Hey, i'm just wondering if anybody here knows anything about the ytmnd war campaign against ebaumsworld. If anybody wonders what ytmnd, or the war is, pm me, and i'll fill you in. I'm wondering what kind of supporters the runescape'ers are

allright, ebaumsworld, more importantly, eric bauman, has been maliciously pirating and in some cases attacking other websites for his and the website's personal gain. He takes images and such from sites such as somethingawful and fark, places his watermark on it, and gives it to the masses without the consent or representation of the original maker. What makes this worse is the fact that he generates lots of money from his site, with so many people clicking ads to help support this plagerizing(sp) giant.

but ebaumsworld took a wrong turn when they stole something from ytmnd (you're the man now dog, a site focusing on random, idiotic, yet still funny fads.) The ytmnd community backlashed, and brought down the ebaumsworld forums continually. It which was so long ago predicted has come into fruition!

Anyway, i'm just testing the waters here, seeing if there are any supporters of any side. If there aren't any, i'll move on; i wish not to intrude on this forum (seeing as i use the site constantly for tips =]).

I'm in for ebaumsworld getting pushed off the internet. I've always noticed some of it's content was rather "dodegy" in the "I've seen that before" kind of way.

Now all we need is for something from Maddox to get stolen and it's right to really take off

I like the Ebaumsworld videos, but stealing is not cool.

YTMND is a stupid, idiotic site. I don't understand it. :?

well, i don't want to *force* anyone into the "war effort" but i'm putting it out there that the more the merrier...anything can help the effort!

Notice how ytmnd is just the catalyst, and joining the ytmnd front means supporting 4chan, fark, somethingawful, LUElinks...and Neil cicierega.

Albino is good so is the Dev-art flash section, but i'll stick with newgrounds thank you.

ahh,i remember back when newgrounds, was, well, new ground (2000-2001, when i first was introduced to the "internet"). I still like albinoblacksheep better, but the newgrounds portal is teh usefulest for new stuff. Still, ytmnd reigns supreme IMO

Well, I have a friendly compromise rather than internet war. What if eBaum was forced to credit the websites he steals from rather than plagerise. In the end eBuam's website would just be a sort of archive of random sites where all their stuff is held. I dunno, it's kinda hard to force someone to stop stealing when they're already gotten so good at it.

The whole scenario's pretty interesting, but I can't see anything happening out of this 'war.'

I remember seeing that "lindsay lohan doesn't change facial expressions" thing on ebaums, then thinking that ytmnd would be mad about that. Sure enough, I went there and there were all of these new ytmnd's against it. I go to both sites, and don't really care what happens, because nothing really can happen out of it.

A very informative and funny animation and site about the [bleep] that ebaum is

Everyone knows Ebaumsworld has had a long history of stealing; if you didn't, now you do. Recently they have had fights with Something Awful, but when they stole from YTMND just recently it sparked off a large chain of events.

YTMND users, furious, asked Luelinks for help. Luelinks gladly accepted.

YTMND DECLARES WAR

Something Awful was also contacted, and the three forces planned for an attack on 12 AM EST. Word quickly spread after the attack began; Knova and Newgrounds happily joined in (Ebaumsworld has made many people angry, it seems). 4Chan, busy in a separate invasion of another site, also joined in some part with the smackdown.

The ebaumsworld.com forums have been mercilessly obliterated. At first, there was just heavy lag, until the database crashed. Eventually the forums came back up, but crashed again. When it arose the next time, it prevented anyone not logged into an account from even viewing the forums and began mass-banning any new users. They quickly went down again, this time fully- the forums sub domain temporarily shut down.

It came back on, of course, eventually. As of this moment, the forums page stands at not letting any non-member in, but there are still hundreds - if not thousands - of invaders infesting every core of their system.

  1.

[*:1l6voanz]At the start of the invasion, it began with taking over the Ebaums chats completely and infesting all their forums. Soon there were also DDOS attacks springing up form everywhere. The four big players of the attack were YTMND, Newgrounds, Luelinks, and Something Awful.

Picture of Forums raid with bogus users

[*:1l6voanz]There were numerous planning chats on AIM of 'The Raid', as it has come to be known as by many.

[*:1l6voanz]Soon enough Ebaums users retaliated with DDOS attacking Luelinks and possibly the other attacking sites. DDOSing is the only way they could possibly attack Luelinks, since they can't touch the boards themselves. The only thing its doing is causing a bit of lag and temporary errors here and there.

[*:1l6voanz]Many other sites joined in the attack effort, including, but not limited to, 4chan, Fark, Knova, IGN, and the LUE board of Gamefaqs.

[*:1l6voanz]Various people have been downloading the Ebaumsworld site EN MASSE with the help of a certain *legal* toll that does so for them. As a result, the site is always getting constant bandwidth drain as people garner every file in the site.

