  1. Anti-Aliasing is set off be defult because it has even more impact on preformance than the water. What version of Java do you have? There is something in Jagex's faq about this but chances are if you don't have Java 1.6, getting it will solve your problem. Also IE explore 5.5 NEEDS Java 1.6 to work (its the latest version) though you may have to get firefox since I dont know if IE 5.5 can even use the latest Java. Other than that if you turned anti-aliasing on, turn it off. You can also set all your other graphics options to minimum (in HD mode) and try again using whatever resolution you normally do. And anti-aliasing is a proccess that removes or minimizes any jagged edges. Basicly it keeps things smooth when you go into full screen which would be most needed on large monitors and/or low resolution, but many cards can't do it (only fairly new ones), or can't do it fast enough to play RS without lagging.
  2. I think as long as you have the latest Java you can probably dual screen. If you have a laptop that can handel the full screen around the house, have it dual screen by plugging your computer monitor into it and see how it does. Of course it needs to be a deccent laptop or it wont be an accurate test but thats teh best preview you can get without setting up a PC for dual screening.
  3. Thats ok. They did there best to make chinchompas worthless too. I think there is somesort of vendeta against the hunters and of all the classes, I think that rangers get the short end of the stick a little often it seems. I dont really know since I hate range anyways, but since my lively hood is being drasticly affected here, I think I should side with the rangers on this. I never liked salamanders anyways though. It is quite possible though that many things were changed on accident with HD, and any removal or change would have to extend to lower details or else you could be attacked by invisible monsters and walk into invisible obsticles.
  4. I use the windows key to exit fulscreen. The only problem is that you have to log out to go back to full screen. It was designed for you to log out then click the exit full screen I think. If you have no windows key, then ctrl-alt-del works too, and I am sure the mac equivilent can do the same. This is the reason they added an intigrated world map. People in full screen can't go to another window, so it has to be part of the game. Should also help all those people who couldn't open the map. For most computers I have played RS on, you had to log out, load the map (and let it render) then log back in or otherwise it would just stop at the rendering stage where you actualy get to see the map.
  5. Why would you wan't to keep changing partners? Aside from any moral issues it a legal nightmare. You get to spend lots of time and money fighting about who gets what (including any kids) when you divorce (which is not avoidable in Canada since you are automaticly common law [marrige] after living together for a year or two). If your talking about many at once, you can go find one of those morman villages in the souther states and have all kinds of wives and of couse, incest. The rest of the civilasied world frowns upon multiple wives, and I'm sure theres a reason though it may be objectifying women. But divorce is fairly common these days so it really dosen't seem to be a big deal anymore anyways.
  6. The red chins hopefully wont go down to much, there already bad enough compared to pre exchange prices. The grey which were actualy better money makers because of the high exchange price probably wont survive this though. Ah well, all good things must come to an end, some before there time.
  7. I am so glad I have a computer that does not seem affected (much) by the mass lag. I was able to play pretty normally on worlds 1 and 2 back in the hayday of pre exchange merchanting (if I left the major citys there were almost no pauses). As robinhoodie said, the f2p won't get full screen because of the ads, but they will surly get HD because it is a huge marketing tool. I love the new jig (ie riverdance) and the new dance kicks the old dances arse. Dont know if they look any different on the old details but its definatly improved in beta HD.
  8. Another point is that Jagex is not lying, I did test it out and the low details are MUCH WORSE for lag.the only place the HD mode fails is the long loading period when you switch areas, which is about 3x longer at least. Other than that I went from no lag HD to a lag fest on safe mode. It will smooth over, eventualy. This is ALWAYS a problem for large updates because it strains the servers well past normal operation. If they had gone to full blown HD for everyone, no one would be able to play the game for the next month while over 1,000,000 people download the new settings.

Jagex should have put the definition of beta test in big red letters that automaticly center in your screen for 20 seconds so they can explain that its BETA. OF COURSE THERE BUGS! THATS WHY ITS BETA! Actualy I havent seen many complaints. My only issue is the sheer ammount of connection it seems to use. I definatly could play low detail and run a 200 kb/s download before, and definatly cant do it in HD. But since that sort of situation comes up practicly never, and never for long, I really dont care. My avatar scared me, and still creeps me out, but I shall get used to it...eventualy.
  10. Randox replied to Miner_Guy's topic in Rants
Odly enough, there actualy is a button for the old detail levels  And I dont lag at all. Even my 5 year old computer dosen't mind. And well graphics dont change the game itself, there is an atmosphere to the new graphics that will always be there and makes grinding just a bit more enjoyable. This will be a great thing even after the novelty wears off.
  11. I put on a few pices f armour quickly and became invisible. I was downloading at the time and I suspect it was just the wait while the server gave my computer a new model to render.
  12. I'llget a better idea soon. I have a download thats goes from 150 to 310 kb/s and it keeps disconecting me. Need another wireless card
  13. Well, if I got stuck beside some large person who was taking up part of my seat i'd be rightly PO'ed. It's bad enough on city buses without being stuck beside someone on a long plane trip whos rear end is forcing me to move to one side of my seat. Its embarising, and they could consider some obese seating, but since I am not fat, I don't feel that I should suffer for the obese people. Think about this. How would you like to be stuck between to people who are each taking up at least 3 inches of your seat. Im pretty thin, but that would still leave me about 2 inches shourt of room and theres nothing like rear ends being pressed up against each other when your all stangers.

