hitmanme
This guide is written by Farsightj and some additions by Hitmanme Now I just want to make a note of this. This is written by a friend and edits by me so most of the credit goes to him. He gave me permission to edit and stuff so I have. (note pics may not ALWAYS correspond with words but mostly will) Barrows Guide DANGER - HIGH RISK Contents: -Introduction --Routes to barrows --Map of barrows -General strategy of barrows -A breakdown of all the brothers -What to take/with requirements --Ancients --Fire blast --Veracing --ilikerandom's 0 drink method -Notes and tips --Safe spotting --Regarding Kill Count (KC) --Puzzle Answers Basically BARROWS is a minigame set deep in the swamps of Morytania where you must kill 6 undead brothers and have the chance of recieving a piece of their armour/weapon. Other rewards include minds, deaths, bloods, chaos and bolt racks (ammo for Karil's crossbow). Of the six brothers, 4 are melee brothers (lvl 115), one is a mage brother (lvl 98) and the final is a range brother (lvl 98). Routes to take: There are three main routes used in going to barrows and are outlined here -Swamp method This route involves going through the gate into Mort Myre swamp and following it all the way south until you reach the path winding east. Follow this until you come across the small town of Mort'ton and follow through east across a bridge then further northeast. This route is by far the most inefficient and slowest. -Hallowvalle method This route is quick and completely avoids the nasty ghasts in the swamp but is not quite the fastest way to barrows. You must have completed the In Aid of the Myreque quest to have access to this town. Basically from Burgh de Rott go south to the gate and then northeast across the bridge and further northeast to barrows. -Myreque method (Recommended) Starting at Canifis, go to the trapdoor south of the pub (must have completed the In Search of the Myreque quest) and enter into the tunnels below. Follow it through to the big wooden doors and go through into the swamp. Run south of the door to the bridge and walk across is then continue running south to the boat. Take the boat across, cross the bridge east and go north east to barrows. The general strategy of Barrows: No matter how you get there, once you arrive at barrows you will see 6 mounds of earth and underneath these six mounds are the six tombs of the brothers. You must go around, dig above each mound and kill each brother. However you will find that you will come across one tomb which doesn't contain a brother but a tunnel instead. Do not enter the tunnel until you have killed the other 5 brothers (your kill count displayed bottom right of your screen should read 5). Once this has happened return to the tunnel tomb and enter it. This is what your minimap would look like if it wasn't blacked out Once inside you will see a ladder and 4 doors of which only one has the open option, take it. Using the map below you can see your ladder will randomly be in one of the 4 corners. From there make your way around killing monsters if you wish until you get to the one door with the open option that leads into the center. When you open it you will be confronted with one of these four puzzles, solve it by clicking on the correct answer but be careful you will be attacked by monsters while trying to solve it and if you are attacked the puzzle will disappear meaning you must open the door again. (For answers to the puzzle see PUZZLE ANSWERS in the notes section. Once through head to the chest and if your brother has not already appeared at a door, when you open it he will pop out and you must kill him. Once the last brother is dead search the chest and then make your way out by teleing or just walking out. Congratulations you have just completed a barrows 'run'. A breakdown of the six brothers and their armour: MELEE: DHAROK THE WRETCHED (lvl 115) WEAPON: GREATAXE ARMOUR SPECIAL: Your max hit with the greataxe is increased the lower your health becomes. (E.g. at 99 hp you may be able to hit 48 but if you get taken down to only 5hp you could hit a whopping 79). This brother is possibly the most deadly of all 6 due to the fact he can hit up to 59 damage in one hit. However if you keep your eyes peeled and follow this guide you should have absolutely no problem with him. Protect from melee is a must and should be maged unless using veracs (see Veracing section). http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6384 ... frsyq0.gif[/img]Quest cape owner
hitmanme
MELEE: VERAC THE DEFILED (lvl 115) WEAPON: FLAIL ARMOUR SPECIAL: Has a chance of hitting straight through your opponents armour as well as hitting through their prayer This brother is relatively dangerous and although prayer is useful you may come unstuck against Verac because he can hit straight through it with a max hit of 27 if he maxes after hitting through armour and prayer. The best way to deal with him is to mage him (or Verac) and be prepared to eat. MELEE: TORAG THE CORRUPTED (lvl 115) WEAPON: HAMMERS ARMOUR SPECIAL: Has a chance of reducing the opponents run energy during a hit This brother is most probably the weakest of the six as his hits are extremely rare and his effect wont really do any serious damage to your stats or health like the other brothers. The best way to kill him is to mage him and be prepared to eat and if you really feel worried about him you can pray but I personally think it is a complete waste of time. MELEE: GUTHAN THE INFESTED (lvl 115) WEAPON: WARSPEAR ARMOUR SPECIAL: Has a chance of healing yourself on a 1:1 ratio to the damage done to your opponent If you are using a particularly ineffective method of attack on Guthan you may find yourself becoming unstuck because any small amount of damage you do will quickly be healed back and taken away from your health. The best way to deal with him is to kill him quickly and efficiently and for all of you who think you can get around his properties by praying...think again as he will still heal himself with the damage it WOULD have done on you if your werent praying. MAGE: AHRIM THE BLIGHTED (lvl 98) WEAPON: STAFF ARMOUR SPECIAL: Has a chance of lowering the opponents strength level This guy is truely an absolute pain because he can hit up to 20 damage (and will