  1. After playing full screen alot, I find it hard to use the normall size. My monitor is native to 1280x800, which aside from being a widescreen is rather large for a little window that is a set pixel width (I know there are people who have it much worse with largeer native resolution). Since I cant anti-alias in normall, shrinking is not an option (unless I want to sit 6ft away from my screen), so I find it stressful for my eyes to try and see details in normall. About the virtual machine. Does it use your OS or does it come with one (because running 2 vistas would probably not work on 2GB of RAM)? And I doubt its against the ruels. They said modified client, and your not modifying it. You just running it on a computer than only exists in your physical computers RAM and Hard Drive. Jagex could do it if they wanted. Someone already mentioned Blizzard. Diablo II can be run windowed and I figure there other games can be too.
  2. Only the members have full access so anoly members can possibly find all the bugs. Also, since only members can post on the RSOF, only members can report bugs. Why would Jagex open up the graphics to all when not even half of them can actualy report or even discover many of the problems? Its not a buisness thing since giving the f2p a taste of HD (ie no full screen) would convince more people to try the free demo and later become members than a bunch of screen shots ever can. Look at it this way, when f2p gets HD they'll be getting a higher quality since most or all of the glitches will have been removed. We get full screen and you get a bug free release a couple months later. You accuse it of being a buissnes ploy like its some sort of evil scheme  Its actualy called making money, which oddly enough is the sole reson the game still exists.
  3. Well, at least a sorce of food is close by, so I can slowly work on some fishing while I train. Hmm, fire giants. Might be worth a look. Anything I need to get in there again (needed something during quest I think)?
  4. I am currently getting ready to go from 62 to 66 magic for swan song. I am going to be casting mostly wind wave and water wave (when I hit level 65). I have most of the best stuff I can wear for magic as far as I know. Magic attack bonus of 75. What I am wondering is where I should train. I was thinking lesser demons since there weak to magic and there are safe spots, but I am sure there must be better. Good drops is nice, but really all I need is someplace where I can safe spot, and don't have to fight to get a monster to attack. I would rather avoid dungeons where I have to run through throngs of monsters to reach my destination, but mention any of those locations just incase. Also, someplace resonably close to a tuna/sword fish fishing spot is ideal, but again not nessasary.
  5. To the defender vs obby sheild: Since the str bonus is the same as a rune defender, it really comes down to accuracy vs defense. Off the top of my head the obby sheild is roughly double the defense of a defender, but offers no accuracy bonus. Compared, the defender is roughly half in melee defense but is lacking in magic, range, and summoning defense. The obby sheild is best in range and summoning def at roughly 150% of its melee defenses stats. The defender brings attack bonuses equal to its defenses bonuses to the party. For slash/stab/crush that is 20/19/18 for attack and defense. for magic/range -3/-2 again att and def.
  6. Ya, the picture of a guy on a boat? So what. sure, the cape is not a match for any existing skill cape or the quest cape, but look at the symbol on it. Cant tell what it is, but I can tell you it looks nothing like the symbol that is added to that highscore picture. The top looks like this \_/ with a dot between the to diagnols, there is a curve from 270 to 180 degrees (with 0 at UP) under and slightly to the left. Heres a quick paint version of the symbol on teh cape in that pic.
  7. By taking out the repeats you have completly changed th emeaning of the message in an interesting way. Before it seemed to be a call for help against some great foe who was attacking the seeker and something the seeker cared about. But without the repeats, the speaker would seem to be trying to kill a family but is having great difficulty and needs more help to complete the deed. From this version I would guess that either the speaker failed, or more likely is still trying to deafeat this foe who is resisting him.. If the original message is the true one, I would guess that again, the fight may not have ever ended and the speaker is stuck in somesort of limbo. He is unwilling to give up his soul, but does not have the power to free himself so the speaker and attacker are currently stuck in a stale mate. Another possibility is that this message is actualy not from the past. What if it were from the future, imprinted on the area with such force that the words trancend time and thus are heard both beofore and after the event. Rember on of the gnome quests, you had to talk to some wise gnome who saw our charecters future. He saw many people venture into the wild, but some did not return and I would propose that the voice may belong to one of those who never returned. As for a quest of sorts, I think that this may not be a stating point but rather a trigger. Perhaps after hearing the voice there is something you must do elsewhere to start the adventure?
