  1. That's new, someone complaining about updates. Sorry mate but, I really don't see where you're coming from. The economy is strong still as it is, and JAGeX has proven that they can keep it that way and are not dumb enough to let it be ruined. The guys at JAGeX are, most obviously, very smart when it comes to their game. I think the updates are a good thing. One month to complete all quests like that is pretty darn fast in my opinion. You could have easily have trained all those skills to 40 in the same time anyway (I can easily train a skil to 40 in less than a day and many skils, like woodcutting can levle multiple skills at a time). I don't think there is a problem there. And I don't think people are going to be "so overwhelmed with quests that they won't do them" they'll just take them slower possibly. Also, since when have peolpe not made it a goal to finsih all of them, it's been that way for years and years mate, for as long as I can remember (and I started in the same month it was released). Not to mention, it's not a bad thing to have that goal.
  2. 1) As far as the helmets go, game balance. 2) Running, eating, and filling a jug with water are very mundane normal things. While at first you might not think so, try making a fire in just a minute in real life. A tinder box is not near as easy to light a fire with as you might think. It's not like it's a box of matches. Think of making a fire manually in real life, at first it's extremely hard but as you practice it gets easier and easier. It really is a true skill.
  3. 1) Why would an autoer chop trees in the wilderness? There are already PLENTY of other trees. 2) All other trees in the wilderness are dead, it's like that for a reason.
  4. I think people need to stop begging for more on f2p side.
  5. There were annoying brats playing before miniclip, there still will be after, don't blame them, they're a very good site. Sign me up however.
  6. I'd love to have a chatting box. I think everyone has atleast one story of a trade that didn't go through because they couldn't talk in a crowded world where all the idiots spam.
  7. Merchanting is the best, just like it's always been. Then PKing, and you don't have to be pure to be effective. I know plenty of impures who did just fine PKing, including myself. Had a friend who was impure but had like 80 magic and he'd solo PK and get atleast one set of full rune every time.
  8. You don't know that much about firemaking do you? You can burn better logs at higher firemaking levels (Yes I know, that doesn't really serve a real purpose but it shows that the limit is higher). You can also make lanterns with it for the p2p dungeon. I've always found it a fun skill, not sure why but it just is.
  9. Very very nice idea. Hopefully JAGeX will implement this. I must say I'm very impressed.
  10. Pints? Avatar? You, sir, are a moron. lol couldn't agree more Hehe, that was great man.
  11. I think it's just so slow you're not noticing. However with how much that would slow down your training it basically cancels out the EXP attained I'd imagine. If not then it's something JAGeX should look into.
  12. Yeah, I was just thinking "Well, it takes longer than forty five seconds for an item to appear does it not?" I think this is a great idea. For those who complain about having to wait so long, think about it, it's not THAT bad and it helps stop alot of cheaters.
  13. We already have prayer potions, that's all we need.
  14. ApplepieMan you seem to be totally ignorant of the fact that it is a large inconveniance for a REASON. F2P has many large inconveniances, and they ahve them for a REASON. If you can't figure out the reaosn then there is no point in anyone trying to talk to you any further about this.
  15. I'm just going to make a couple points quickly here. 1) You have to make the comparison of the other games compared to runescape, and the prices of them compared to each other. Runescape quite frankly in most aspects is not near as good of a game. It defenintly has a certain charm which many of us love, however this is probably because of how long we've played it. However to anyone new (and to those who can't afford it of course) they could simply go play another, better, game for around the same price (WoW, EQ2, FF11). 2) There are still plenty of intelligent people (such as myself) who can't afford that. There are also many unintelligent kids who are spoiled by their parents and their parents will simply buy it for them no matter what. I'd really only see that making the situation worse, but who knows, maybe it would help. Okay, fair enough, I didn't really bother to check. I suppose finding a MUD isn't too hard, but how many people even know about them? Perhaps I may not be right on this, but if i mentioned MUD to everyone I met, I'd be lucky to find 1 person who might have a clue as to what I'm saying. However, if I go around asking about MMORPGs, though there are still few people, it certainly beats out 1. I just see it as with the boom of the MMORPG, the accessibility increased, the transparency increased. It is more well known. There was once a time on the internet where the only conversation was intelligent conversation, there was no spam, no viruses. The internet used to be an easy way for top scientists to transfer informatoin to each other. Even when the world wide web went mainstream, viruses and spam still lagged a bit behind. How many people play MUDs? How long have these people been playing MUDs for? I would bet that there are less people playing MUDs than runescape and most of them have been playing for years. Solutions? Unfortunately, I can think of little to none. Raising membership fees would work, but we have to keep in mind, graphically, customer support, gameplay: this all pales in comparison to most other MMORPGs. Although I'd be against it, no longer offering free version would in fact solve a lot of problems. But I am a free player myself. It would be possible to hire more people for customer support who will spend their entire time finding rule breakers. But silly immature people will always be here, whether we like it or not. I understand what you are saying about people's recognition of the two, however most people do not know text based games as MUDs. MUD stands for multi-user dungeon/domain/dimension. If you were to ask the peolpe you know if they know what a text based game is I'm sure there are a fair amount who would. If you asked most people on the street if they know what an MMORPG is they'd probably say know. Ask them what an online role playing game is, and more would probably know. It's alot about the wording. As far as the amount playing. MUD's are sort of an underground world now adays. They are drowned out by all the banter about graphical games. There are many very good MUDs with THOUSANDS of players online. I would be suprised if overall there are not more people playing MUDs than playing runescape. I might be wrong, but I would willing to stake money on it. Heh, I'm afraid if you think that way (also, you're typing is a dead give away as to this) then this thread is not for you. This thread is meant to be about longer more in-depth discussion about many aspects of runescape I do believe. --- Also, Adamfostas made the point that it seems those who are really into skills such as, crafting, smithing, and farming (I'd also add herblore anything over what's needed for quests and I'm sure there's otehrs that I can't think of at the moment.) tend to be more intelligent. From what little I can remember, that was defenintly true.
