understanding my question. I am not suicidal, and I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not asking give me one good reason not to die. So let my try and explain a little better, given the choice of being given a life or not why would you want to be born? or why would you want to bring another life onto the world? What̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s the point in being born, so let me rephrase my question. Give me one good reason why I should be alive.

Ok so amongst all the flame i have been having I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve decided to make a dedication to the idiots or the people who did not answer my question and then tried to act as if i was idiot for posting a question they can not understand

Congratulations!

You have officially proved yourself to be even more of an idiot then I thought you were yesterday...

If you don't want to accomplish anything in your life even if no one is going to remember you for it then you really don't have a reason to live.

That is my whole point and yet your calling me an idiot for having the same view point as me :-s

Why live?

Why not?

I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m not asking why I shouldn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t live.. I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m asking what the point is in the human race being here.

Cut the bullcrap. Please. Everything you posted is wrong. It's all wrong.

need̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s no explanation really just trying to create flame.

his views are not valid.

everyone's views are valid, and what you did there was prove my point, and you are the people who ignore that one voice who is different from everyone else, just because he is different. I hate that type of person, the thing i loath most in the world.

Congratulations, you've begun questioning the world around you. :)

Well, I'm not in the mood to type a novel for you. However, I can say that after having thought more than most people ever do and knowing about a rather large number of schools of thought... There's one thing I can tell you.

Living is the better option because you are alive, and because there is possibility.

Treat life as an adventure, or a quest perhaps. It's the adventure that matters, not the end result. :) Even if you don't know why you should live now, you may in the future...you will learn a lot of things.

why not live, have fun? try going to church 1 time in your life. im not saying this to try to turn you into a christian, but just to say that out of most people, christians have the most too live for. mainly because the bibble says too but.....

Say what you mean and mean what you say because those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter.

It is as though you have an eye

That sees all forms

But does not see itself.

This is how your mind is.

Its light penetrates everywhere

And engulfs everything,

So why does it not know itself?

Heres your reason, the world already sucks enough, why make it worse by killing yourself over it, when you could instead try making it better?

Or, you'll die eventually anyways, so why not live out your life and see if things start looking up before your death?

I'm sorry but going to church doesn't just instantly make your life better. If the only reason that you are living is because you think that some guy that never gives you a single sign of existence other than a book a bunch of so called "disciples" wrote, you need to rethink your life. Live for the fun of life. Why focus on the bad when there's so much good around you? Be selfless to your kids because your parents did it for you. Return the favor so that some day your kid will be a good person.

You've obviously never had a child of your own, if you had, you'd feel much differently. The joy of watching someone grow up is almost indescribable. Knowing that you can help them be a better person and support them is just an amazing feeling.

Ironically I'm listening to a song called 'weak and powerless' by A Perfect Circle while reading this. How depressing.

The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: "Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride."

Find something you have a passion for. No, TV doesn't count. Usually.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Life may be initially meaningless, but we give it meaning through our actions and inactions. you seem to be describing all the 'Evils' of society, which is fine. they do exist. But i hope you realize there is good. Meeting new people, building relationships, enjoying entertainment, feeling good sensations (Interpret this how you like), Feeling successful, positive thinking. These are all things in the world which are good. The problem is, they seem like such small things. How can positive thinking be such a good thing? I causes others to be positive, and happy. How can building relationships and meeting new people be good? Social interaction is a human, need, and fulfilling it makes yourself and another person happy.

Sure sometimes people feel like they are invincible, but thats their own fault. Although its good to know that anything can happen at any time, being happy is also a good thing. People need to find that happy balance in their life, between know about bad, and knowing about good so that they can acheive a happy, meaningful life.

To sum that all up, being happy and living is the reason to live.

Well if there is no afterlife, you just wasted 1/42 of your life sitting in church on a gamble that there is an afterlife. Of course there are also some good parts, meeting new people, helping the unfortunate, etc.

It's values arn't bad, but, of course, if you're just doing that to get that unprobable room upstairs, then you don't do it.

Let's not get on the religious stuff anymore... Don't want this locked.

Nansen saw the monks of the eastern and western halls fighting over a cat. He seized the cat and told the monks: `If any of you say a good word, you can save the cat.'

No one answered. So Nansen boldly cut the cat in two pieces.

That evening Joshu returned and Nansen told him about this. Joshu removed his sandals and, placing them on his head, walked out.

Nansen said: `If you had been there, you could have saved the cat.'

Freedom? What is that?

But really I've thought about this a lot. No I'm not going to kill myself and no I'm not depressed, but I thought of what freedom really means.

Some how I don't think that most people will understand this. I don't really get the point of throwing out philosophy without explaining why it even pertains to the discussion. Quoting other peoples thoughts doesn't help the discussion. Let alone not giving credit where credit is due... I'm surprised because I like most of your responses, always thoughtful, but really, does it help the throw out some little quote that really doesn't make discussion any better?

I think that the maker of this topic should just go do something fun and see how great life can be. Life is only as good as you make it, and saying things like this topic will make it exactly as you think. I wanna have fun, so I do. You think life it pointless, therefore, to you, it is.

A perfect spot for my favorite quote:

"it's the journey not the end"

Life is what you make it, not what you are given by society.

If we didn't take anything from society our lives would be nothing.

I don't think it is supposed to be understood. Its point is not to advise. Quoting other peoples thoughts is all I can do to help the discussion; I don't think advice helps people who are depressed. Loving life comes from living life, not understanding it. I didn't give credit to the author for the second Koan, as I don't really know who wrote it. It was compiled by Mumon in the Mumonkan or The Gateless Gate.

Does it help? No. Does anything? Not really.

Find a hobby.

Find something you love to do.

And stick wit' it.

Become really good at it.

Do what you love, love what you do.

But if I can do something great, even if nobody remembers me for it, ill die a happy man
