"The crowd" as you call them, believe that, say, murdering is bad. I'm guessing you don't go with the crowd, and decide that murdering is okay because "the crowd" is a terrible source of information. As a 'Scaper would say, grow a Logic level or two. He means you shouldn't go with the crowd for the sole reason of going with the crowd. Tyranny of the majority is a terrible thing. The purpose is not to go against the majority on every issue, just to think for yourself. The majority of people would never allow murder because our main interests are self protection. To have self protection there must be some form of punishment for this crime. Whether the state gives the punishment or the collective individual does not matter. So "grow a logic level or two" should be said to yourself, as going with the majority is not always a good thing, and can discrinminate against individual members of society, and individualism allows for progress for everyone. I suppose I see what you're saying, but it simply seems that some concepts of society are so simple that not going with "the crowd" would seem quite stupid. Evolution, for example. You just do what you do, no reason at all. That's too true, think of anything you do. As a 6 year old kid you go to school, because some old people decided it would be a good thing for you. The reason originates from them. Still, in some countries, kids don't go to school for a variety of reasons (mostly poverty). Going to school itself is not a reason. You work a job, for a supposed reason. To make money to pay your bills. But really, you just pay those bills to "see another day". To have fun with your family, a sport or whatever your genes and environment molded you into liking. You can give your life any meaning you want, just don't take it for granted. They would beleive that common sense in people would rule, and allow for freedom at the same time. It's essentialy reverting back to a State Of Nature where the state is absent. As i said, depending on what you beleive human nature to be anarchy would work or not work. Some would take the majority of humans to be rational beings by nature and so if someone was to commit murder the people would decide the appropriate punishment. However, if you have no faith in human nature as Hobbes said, life in the state of nature would develop into a war of alla against all, making life nasty, brutish and short. So don't throw out the essance of Anarchism when you assume that it is total chaos, because that may be your opinion but not others. Well converting to Anarchism after being in society wouldn't work because of peoples common sense and what not. But if we were to completely erase any thought of society and any trace of its existence, it would work. Well, in a primitive state at least. Me doing staff. Not everyone has the same opportunities as we do "although the media and such try to make us think that way". There are 7.5 million millionaires in this world, find one that comes from a starving family, starts out with nothing, lives in a poor country/region, who did not have a chance to get an education, families who depend on the person's meager wages to barely survive, and lots more. Therefore anyone who is killed through anarchy is not fit enough to survive? Therefore if any of your loved ones were killed in this anarchy you would not care as it is simply survival of the fittest? P.S. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason.