  16. If it's going to be part of magic then just wait for JAGeX to put in summoning as is planned. I think I'd rather have a larger variety of summons than having all imps anyway.
  17. I think the idea is that with more people joining, that means more hunting areas are needed and everytime a new server is added you have another copy of current hunting areas for people's use.
  18. Then we'll need a bigger pot too for flour. Oh, and a bigger jug, a bigger pestal and mortar. It's not /that/ hard right now. I don't think this update is needed at all personally.
  19. If I remember right, about three years back a guy did an experiment like this. Except he did it from the beggining of his character. He actually joined runescape as a social project (or however you would word it) to see how women are treated compared to men in the MMORPG realm. He found many people were far nicer to him and of course many were also very mean. He made many online friends through the course of it. At the end of it he was fairly high level and pretty prominent in the community (can't remember name :( ). When he came out with a post for everyone to explain taht he was a guy and his reason for playing a girl (he also changed his character to a guy) some of his friends were hurt by him, turned on him. In my opinion, that is not a very good friend, but I'm in no position to judge. However, what I'm getting at is this. It's about equal. I have plenty of friends who have played as girls on runescape, they said there are many advantages (monetary mostly) to being a girl. Many had cases of people jsut coming up to them and giving them items (including full rune back when it was actually worth something). However the annoyance of immature little boys is of course there. My girlfriend started playing Final Fantasy 11 on her summer break. She's had alot of girls harass her (usually sexually). However, there is one case that is pretty interesting. She met this one guy and became friends with him. He basically followed her around everywhere healing her. Didn't take her too long to figure out he had a bit of a crush on her (he didn't know she has a boyfriend). He tryed to make a move on her once or twice and she struck him down every time. She did however come to be good friends with him over a short period of time. However recently he has totally ignored her. She believes he's pretty much abandoned her. I think this was probably in large part due to the fact that he probably wanted some online girlfriend and when he finally figured out that she wouldn't be his, he turned his back on her. This hurt my girl, she has a problem with attachment. She gets attached to people pretty easily so to have a good friend betray her really hurt. I hate that about immature guys that they tend to only think about themselves and don't think about other's feelings (remember, I said IMMATURE guys). I'm interested in your experiment though. It'll be interesting to see how it goes. However, if I might make a few suggestions which I think would help it out immensly. 1) Spelling and grammar. I'm not going to go all nazi on you over it, however, trying to spell your owrds out correctly and using correct grammar really makes it much more enjoyable to read. 2) Edit the first post to add in the daily updates instead of making a new post on the thread. It's much easier that way and anyone can easily just check the first post for a new update.
  20. I find that with nearly every suggestion, someone always pops up and says this. We're dealing with a virtual game economy that in a sense is a free-market economy. However, with the artificial bench marks provided by high-alching, and the fact that because of high-alching, money can be "created" out of basically nothing, we're dealing with an economy that simply can't be ruined. Sure, prices on rares and commodities will fluctuate, but that's the nature of the game. Back to point. By adding a new commodity, such as "power ess" as this thread suggests, will certainly affect the value of normal essence. However, with the limitations (mining level, etc) that are proposed, I don't believe that the value of normal ess would be affected that much. If anything, its value wil go down and the market price of power ess will go up. Does this constitute ruination of economy? I highly doubt it. It might ruin your economy if you'd spent that last 6 months doing nothing but mining ess and you have a couple million of them in the bank that you intend to sell. If you want to ruin the economy, the way to do it is to eliminate the alchemy spells and make it so stores won't buy stuff that we all know will never resell (why in the world would a general store buy 18,000 unstrung willows, anyway?). - Sligo I find that almost every suggestion will ruin the economy. By the way, just because it is a virtual economy does not mean it can't be ruined. In real life new bank notes (dollars are not worth a thing, they are notes of debt to a bank) can be printed and have been in the past. Are you saying in real life the economy can not be ruined?
  21. One bucket of water = one lump of clay. One bucket of water does not = 27 lumps of clay. Make sense? Seriously guys, stop being so lazy. Oh my lord, you have to make a few more key strokes, now we're all going to die.
  22. You have a hatchet and tinderbox for a reason. You want a permanent fire because you are too lazy to bring one. People who sell fire are not stupid, or noobs, or anything like that. What they are, are people who have found a way to make money (even if it is only a little) and are using it. It benefits you does it not? So why are you complaining.
  23. I've thought something like this should be done for a while, but to fix the economy and how unfair it is for many players. So many players have achieved an unfair advantage through party hats, which were never meant to be expensive at all. I know plenty of people would be whining "I spent 100 million gold on a party hat and now it's worthless?!" Quite frankly, I would tell them tough luck, you were buying a useless item to begin with. I wouldn't mind party hats being frozen where they are, being reduced to one per person and be like how bunny ears and scythes are (if you die while having one you can rebuy it at a certain shop).
  24. All I did was type in a search on google, I think it was something along the lines of "Free text based MUD" and I found a site with a list of the top 100 and Achaea was at the top.
  25. A question now arises though, what do we do to have this changed? By the way gallito, add me in game if you would. You seem to have a pretty clear view on many things and one I agree very much with. My in game name is Hilramorre.