usually hit near that number) and quite often hits through dragonhide as if it wasn't there. However it may not look like it but it helps to have better quality dragonhide such as red or black (recommended). Deal to him with karils crossbow, crystal bow or a mage short with rune arrows. His mage attacks are a fire ball (equivalent to fire blast but does more damage) a spell that lowers att and a spell that lowers def, along with his strength lowering spec. RANGE: KARIL THE TAINTED (lvl 98) WEAPON: CROSSBOW ARMOUR SPECIAL: Has a chance of lowering the opponents agility I have deemed this brother the most dangerous of the six although you may disagree I think my argument is pretty strong. He can and will hit relatively constant high numbers (even more than Ahrim because his are spaced out by skill lowering stats) up to 20. It is highly recommended you pray for this brother and take it from me (I have died 3 times to him) don't let your prayer run out! Best bet is to mage him because he has surprisingly low mage defence. What to take: --Ancients Not recommended at all so I wont even be bothered writing about it at all, however I will if someone requests it. But just for your information this is the most expensive way of doing things. --Fire blasting Recommended Requirements: 59 mage 43 prayer 60 range 60 att 60 str 60 def This method is good if you are a beginner to barrows and dont have 55 slayer. You should take enough for 150-200 fire blasts, good mage gear such as ghost robes or mystic (however the latter is expensive if you die), food, 3 prayer pots (until you determine how many you use), spade, 40 rune arrows, mage short, red dragonhide armour, rune plate and legs, gnome defence ammy, ring of life, ddp++ and/or another dragon weapon. --Veracing Recommended Requirements: 52 prayer 80 att 80 str 80 def Hitmanme's method 60 prayer 70 att 70 str 70 def 60 mage 70 range 50 construction This is absolutely recommended personally by me and due to that fact I will go into slightly more detail and include recommended instructions. You should take: 100 deaths 400 minds 5 house teles Slayer staff Mage short 40 rune arrows Ddp++ Ring of life Quest cape but God cape and obby cape our good D b axe Black d hide top and bottom Spade monkfish 2 prayer pots Ghost boots and gloves Full arhims Prayer book Gnome ammy Holy Wrench Same way as Ilikerandom's 0 drink method. Just a few changes. --ilikerandom's 0 drink method Recommended Requirements: 60 prayer 70 att 70 str 70 def 60 mage 70 range 50 construction This is absolutely recommended personally by me and due to that fact I will go into slightly more detail and include recommended instructions. You should take: 100 deaths 400 minds 5 house teles Slayer staff Mage short 40 rune arrows Ddp++ Ring of life God cape D scim Black d hide top and bottom Spade Monkfish 2 prayer pots Ghost robes hood, boots and gloves Prayer book Rune plate and legs Gnome ammy Holy Wrench For this you NEED to have a house with a chapel which has an altar of some sort as well as a portal room with a canifis (Kharryl) portal. Follow the Myreque route to barrows and once there, kill the brothers in this order; Dharok (pray), Karil (pray), Ahrim (pray if any left over), Guthan, Torag, Verac. Mage all the melee brothers and Karil and range Ahrim. Basically from there in tunnels you only need to pray if you have Karil, otherwise just safespot them (see below) or just kill Ahrim normally. Tips and Notes: -Safe spotting In the tunnels you can safe spot the melee brothers behind three trusted obstacles. One: The starting ladder just mage him through the ladder you came down from. Two: The invisible ladders which are in the 3 other corner rooms {Discovered by ilikerandom} Three: Certain rocks in the side tunnels Just let them attack you and trap them behind the obstacle then begin to mage them. NOTE: Although other monsters can attack you while your safe spotting the brother, you will not retaliate against them but will keep attacking the brother. -Regarding Kill Count (KC) In the tunnels you can kill monsters to raise your kill count. What the kill count really does is determines how many runes, bolt racks (rax for short) and coins you get. It does NOT change the chance of gaining a barrows item at all. Confirmed by Jagex, 10 is the number where you get the most rewards and anything past there is just a waste of time. Keep that in mind and dont follow my mistake of getting 63 kill count cause i thought it would raise my chance of an item -Puzzle Answers There are 4 puzzles possible in the tunnels below are the puzzles in their answers. Keep in mind that the answers may not be in that order because the 3 possible answers are randomly arranged on the panel. Ok guys well thats my first attempt at a guide so its probably rubbish please feel free to comment and give me some criticism and I will add things on request. Rudyaard
I'd use a crystal bow or a karil X-Bow instead of msb
Michael
Karils x bow as you get boltracks, so you don't have to pay for arrows.
Wachtwoord
It's a pretty good guide. But there are already too much (almost) perfect barrows guide here. Just check the AOW forum and you'll see what I mean. When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
meb
meh...typical barrows guide. nothing new really. 3/10 Yep. Nothing new, and Two: The invisible ladders which are in the 3 other corner rooms {Discovered by ilikerandom} People have known this since like forever. --Veracing Recommended Requirements: 52 prayer 80 att 80 str 80 def This is not an effective method with those stats, it stays slow until 90 90 90 stats. And someone with 90 magic will still be faster. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks. Just go in and out a corner room and attack the rats and bloodworms for kc. When brother is there, just run to safespot and start maging. DONE. (Wasn't that hard, was it?) I agree that getting them in tunnels is anoying, and takes way too long, by the way, you use as much food as if you would face them in their crypt (I tried to get all melee brothers in the tunnels, took about the time for 2 runs!). But I don't understand that you use more ppots from dharok in tunnels... He is the one that should always be fought with pray and you can safe some by safespotting him.
