Ha, I wouldn't quite call myself an intellectual, not yet anyway. I do know Nietzsche and Camus fairly well though - What's the problem?

Brain waves are incredibly weak. You need to wire someone up just to measure them. That aside, I'm interested as to how the money gets to you. When you say you're giving off the frequency of money - What frequency are you giving off? Australian coins or bills? Can you give off the frequency of money and get a digital transaction? Also, it's not like the bills are just flying at your head here, which is how energy would behave, presumably people are giving them to you. Is the money influencing the people, or are you?

Whether you're kidding or not, I should explain myself. While I think it's stupid that someone thinks they can influence water particles and bring money to them by thinking, if they want to believe it then that's fine. However, when we start talking about the observer effect and the uncertainty principle then we can call in the boffins who really know about this stuff. Pseudoscience is something I have a problem with.

What The Bleep Do We Know is widely considered to be pseudoscientific trash by the academic community. While the film is interesting (I like the way they presented the double slit experiment), it's just another attempt to blur the lines between quantum mechanics and spirituality.
  5. I was just checking Kim Jong-il's wiki page to see if there was any information on what North Koreans actually think of him (which was admittedly a long shot at best, given the media blockade) when I came across this: Made me smile.
  6. thanks for covering me there to lobsta Its grossly incorrect to assume you can narrow down the fundamentals of god to a few examples of a few religions. The religion I adopted is similair to the philosophy Albert Einstein(quotes on page sorry I cant give a narrower link) in that the universe its self and the pursuit of its truths is god. Unless you wish to argue the universe, science, math, and philosophy dont exist then you must concede my "god" does. I don't understand why people take something like the fundamental laws of the universe and then call it god. In what sense are the universe, science, math and philosophy god?
  7. I don't like Hunter S. Thompson, but I have to agree with him here. Drugs and alcohol are not at all good for you, but they are not boring either. Regular life is unbelievably boring. Literature, art, science, beauty and truth are all fantastic things about being alive, but the fact that most people have to face a 9-5 trudge just to be able to indulge in these things is totally horrifying to me.
  8. You live in Bahrain for long ? Only until around my first birthday, as I said above. I'd quite like to go back. My dad speaks very fondly of it.

My older brother is in the Royal Navy, and every time I see him he spends all his time complaining that he's not on a ship. I'm sure you'll have a blast.
  10. I think we moved back to Scotland on my first birthday, so I don't really remember anything about Bahrain. Maybe my comment about Scotland was a bit harsh, but I just find it to be boring and uninspiring.
  11. ^^What he said (Fife to be more specific for me) Born in Bahrain, raised in Scotland for me. I did live in Glasgow but now I've moved back in with my mum who lives in Livingston. Lately my view that Scotland is the arsehole of the planet has been strengthening.

I'm with you. I swing between joyous wonder towards the beauty of life and the universe, and desperate hatred towards the constructs of society. Life is undoubtedly a wondrous thing, but actually living in the world of today is crushing. Your options are limited, your choices are restricted and most people will never realise their dreams. "Is this all there is?" is a something I ask myself on an almost daily basis.
  13. Dusqi's blog is the only one I read, though not very often. I'm not big into blogs, but I like Dusqi and it's nice to see how he's getting on.
  14. War and Peace has the reputation it does for a reason. It can be a struggle at times, but it is a fantastic book, and if you're interested in Tolstoy then War and Peace is great because it communicates his philosophy very nicely.

I've been rolling my own lately to try and save some money, because I was smoking 20+ every day and it was hell on my wallet. Rolling your own is much cheaper, and it seems like you get to smoke more too, but it's just not the same.
  16. That's Nelly the Elephant. She packed her trunk and said goodbye to the circus.

I'm in my 20's. I smoke, and I love every second of it.

This is an open and shut case, in Britain at least. About 80% of the cost of every packet of cigarettes I buy goes to the tax man. The 2004 figures I'm looking at show a government revenue of £9.3 billion versus a £1.5 billion cost to the NHS for smoking related illnesses. How much does a pack cost? Here in NC, US they're usually <$3. My chosen brand costs almost £6 now (~$8.40). It's getting ridiculous.

  20. Paradise Lost is difficult to read. I've got a fully annotated version, and even then I need to sit with a bible next to me to understand each page properly.
  21. Apparently it's absolutely dreadful. I've been meaning to read it, just to get some kind of insight, but there's better words for me to be filling my head with.
  22. I am not responsible for the crap in Africa. But you can still help. What's your argument here anyway? Why did you bring up Africa?
  23. I have to say that I'm almost positive that I would enjoy watching a cockfight, or at least be interested. That said, deriving pleasure from suffering is sadistic at best. The difference between cockfighting and boxing is that boxers have a choice.

I'd like to think I'd volunteer to fight in a war, but it would be down my morals being challenged, not the politics of any country. If there is ever another war against fascism then I think I would have to fight.
  25. I can only find abstracts rather than full papers on this, but I believe that extremely powerful magnetic fields can give you leukemia, and maybe other forms of cancer.