Amen to that. There are 2 reasons why I can get a job. 1st is that most lifegaurds go to other provinces or the states to make truck loads of money (the USA LOVES canadian lifegaurds) and the 2nd reason seems to be that most immigrants either don't swim or its not worth their time to get qualified. That and up here were so bent on gender and racial equality that its near immpossible for a white male to get a deccent job. We have all these immegrints filling up everything (and an awful lot of misdiagnosed cancer patients who had immigrant doctors). Our health care is free but if you wan't surgery in the century your put on the list it needs to be pretty serious, ie vital to your life or livelyhood (such as people who income depends on sports). As a point of interest, I like the aisans the most. They have an amazing work ethic that absolutly shames everyone else in the country (native and immigrant alike), and they keep there own culture confined to their home. Seriously, in public, when they move to Canada they actualy make a deccent effort to adopt the local culture, blend in and become canadian. Can't say the same for the other immigrants or ... hmph, there is no good way to say that so I will try a different approch. Lets just say there is immense resentment in the english speeking Canada towards one particular province and I expect they feel much the same way about all the english provences (I think New Brunswick is quite neutral in this). I don't know why we resist the separation, I would think we would speed it up and let them find out they won't be working for our fedural government or using our money once they leave. That and the sizeable native american population there would probably size control of the former province just like when they blockaded the borders the last time separation was thretened.
  15. The cars will use hydrogen fuel cells not a giant [wagon] balloon on top, companies won't send out cars that are a danger hazard, they do something called "research". They don't just strap some hydrogen cans onto a car and market it. Did you know it takes more electricity to make a fuel cell then you get back? If all cars suddenly converted to fuel cells, I figure wed need at least double the power generating capacity currently on earth. Since everyones unresonably afraid of nuclear, and no renewable energy source can handel that demand and still be remotly fesible enough to not cause fatal laughing at its mention, it would be fossil fuels that would take the load. Then we'd all be up [cabbage] creek without paddels on a hot day now wouldn't we. I think we should stop Brazil, the fourth lagest carbon emmiter, to stop clear cutting the ammozon to make way for crop feilds for bio fuels. Sure, aside from the chemical conversions provided by plant life, in 300 years it might actualy provide anough biofuel to meet at least Brazils demand (at 100% biofuel), but by that time there should be enough carbon in the atmosphere to cause big problems if were still alive by then. Actualy in 300 years you could probably make up for all the carbon emmision, but since making it up does not actualy remove the carbon released, that really dose nothing to help the situation. I think we should all pray for an ice age then develop interstellar travel since to get back to the natural cycle, we need to reduce emmision to probably -100% at least (yes, its negative, we need to REMOVE carbon). for a little while (the more we remove the less time we need, I just figure -100% should halt the procces whether its caused by humans or not).
  16. This is a natural part of the gameing cycle. At first you have a small community and the developer(s) can be chums with the players. As the game grows, this becomes unfesible because of sheer numbers, but there are also acusations of favoritisem and the like. To avoid appering biased, all frendships/relations (like between tipit and Jagex) must be kept out of sight and out of mind. There are still interactions, but all behind the scenes out of nesccesity. And to some degree, because of the loss of relationship between the average player and the developers, there will be a noticible effect of teh developers being out of tuch with the players. RuneScape hit that point years ago, part of the reasonthat the game needs a succesor. Even if the succesor is instantly as succesful in terms of player base, there will be noticible differences between how 'in touch' the developers are with players in the new game vs the old. RS is an old game, and has started to die. Once support goes and assuming the game still exists (like RSC), there could be a noticible rise in comunity quality as only the people truly interested in the game will stay. Its not a problem that will improve, the solution unfortunatly is to restart with a different game. That game will probably be MechScape which will be a separate entity instead of a sequal. This is also the reason there will never be a RS3.
  17. I think another project must be in the works to make RuneScape a more separate project like this. I think this means that the whole RS staff are being put in a project much like funorb (if they have not already). To me it just means the game will continue to be developed while they make the game to succeed RuneScape as the flagship project, which must happen eventualy. They are going to fufil the promise of supporting the game for what should now be around another 4.5 years, maybe 4.7 (dont rember when teh 5 years of support was announced). I wonder many people will say it can't get worse? Maybe we will see some continuation of ongoing plots under new leadership? That would be nice :D I'm not worried. What happens will happen and we (I) can deal with it or I can't. Not dealing with it would not be a bad thing for me, but continued enjoyment is good to.

Suppose it could be the sugar. I have pretty much given up on the refined sugar since it sets off a chronic illness if I have to much. I'll pass on the coffee, I can't get past the smell. The reason I suspect the caffiene is that I do know the stuff is really bad for people with intestinal illnesses (but then again I think that refined sugur, mostly surcrose, is held in the same regard). Either way, I normally avoid the pop and whatnot since it definatly makes me regret it for about 30 minutes afterwards (with enough regret to carry on after the pain stops).
