He's the first one to learn this from me; before I wrote this guide! :D 1.0a)Introduction So you want to get your melee stats up? Want to range or mage without worrying about eating? Do you also want to get your Prayer up?! Well then this is the guide for you! Keep reading this wonderful guide to learn about a not-so-well-known spot that's great for training at low-to-mid levels! 2.0a)What are we fighting again? Why, Hill Giants of course! (click the image to view the Bestiary Profile) F2P/P2P drops: * Gold: 8-310 * 100%: Big Bones * Weapon: Iron dagger, Iron longsword, Steel longsword, Rune spear, Rune javelin(5), Dragon spear * Armour: Iron kiteshield, Iron full helm * Runes/Arrows: Death(2,10), Law(2,6), Mind(3), Water(7), Fire(15), Nature(6), Cosmic(2), Chaos(2), Iron(3), Steel(10), Bronze(10) * Misc: Body talisman, Limpwurt root, Beer, Uncut gems, Herbs, Half key, Shield left half(dragon), Nature talisman, Chaos talisman, Champion scroll, Long bone, Curved bone * Seeds: Potato(4), Cabbage(4), Sweetcorn(3), Onion(4), Strawberry(2), Watermelon(2), Tomato(3) 3.0a)Suggested Questing, Levels, and Items Suggested Questing: Tree Gnome Village for access to Spirit Trees. The Grand Tree for access to Gnome Gliders and the Grand Tree teleport. Allows you to go straight to Gnome Village. Suggested Levels: 20 Attack 20 Strength 20 Defense 20 Range 13 Mage 20 Fishing 15 Cooking Other levels: 33 Agility if you're walking from Ardougne and want to take the log balance shortcut. Suggested items: Melee: Mithril armour and weapon, Amulet of Strength/Glory/Accuracy. Range:Leather Ranging gear, Willow Shortbow, 2k+ Iron Arrows, Amulet of Accuracy/Glory. Mage: Blue Wizards Robes, Elemental staff for the spell your casting, Amulet of Magic/Glory. 4.0a)Where are we going? How do we get there? Why.. it's as simple as navigating your way to the Gnome Stronghold. If you have finished the Tree Gnome Village and The Grand Tree quests, then you may use various Spirit Trees and Gnome Gliders located around the world to get here. Spirit Tree from Varrock/Edgeville: Teleport or walk to Varrock and walk north through the northern gates, as if you're going to the wilderness. Don't cross the ditch! :XD: Keep walking west until you see a teleport/transport icon on your screen, which is the Spirit Tree. Take that to the Gnome Village, then to the Stronghold. Alternatively, you can Glory-teleport to Edgeville or walk there, and go across the bridge to the east. Just past the Bandit Camp, and you're at the Spirit Tree. Spirit Tree from Battlefield of Khazard: If you just happen to be in Ardougne or Yanille, you can take this one. The tree is just south of Ardougne, almost immediately south of the Wilderness Lever. Spirit Tree from a Farming Patch: If you've got the farming level to do this, I'm assuming that you know your way around anyways, and that you don't need a guide to get there; you did plant it, didn't you?! :XD: Glider from Al-Kharid: This is probably the easiest glider to get to. Just teleport/home-teleport/die to Lumbridge, and go through the Al-Kharid gate. Keep walking straight and you'll run into the Glider captain. Alternatively, you can Glory-teleport to the castle there, or use a Ring of Dueling to teleport to the Dueling Arena. A little farther away, you can take a Fairy Ring to Zanaris and walk from there. Glider from White Wolf Mountain: The quickest way to get here would be to take Games Necklace teleport to Burthope and walk. This way isn't recommended though, as it's a bit farther of a walk. Glider from Feldip Hills: This would probably be your faster bet if you were using a ring of dueling to get to the training spot. Just teleport to CW and head south. You'll be passing some aggressive ogres, so you might want to bring a piece or two of food. Completion of One Small Favour quest is required to use this glider. Walking: Now if you can't get there by doing any of the above methods, then you can walk. I'll provide directions from Ardougne and hope you know a way to get there. You can use a Dueling Ring from Castle Wars, a Camelot Teleport, or walk from Catherby docks or across the White Wolf Mountain. You can also take a Games Necklace to Barbarian