  8. I was at a camp on an island several years back (maybe grade 7). Anyways, there is a sort of auction with manopoly money for the right to do certain pranks such as whiped cream on the head guys face and what not. Anyways we got one to throw last weeks leftovers (I think) in a manner simmaler to trowing pie. After that we led him blindfolded to the docks. If he knew he was on the docks he didn't say anything...until we led him right off the end. Then all 12 of us in that cabin (groups were each the occupants of a cabin, of which there were about 10-12) and our assistant couselor (each cabin has a counselor and assitant one in training) rand back to the cabin being cased by a very angery couselor. We locked the door and window shutters (no glass, just shutters). It took maybe 3 minutes for our couselor to get a window open. He climed in while we fled. Next we hid in the islands 7 outhouses so most of us, including myself had to double up. After some banging on doors that resulted in one of the outhouses being short a lock, we all managed to flee back to our cabin where we locked the mad coucellor out for about 20 minutes until he no longer wanted revenge. The funny thing is, it was not rehersed. It was actualy an on the spot idea by our assistant cousellor. At the same camp, there was a game where all the cousellors hid, and you had to find them and get there signatures. The catch was this was done in the [bleep] black of night (or all but the forst 10 minutes were), and there was one cousellor in a tiger suit chasing everyone who could make you losse at least 1 signature (maybe more). There was one instance on the open field where I suddenly hear screaming and 10 kids fleeing the woods in my direction. We all scatered into the forrest (its a decent island, and by far the best capture the flag location I have ever seen with an old stone wall dividing the island in half).
  9. I kept seeing this awsome looking armour on lower levels (30 to 62) with this skull on it. After seeing it several times over a space of maybe 2.5 hours, I noticed that the helmet is in the same set as the chest plate, but I had not seen any other part of the set. I am assuming it is the new khazzard armour since the skull is a fitting emblem and it is the only set I know of that is those 2 pieces, along with being ammazing bad armour thus a lack of high levels wearing it. If memory serves, khazzard is worse than iron if not bronze. Maybe this is an attempt to give people a reason to wear the armour. The rockshel body is to short, it leaves a gap between itself and leg armour. I got the rockshell because it was cheep and different. I was pleased to find it both good looking and almost identical in stats to rune (it has 5 less summoning defence). I almost bought a barrows piece, but only veracs appealed to me (as I would be forgoing the rest of the set) but its more expensive then the others, so I bought a whole rockshell set for half the price of guthans/torags/dharoks torso armour. My ammulet of glory is mostly inside the armour. I think it looks like a salve ammy, but it has also been mistaken for a furry a couple times :)
  10. It is a fake. Zoom in with paint and you can see that neither edge (the right one is the important one) does not line up with the other icons. Even the the summoning icon which is 1 pixel thiner than than the others should line up its right edge with all the others. This means the icon is to small, and there is no reason why they should have an icon that is smaller than the others. You will also see that it looks like a piece missing on the lower right side, probably an error in creation, so the icon there was probably the right size originaly but has a piece missing now. I did this in comparison to my own highscore page that I just took a screen shot of.
  11. I am one of those rare people my age that has never touched myspace or facebook. Part of it is that I actualy hate looking at pictures of myself and do not like getting my picture taken. Its not because I don't like how I look at all, its just something that bothers me for no rational reason. I have met few other people around my age who don not have facebook/myspace. The other thing is that it would take to much of my time. I spen enough time here and on other forums already (to much actualy), so I am not inclined to agrivate the problem. I am never quite my true self on the internet anyways (I tend to be more happy go lucky than I really am for some reason), and not knowing who I am talking to can make me more social. I just dont want ot be in a situation like a relationship where my girl friend finds out I am nicer more of the time on the web than in real life (don't get me worng, what you see is my true persona, unrestrained, but that does not show all the time in reality). I am not saying I am a grouch and mean person in real life, just that I care more, get frustrated, and have to deal more with social pressures.
  12. I sub as a beach lifegaurd (pays ok, tans good, girls are great) as the final relaxation before I get to work for the rest of my life until retirement (joy  ). So aside from the odd payday, I get to work on my own personal projects which I don't get to do often enough. I am also doing housework and general upkeep this summer. The most general things are keeping the kitchen clean and mowing the lawn. Other than that I get to be social, go biking, take the boat/seadoo out for a spin, throw balls for the dogs. Life will never be this good again, which is kinda depressing really. Oh well, all good things must end. I actualy had to insist on working (parents big on getting me to do manual labour), but even though I have not spent much of the money made being a full time beach lifegaurd last year, I have no intention of making no money this summer. Besides, I live next to the beach I worked at so great subing opportunities, and I stop by once or twice a week to talk (not a busy place) and the local daycamp kids rember me too :D . So ya, lifes good
  13. Just so you know, there actualy IS a globe of RuneScape. Its located on the main floor on the Wise Old Mans house. You might need visual enhancing software for a closeup though. I think that with the addition of full screen HD, it might be possible to get a resonable picture.
