If you could...

change a part of your life (not sure about the time frame allowed, any suggestions?), which part would you choose to change?

For me, it would probably be something muddane. Maybe get a 4.00gpa stupid stuff. Maybe I could learn to exploit the treasures of the library at an earlier age.

Well I don't have anything exciting, how about you?

I'd make it so I was a bit more outgoing throughout school, I usually kept to myself and wouldn't say too much unless it was for a class.

Yeah, I had good grades and I was basically teachers pet in the majority of my classes, but I have barely any good memorys to speak of, just a wasted childhood, I'd give all of my knowledge and grades just to have lived life when I had more of a chance to.

We actually had to answer a very similar question to this in English class. I wouldn't change anything in my life. There are some things that I was/am not proud of, or maybe even wish I hadn't done. But those are all important experiences that define my opinions today, which I am generally pretty pleased with.

If there is something that I really want changed, I will strive for it.

There would be too many variables that could be affected by any change I might make. I don't want to run the risk of suddenly having never slept with a woman.

Let's not think about it too deeply. The change won't affect everything. Just try to think of a change that's a bit short term.

Like if I say, if I could change something, I wish I could've studied more. That basically affects your grades only, possibly social life, and grades in future job applications or something.

Sex is only a small portion of the things you can enjoy in life. Many people hype all over it. Some claim doing it will "solve your attitude problems".

Truth be told, happiness and enjoying things in life start with you. Remember, its not getting what you want, its wanting what you have.

I could be wrong, but I believe the whole "I want this, I must have it" started with advertisements. Every advertisement in the world is telling you that you DON'T have this item or product and without it, you cannot possible have a better life or your missing out on a great deal!

Its sad that our society has been demoralized into such a state.

Just think about it though.. you like baths right? What if you didn't have one? But you do, your wanting what you have. So that makes you happy. What if you never had electricity? I"m VERY greatful for it, I would die without it, LOL.

We may not have everything we desire in life, but God we got some of it!

And remember, materials NEVER make you happy. They just make you more comfortable while your miserable. Smiling is all your part :)

Yeah what you said, In school I tended to just get in trouble instead of what I was supposed to do.

Now I have a good job and all but it could be better.

That hypothetical affects a LOT of variables, especially since it can apply to four or so years of schooling where studying actually mattered somewhat.

The opportunity cost of time would affect my social life, independent research and learning, hobbies, sports, formation of opinion and eating patterns, among any number of other things. If I had studied more, I would have spent less time on the internet, and thus I wouldn't have been able to devote the time I have to my literary pursuits - as a greater focus on academics would have caused me to develop different interests.

A change that affects even a month's worth of decisions can change all the variables. The further back in time it is, the more variables are susceptible to change as well. Change too much, and, well, there go all the experiences that define who I am now.

If I could change ANYTHING?

Then I'd make myself live on a timeline where everyone I love live a perfect life. Perfect.

Or, I'd want to be transported 10 years into the past and still know everything I do today about soccer and in school and stuff and totally own EVERYONE :P

But to take a more serious example...I wish I had more confidence.

The only thing I could think of is not doing so badly my first semester of college, would have helped a lot.

Regrets are part of life. My dearest wish is to live my life to the fullest. That means highs, lows, good choices, bad choices. In the end I think you just have to have faith that things just go the way they are meant to go. So I wouldn't change a thing.

Maybe a bit weird, but sometimes I comfort myself with the idea of alternative universes. When I broke up with my first boyfriend (after 4 years) I comforted myself with the idea that somewhere in some place we shall grow old together... and that in another universe, we have never met and never will meet each other.

As others have said before, I would change nothing. I wouldn't be who I am today if these things did not happen. I may not be proud of every action I made, but it is all a learning progress and has made me a better person today, and will continue to. I don't like to live in the "what ifs" and "maybes", it's in the past, and no matter what you do, you can't undo it. Live and learn with consequences of your actions.