Assault and walk from there. The yellow in Ardougne is for those with 33+ Agility. Now that you've made it to the Gnome Stronghold, you're going to want to make it to our training spot.. right? That's what I thought. Just follow this map from the bank. 5.0a)I'm there.. now what? Well you're not quite at the final destination yet. Get out whichever gear you're going to be using to fight with, be it melee, mage, or range. Here's what we'll have in our inventory. Of course, some of your gear is going to be different; that's just what I happened to have in my bank. For Meleers: Bring whatever armour you can wear. No need to be super-heavily armoured, so don't go blowing all your money on the best money can buy; unless of course you want to. All you need is the armour and weapons to fight. For Rangers: Bring Ranging gear. You'll want a large supply of arrows, so you can stay until your inventory is full or you are done training. Bring the best Dragonhide armour that you can wear (or leather armour for under 40 Ranged) and the best shortbow you can wield. For Mages: You'll want to bring the best mage bonus you can. A staff for the elemental spell you'll be casting, as well as complimentary runes to cast with. Bring Mage Robes or Mystic armour; whichever you can wear or afford. Mystic Robes aren't required, but will help you by increasing the frequency of your hits. Mage here will be the most costly; these Hill Giants don't drop much in the way of expensive items. If you've got money to blow, or just want to get your mage up, then this is for you. 6.0a)The going-abouts of your training Melee: Well.. there's not much to say about melee. Just pick your target and whack away. Range and Mage: Here's where all the trees come in handy. They'll act as nature's-own safespot. Just shoot once, run, and fire away while your target stands there like a lumbering oaf. :D I've taken some pictures of various safespots that you can use. These aren't all of them, but they should serve their purpose. Maybe you can find your own! Mages and Rangers both use the same spots, so I've only taken one picture for each; don't let the Range gear fool you! The spots are for mages too. :D And if one of those lumbering oafs starts to do the moonwalk, that means you're out of his "attack zone". Either pick a safespot closer to him that's within this "zone", or attack a closer Giant. [hide=Ranging/Maging Safespots] [/hide] 7.0a)Ok, ok.. now what if I need to eat? Ah that's what is so great about this spot. I could have recommended you to the Taverly Dungeon, where there are Hill Giants aplenty. But the safespots there aren't very great and it can get crowded at peak hours. And that's also why I told you to bring a fly fishing rod and an adequate amount of feathers. About 1k feathers should suit you for quite some time over here. No fire? Oh right.. we have an axe! And a tinderbox! You.. did remember those right? Well, just chop a tree, any tree. They're quite in abundance here, so chop away. Then fish, burn the log, and cook! Food! 8.0a)Conclusion There we have it. A complete mini-guide to training your combat stat of choice. I can personally recommend this method of training all the way up to 60 Attack, Strength, and Defense, as is what I did essentially. I actually wasn't aware of this training spot until I came by it once for Hunting, and didn't think of using it again until after I had trained my combat stats. But now you get the luxury of training here, alone and in peace. Thanks for reading my guide! I hope you liked it. :D B)Mid-High Level Training: Moss Giants 1.0b)Introduction So now you've gotten to a stage where Hill Giants just might be a little too slow for your tastes. You're ready to move onto something bigger, better, and with better drops; right? Yes! Ok, so that's where part two of this guide comes in. This training section is all the goodies of the Hill Giants, with more Hitpoints and better drops! Read on! 2.0b)NOW what are we fighting? Moss Giants of couse! (click the image for the Bestiary Profile) F2P/P2P drops: * Gold: 2-700 * 100%: Big bones * Weapon: Magic staff, Mithril sword, Rune javelin (5), Adamant dart(5p), Mithril spear, Rune spear, Dragon spear, Magic