[*:1l6voanz]Luelinks found Eric Bauman's home address and business address. Expect hundreds of thousands of UPS boxes, Mormon bibles, and sex-related materials to be delivered there. It has been rumored they've also found his home phone number. Hilarity ensues.

[*:1l6voanz]As of 2:25 PM on Jan 8, Kenman, notorious hacker and mischief-maker extraordinary, was rumored to be assisting Luelinks in planning other stages of the raid.

[*:1l6voanz]With this turn, much more Luelinkers have begun to attack than before, as a cluster were afraid of the repercussions.

[*:1l6voanz]The ebaumsworld retaliation has taken a new step, as many people DDOSing Ebaumsworld have crashed into malicious packets designed to crash any pingers.

UPDATE

The gif hosted on the page Lindsay Lohan doesn't change facial expressions was branded with the eBaum's World watermark and was posted on the site. This caused an uproar in YTMND and massive amounts of anti-eBaum's YTMNDs have appeared. As of 1/7/06, YTMND users have contacted others from Newgrounds, 4chan, adult swim, KNova, Fark, LUE, LivingWithStyle, D-Day (Group), the Something Awful Forums, and LUElinks to spam the website. It should however be noted that simply because errant members have invited others to participate, The eBaum's World forums have repeatedly gone down and its chatbox is backlogged.

From a blog

"I got caught up in an internet war last night. I've experienced flame wars before, but this was something new. I've never seen something of this size before. The whole thing got started after Eric Bauman, the creator and owner of ebaumsworld.com, took a file from ytmnd.com and put his watermark on it. This enraged members of ytmnd.com, who along with individuals from newgrounds.com, fark.com, 4chan, and a host of other sites and message boards, flooded ebaum's forum and spammed his site for hours on end. It's actually still ongoing, with many continuing to mass ping, spam, and jam ebaum's live chat. The ebaumsworld.com forums are packed right now; no one is being allowed in. Last night the forums crashed at least twice and were hacked multiple times.

It's not like Eric Bauman doesn't desrve this. I'm all for causing this guy grief. There's a wiki articledetailing his perfidy. He's played fast and loose with copyright and intellectual property laws for quite some time. On top of that he's an all-around asshat. I don't really care for Eric Bauman. I tried to take part in the mass flood to the ebaum's forums (now called the "raid" or "ytmnD-day"), but I wasn't able to gain access. I did my part by uploading spam content to ebaum's servers. I also sent a few emails (read: a lot). I'll do my part, even if it was small in comparison to those who stayed up all night hacking and email bombing their servers. People have been calling for mass pinging, but I'm not sure how effective this is. I've heard some people say that it has no effect; others say it's akin to clogging the interstate in and out of a major city, which is supposedly capable of completely crashing the site's servers. It hasn't happened yet, and I don't think it will.

The surefire way to see to it that this guy gets his comeuppance is to contact his advertisers and inform him of what he's been doing. Hit him at the source: the almighty dollar. People could also contact ebaum's service provider and inform them that ebaum's is in violation of their terms of use. The message about what ebaumsworld.com does, which is profiting off of other people's intellectual property, should be disseminated. Sure, hacking and spamming is fun, but it won't bring down ebaumsworld.com permanently (there's a rumor going around that ebaum's was down for a short interval sometime during the last 24 hours, but this is just a rumor). This first "wave," or "offensive," or "round," of the "ytmnd War," as it is now being called, amounts to little more than a large-scale raid. There was a lot of vehemence behind it, and it may yet drag on for some time, but what it will achieve with its current methods will be minimal. Sure, it may serve to spread further enmity against ebaumsworld.com throughout the internet(s), but what effect this will have remains to be seen.

Over at ytmnd this thing is being treated like a revolution. There's a constant flow of propaganda and calls to action through ytmnds. If you don't know what a ytmnd is, then go here. It's hard to explain them without actually seeing them for yourself. It's gotten so significant that January 7 has been changed to "ytmnD-day" on Wikipedia. The most fascinating part of this is how internet sites and forums take on their own identities and cultures, and what you get are something akin to tribes. Each forum is utilizing its own methods of dissemination of information, propaganda, and calls to action. Sites have been set up as meeting areas, only to be taken down hours later because of "illegal activity."

The next "offensive" is slated to take place at 9:00 eastern tonight. Organizers are calling for school computer networks to be employed in bombarding ebaumsworld servers with a torrent of pings and spam. I'm looking forward to watching it all unfold. Eric Bauman, you are a jerk, and the people of the internet want you to know that."

I think this sums it all up perfectly.

http://ebaumsworldsucks.com/ Oh, a forewarning, there is a bit of swearing in this, so if you dont like it, i suggest you dont look at it.

If he did end up stealing Maddox's work, it could mess up ebaums world completely, considering the amount of people that read his site, if he made a rant that proposes to boycot ebaum, millions would probably join in and ebaums would go to hell.

Oh, btw, YTMND is frigging hilarious, no matter how stupid the things they make are. LolFish. So stupid yet i sat there, looked at it and started laughing
