Celestial surgebox

Featured Replies

Since the Magical blastbox gave a 25% damage boost 10-20% of the time, which turned out to be a 2.5-5% overall damage increase (Magical blastbox topic), I figured the surgebox would also have a similar effect.

So, does anyone have the surgebox, and if so, what are the stats?

Also, can you test the box?

If the box has a damage boost, and high enough stats, where would it be useful? Rex, Ice strykewyrms, Frost dragons, etc, etc?

Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?

It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities.

the blast box has a hidden effect, every 5th spell cast on an NPC does extra damage. I've yet to use the surgebox

From runewiki, the special should work on every 5th hit on every different monster, so, because p2p max hits are so high, it will be very rare to activate for most monsters, but as none of the other shield slots add damage, it could be useful assuming you don't need the extra mage attack bonus.

Does it work on other players?

This is a quote from the runewiki page on the blastbox:

The critical-hit ability occurs at a rate of once every five casts on a monster or NPC, so it will deal 25% more damage on the fifth cast, tenth, and so on. However, when switching targets, the hit count will restart at zero, making this more useful against higher-leveled monsters

So it activates on the fifth CAST, not HIT. So if you hit a 0 on the fifth cast, you don't get extra damage, at all.

I'm going to assume that the CSB has the exact same effect, which is more useful, seeing as you can hit twice as much with surge spells as you can with blast spells.

This means it would in fact be useful for killing Frost dragons, your Ice strykewyrms tasks, possibly Abbysal demon camping, Iron and Steel dragons, bursting? That is, if it's worth the 65k tokens?

Well, if you want to be pedantic, yes, you are right, although i don't think many people got confused because of that. And while we are on the subject of pedantics, hitting a 0 with magic is infact a hit, as missing with magic means splashing, thus you will get 25% bonus when you hit a 0.

As for being useful for frost dragons- it's rare to be able to hit one dragons for times thus there is almost no extra damage at all, and coupled with a -8/-13 attack bonus(which is crucial), not very useful. The same goes, in a smaller way, for abyssals and strykes, where the average hits to kill is somewhere very close to 5.

5 casts is what, 2.5k damage on an ice wyrm? They got 3100 lp, meaning it would activate once per kill on average.

In other-words, it's practically useless, aside from saving 3 inventory spaces?

You can get this item as a drop while in Daemonhiem

You can get this item as a drop while in Daemonhiem

I saw a thread on the RSOF about this, someone bound it, and it counts as ammo. I wonder if this means you can bind 125 fire/air/death/blood runes all at once? Which still wouldn't be that useful, anyways...

Well it would let you easily take out annoying Prom/Primal Warriors but yeah, I think I'd rather bind laws or arrows.

That might be worth it for one member of a perm team assuming they rush the c1 floors together.

Actually, if you could hold 125 spells, not just runes, I think I'd probably pick that over 125 laws.

Sumondskull6.png

i have it, its just like outside daemonheim, just hold missile and air runes

i have it, its just like outside daemonheim, just hold missile and air runes

If you bind it, do you keep the runes in it? And more importantly, the runes you keep, are they 125 casts (so for fire surge, 1250 fires), or just 125 of each rune?

the charges count in casts, and they're saved on bind

EDIT:you cant take the runes out though

Really wish I had that thing when I had a celestial staff. Good to see Jagex making every style potent right from the get-go (assuming you have the right ammo bound, I mean).

Sooo...I can bind 125 Fire Surge CASTS now?

ya, you can have casts now, the thing is i don´t know how it is in members, i have 125 air blast casts, and a fire staff bound, so 125 fire blast

That's neat. I want one. 125 air surges + fire staff ftw.