staff * Armour: Black sq shield, Mithril sq shield, Steel med helm, Steel kiteshield * Runes/Arrows: Air (18-28), Earth(27), Chaos(7), Nature(5,6), Law(3-6), Cosmic(3), Death(3), Iron(15), Steel(30), Blood(1) * Misc: Steel bar, Spinach roll, Coal, Uncut gems, Herb, Half key, Nature talisman, Chaos talisman, Shield left half(dragon), Long bone, Curved bone, Uncut gem * Seeds: Herb(1), Poison ivy(1), Mushroom spore(1), Wildblood(1), Strawberry(1), Jangerberry(1), Limpwurt(1), Whiteberry(1), Cactus(1), Watermelon(1,2), Belladonna(1) 3.0b)Suggested Quests, Levels, and items Suggested Questing: Dragon Slayer: Access to wearing Rune Plates and Dragonhide bodies. The Lost City: Access to Dragon Longswords and Dragon Daggers. Suggested Levels: 40 Attack 40 Strength 40 Defense 40 Range 17 Mage 10 Agility (required) 5 Thieving Suggested Items: Melee: Adamant or Rune armour, Rune or Dragon Weapon, Amulet of Strength/Glory/Accuracy. Also a Rune Halberd if you want food-free melee training. Range: Green Dragonhide Armour, Yew Shortbow, 2k+ Iron arrows, Amulet of Accuracy/Glory. Mage:Mystic Robes, Elemental Staff for the spell you're casting, Amulet of Mage/Glory. 4.0b)How are you gonna get me lost this time, Mr. Guide-Writer? Well.. this one is pretty straight forward. If you can make it to Ardougne like you did in the last section, then you can make it here. You can also take a home-tele to Lumbridge and go to Port Sarim, or a Falador teleport and walk south to the boats. Once you're on the boat, follow the green path. The yellow path between the mainland and the island is just where you jump the rope. 5.0b)Ah.. scenic. Now what? So now what are we wearing? Pretty much the same thing as last time, just one difference: Meleers, you're going to want good defense now. Moss Giants can hit you relatively hard for their level, and they even hit through rune on 60+ defense occasionally. If you're using a Dragon weapon, I recommend bringing a Longsword: Alternatively, if you want food-free training for melee, you'll want to bring a halberd. Halberds can be purchased from other players, or you can do the Regicide quest to purchase them: Rangers will want to bring their best Ranging gear. Hopefully you've completed Dragon Slayer; if not, just wear a leathertop. Mages, this time you'll want to bring the Mystic Armour. It'll help reduce casts per Giant, thus increasing your stay here. Bring a staff and the runes for whatever spell you'll be casting. 6.0b)The going-abouts of your training. Now that you're there and geared up, let's fight! Here's what meleers should have in their inventory. If you can't make or get the strength and attack potions, then you can leave those out. Also, if you can make or buy combat potions, that would be even better; they're an attack and a strength potion in one! The cash is for getting there on a boat ride. The pots are for hitting harder and more often, and the food is just safety in case cakes won't heal you enough at once. Meleers without a Halberd: Just pick your target and whack away. Not much of a strategy to go by here. Meleers with a Halberd: You'll be using all the same spots as a Ranger or Mage would use. Just give your Giant a whack, and get in a safespot. Just remember that you have to stay within a two-square distance; that is, there'll be only one square between you and the giant. Here are some hiding spots: [hide=Click to reveal Hiding Spots] [/hide] Now that's not all of them, just some handy ones you can use. I expect that you'll be able to find some for yourself and use those as well. Rangers and Mages: Pretty much the same strategy as a Halberdier, yet you have a few more options, even one where you can juggle three giants at once if you feel like it. Of course, that's not necessary, but it's just for those who might get bored easily; a bit of fun on the side. :D 7.0b)Where's the fishing spot here, dumby? Hey.. don't call me a dumby :(. But, to your surprise, there isn't one! But, you can still stay down here as long as you pick up these two items. That'll let you stay here for quite some time. I suggest getting and stocking up on at least 4 pieces of the cake at once, which effectively heals 16 hitpoints. 