  19. When I was in grade 6 at a school cammp, the teachers told us some story about the area at like 11pm. Anyways, right at the end some guy dressed as the dude from the story leaps out of the bushes roaring at us. I twisted an ankle on the way back to the cabin. There was also a teacher telling stories that apparently were giving anyone who listened nightmares (or some people). Fun times.
  20. Canadas cutting down trees, chipping them, and selling to Britan. Britan get carbon credits for not cutting down there trees and Canadas [bleep]ing up one of there biggest industries. Go polution trading. And bout the earth cooling thing. The warming idea actuarly states that will happen because there will be a rise in global cloud coverage that will block sunlight form reaching the surface causing an initial drop in temperature. After a few years, greenhouse effect kiicks in and hello (thunder)storms like we have never seen them before. As for cooling now? I find it hard to belive that the global average is dropping unless we just hit an ice age (in which case we would all be dead without artificaly raising the global temperature).
  21. Being there without ANYONE would definatly dappen the experiance. That was my one issue that since I was at a different school, so even though I knew plenty of people, I was only with a friend. I know what you mean about drunks. Next year I graduate on the same day I hit legal drinking age  (no I didn't fail a grade. I missed 5 weeks strait from illness and opted a repeat since my schol is not semestered. Best descision I ever made too). I don't knkow how my ears didn't ring the whole night though.
  22. Mine was pretty good. I am in grade 11 but I got an invite to a grade 12 prom at another school  by a girl I used to go to school with. The dance was pretty good, and I got to see a ton of people I havent spoken to in a few years as well. I don't think there was a theme, but I got to wear a tuxedo (which honestly just made my day). The song I rember most (for some reason) was "Enter the Sand Man". I expect thats because it was one of the few songs I actualy know (not a rap person which was alot of the music). There was some good dancing to that song heh heh. I also opted for the safe grad which started after midnight and ended at 6am. They had a bouncy castle, human fosebal, a ride on toilet and loads of other stuff. They had kaareoke which got progressively worse after about 2:30 (5 people BUTCHERED boheimian rhapsody  ). They had a hypnotist at the end which was just freaking awsome. I will NEVER forget that preformance in my life (I hope). He gave the volunteers 14 damn hours of sleep to! (and it worked, they were WIDE AWAKE). Next year I get to go to grad when I actualy graduate and with my GF (she was a close friend and probably would be my GF if we still went to the same school) which should make it more enjoyable (that and knowing more than 1/3rd of the people attending).

Lol.. If I quit, I'd probably lose weight because I'd actually be able to breath... Too bad quitting would also cause huge problems with everyone here. Care to explain that last bit? We would get angry? As for me I guess a small addiction to caffiene. Whenever I have an energy drink or pop like mountain dew or Dr. Pepper, I find I normally have a few more that day and then 1 or 2 for the next couple days, then its basicly gone. I don't drink energy drinks or pop though (very rarely) since I am also incapable of properly digesting caffieene (massive stomach cramps not unlike those that lactose intolerants get when the drink to much milk). I probably can't digest it because I went 7 months without ANY caffiene and now go several months at a time without it. Now I attack the kiwi juce thing with passion, I am probably sugar deficient now. Oh, and I am DEFINATLY addicted to...melted butter? You should see me make popcorn or rice =P~ No margerine though. That stuff is just [cabbage], only real butter for me.
  24. I would go for something likesome sort of levitating armour. I would also go for wings like tyrael from diablo. I don't even know if those wings allow him to hover (hes very steady), but they are really cool looking being so big and there good weapons to. Think the bad guy from spiderman 2. Tyrael wings are made up of whips that can throw people around, that and Tyrael must be near 15 ft tall so that would hive him maybe a 40 - 50ft wingspan.
  25. I once pried a couple hamburgers apart using a very sharp knife. Anyway one time I had the sharp side facing the hand holding the burgers, and it slipped. Because it was moving down and sideways it sliced right through my thumb stopping only when it struck bone. Somehow, no stiches, but I still feel queezy thinking about it. Whe it happened, I was able to very calmly get paper towel to apply pressure, tell my dad that I need to see a doctor, and get an ice pack. After that the adrenilene rush wore off resulting in sever shock which resulted in a huge urge to vomit, shacking, and my skin going very pale. Bear in mind my natural skin tone is someplace between chalk and milk and this was in the winter, so me going pale was actualy quite an accomplishment. My dad told me some storries about an accident he had that is quite gross and painful as well, and that may verywell have kept me from going into cardiac arrest (being a lifegaurd I know full well that shock is potentialy fatal, and I had just come off an adrenilene rush that had my heart rate up around 180 and dropped bellow 100 much to fast (hence shaking, urge to vomit, and desire to go uncouncious). Now I use one of the butter knifes that has no serated blade showing, and will necver has my had on the wrong side of one of those knifes again. Damn thing was brandnew and practucly had a razor blade at the time.