8.0b)Conclusion Ok, so now that you've graduated to the Moss Giants from the Hill Giants, you've got yourself some good training. You can stay here until 70/70/70 stats if you'd like! You'll get yourself plenty of seeds for farming, and many seeds which can make you some decent money. You can also get your mage and range up here all you'd like; in fact, I might go back there to get from 70-80! C)High Level Training: Jogres 1.0a)Introduction So you're now past the Hill Giants? Getting tired of Moss Giants? Think they're too slow? Well, here's your guide! This is part C of my ongoing hidden training spots guide. C'mon in and take a peek! 2.0c)A jogre.. what? Why, it's a Jungle Ogre, of course! (click the image to view the Bestiary Profile) P2P Only drops: * Gold: * 100%: Jogre bones * Weapon: Bronze spear, Iron spear, Steel javelin(5). Rune javelin(5) * Armour: - * Runes/Arrows: Nature(2,5,10) * Misc: Trading sticks(22-44), Jogres bones, Big bones(1-3), Bones(1,2), Herbs, Jungle herbs, Pineapple(2), Banana, Knife, Uncut gems, Half key, Clue scroll(lvl 2), Chaos talisman, Nature talisman, Champion scroll. * Seeds:Strawberry seed(1), Herb seed(1), Belladonna(1), Mushroom spore(1), Watermelon(1), Jangerberry(1), Poison ivy(1), Limpwurt(1), Whiteberry(1), Wildblood(1), Cactus(1) 3.0c)Suggested Questing, Levels, and Items Suggested Questing: Tree Gnome Village for access to Spirit Trees. The Grand Tree for access to Gnome Gliders and the Grand Tree teleport. Allows you to go straight to Gnome Village. The Lost City for a Dragon Longsword and DDP. Dragon Slayer for a Rune Plate/Dragonhide bodies. Fremennik Trials for a Warrior/Berserker helm. Shilo Village for quick banking and alternative transport. Suggested Levels: 65 Attack 65 Strength 40 Defense 60 Range 60 Mage Suggested items: Melee: Rune Armour and a Dragon weapon, Amulet of Strength/Glory/Accuracy. Rune Defender if you can get one, else a Rune Kite (maybe better if you're defense is low). Range: Red Dragonhide armour, MSB + 2k Iron arrows, Amulet of Glory/Accuracy. Mage: Full Mystic, Elemental staff for the spell your casting, Amulet of Magic/Glory. All classes: Bring a knife! You'll need this. I didn't get a picture of the inventory somehow, so this'll do for now. DON'T FORGET THE KNIFE! 4.0c)How about we get there? Why.. it's as simple as navigating your way to the Gnome Stronghold. If you have finished the Tree Gnome Village and The Grand Tree quests, then you may use various Spirit Trees and Gnome Gliders located around the world to get here. I'll assume that you know how to get to the Gnome Stronghold. If not, refer back to the Hill Giants training guide for ways on getting there. Take the glider to Karamja and head southwest. An alternate method you could use is accessible after completion of the Shilo Village Quest, which is recommended for this guide anyways. Take a boat from Ardougne to Brimhaven, then the cart from there to Shilo. 5.0c)So.. much.. green! Now what? The outfit will be the same as last times. Use whatever outfit is the best for your combat style, and the best in that style that you can afford. You'll want to have good armour, as even with 70 Defense, Jogres can hit relatively hard. That's only if your not halberding them; if you are, then just bring whatever armour you have. For Meleers: These guys can hit kind of hard at times. You'll want to bring good defensive armour. Full Rune should suffice, but you can bring other things, such as a Granite Plate or Fremennik Helm. For Halberdiers: You don't need quite as much defense as a face-to-face meleer needs, but you'll still need some. You could probably get away with not wearing armour, but that might be pushing it. I'd suggest at least bringing mithril or adamant armour. For Rangers: You're going to want to bring the best Range Attack bonus that you own. Go for Red D'hides, or black if you can. An Archer helm will help, as it provides a cheap Range bonus. You can also bring snakeskin or Frog Leather boots. A robin set isn't necessary, but if you have one, by all means use it. You might also want to upgrade to steel arrows, as they'll net you more experience per hour. For Mages: You don't have much choice as far as melee defense goes. You'll probably be wearing Mystic armour, but if you happen to have Splitbark armour, use that. Just bring a Bolt spell, as that should suffice, and the runes to cast it. 6.0c)The going-abouts of your training For Meleers without a halberd, your options are.. pretty straightforward. You'll just be whacking away at the Jogres face-to-face, so not much strategy is needed. But, if you want them to become un-aggressive, then you'll want to fight the two northern Jogres. Fighting the two southern Jogres causes them to stay aggressive, because you're constantly going in and out of their attack zones. If none of that made sense, don't fret. It's not that important. For Halberdiers, Mages, and Rangers: Well, all of your spots are the same. Rangers and Mages have a little more freedom, but it's all one in the same. Here are some various spots Theo and I have picked for safespotting. [hide=Click to reveal safespots] [/hide] 7.0c)And how are we staying alive this time? Well.. no, there's no fishing spots, and no, there's no cake respawns. BUT! Jogres drop your food. And that is why it's important to bring a knife! You'll be slicing the pineapples for maximum healing power. Each one gives you 4 slices, which heal 2 HP each. That's 8 health healed per pineapple, and they always drop two. So 16 health per drop! Think of it as Jogres dropping a monkfish for you. Now, you may think that's enough to get you by; it should be. If you're using a safespot, you can get away with bringing no food and using their pineapple drops for healing when you need it. However, face-to-face meleers will need a tad more. Bring a few back-up foods; I brought monks. They don't always drop pineapples often enough to rely on them for healing, but that's just for face-to-face meleers, mind you. Everyone else is fine. 8.0c)Conclusion of Part C Well.. hopefully you've read and enjoyed my guide thus far. Jogres can be a good way of training at higher levels, and not many people know about them. Thanks for taking the time to check this out and I hope you enjoyed it! 9.0ab)Credits and Notes Jagex: Thanks for the game, without it, there'd be no guide! Maxx91
I've been using the moss giants to train my range from 40-55 (and still going). Nice guide, tho i was already using it :P I'm at the spot from where you can range 4 different giants (the 4th one is a bit harder to get than the others) and it's some nice xp :) So far i've gotten 3 ranarr seeds, 1 snapdragon, 1 dwarf weed and a lot of other's. The drops won't make me rich, but they keep me motivated and pay back for my arrows :D The Moss spot is more known than the hill giants, i never knew about those 1 Thing you could include is that giants have a low defence, so are good for using iron knives. (or am i wrong here?) 8/10 EDIT: Just got another ranarr seed
Zaaps1
Ah yes, I trained on those moss giants at that place for quite some time. Here are a few tips I picked up on the way (Sorry if you've mention some or all of this already): If you completed Shilo Village quest, take the cart to Shilo and Bank. If not, the ferry is cheaper (by 170gp) but it a tab farther from the bank. Food can be bought at the restaurant in Brimhaven. They sell Cooked Lobbys, Swordies, and Karajambwan (sp?) in addition to lower level fish. Drops should cover all costs. High level farmers can also attend to the farming patch nearby. If Holy Grail is finished and Fariy Rings are unlocked, use the magic whistle to the Fisher King Realm nearby, then take the fairy ring to Zanaris, then enter a combination of your choice and stock up on any needed supplies. (TzHarr for runes, McGroubor's wood is close to the Range Guild. I forget if there is an arrow/bolt shop there or not.) You can also mine a few gold ore to fill up your inventory if it suits you. Great guide, 8.5/10. ~It's Super Effective! SirHartlar
i know I've already posted but I thought I'd add some more comments to help make it an even better guide. *You spelt "abundance" wrong in the lower-levelled section whilst explaining about the trees. *The spots you have mentioned are P2P only, maybe merge the F2P and P2pP drops together; it seems pointless to seperate them as F2P can't use this guide anyway.