  14. Thats why theres a contrast setting on your monitor. Short of a full screen game, it is always better to use the monitor for this because then it affects the whole screen thus alowing you to enjoy your eyesight for a longer time. Yes HD RS has full screen, but its only an option so it does not make sense to build it into the client. If you have issues with the chatbox, use your monitor to fix the problem, don't use the thing causing the problem to fix the problem.
  15. The faq that Jagex provides acuratly describes the level of strain put on the system by each feture. After anti-aliasing, water is actualy to most stresful (if there is water around to render of course). I think grouns details were after water and for most places actualy have a larger impact since ground details are everywhere and water is not. With these specs I am able to run EVERYTHING at maximum AND 4x anti-aliasing at 1280x800 resolution fulscreen with no problems. Note that the anti-aliasing only produced a notable impact when I was looking for it, and now that I have seen the game through 4x AA, I can NEVER go back, its that much better. Proccesor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5450 @ 1.66 Hz (2 CPUs), ~1.7 GHz Memory: 2046 MB (2 GB) RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 10 GPU: (NVIDIA) GeForce 8400M GS (GS is the mid range card for this model) DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC Approx. Total Memory: 880 MB (The card is 200 something. It seems to have claimed part of my RAM for itself as augmentation) Current Display Mode: 1280x800 (32-bit)(60Hz) DirectDraw Acceleration: Enabled Direct 3D Acceleration: Enabled AGP Texture Acceleration: Enabled It runs Windows Vista Home Premium (with absolutly NO PROBLEMS). It is an HP computer *Note that the graphics card is actualy not designed for gaming. It was intended primarily for HD movies playback. Like typical HP, it is a media machine, but still able to hold its own in any medium range game. I give these only to give people an idea what sort of specs will work flawlessly in windows vista (dont forget how much RAM and GPU power are needed just to make Vista idel.
  16. I put on a rockshell body and got a couple. First, my ammulet of glory is inside the armour where the armour sticks out a bit. The second is there is a nice gap between the bottom of teh rockshell and the top of my dragon legs
  17. Go into your internet properties on the security tab (the one on the very right side). Find Java. There probably wont be an option for unsigned, but you can check sun java (or uncheck if its already on). No idea what sun java is but changing the java seems like a good place to start.

If its a pre paid card it WILL NOT work.
  19. If you actualy watch that part of the movie, the motions are near identical. The major difference is just the colour of the glowing thing.
  20. I just do my thing. I will calculate how much is left to do, but I really dont care how I actualy do it. The only charecter I play has been arouns since 2 months after the launch of RS2. It really dosent show at all. I have never seen 10 mil, and I dont have a skill at 80 yet. I spend over half my time switching between skills or wander aimlessly around the world trying to decide what to do. 80% of my leveling in the last year has been to meet quest reqirements, and 70% of my non training time prior to the last 2 months was devoted to skilling. Lately I have taken to slughtering ankous by teh tens of thousands because its one of the best money makers I have found. If I liked range, I could rake in money like no tommarow at avianesis, but thats just not for me. I like to plod away without many goals. Makes it easier to stop playing. If I cared and were intense about the whole thing I would never stop playing and I dont want that.
  21. I have been trying to discover this lag. I have maxed EVERYTHING including the anti-aliasing to 4x (maximum), and all I can get is a slit stutter everyonce in a while when the frame rate drops momentarily. I am using a graphics card that was designed to play HD movies, not render games (though it can do any mid range game fine). I am connected using a sub par connection by the tech board standards, and I know by running a download that my connection is about 100 kb/s from disconecting HD full screen. Maybe its the canadian servers that just work awsome  cause there is no reason I should not be suffering some lag. Actualy, my lag is decreasing, probably because of teh more efficent streaming they seem to use for the new mode. HD seems to lag much less than normal mode right now.

I am spoiled just in the fact I get to drive my parents cars without paying for gas or insurance. And there nice cars too (acura, infinity, a 15 year old AMG Mercedies) <-not all at once. Only 2 at a time. Aside from that I don't pay for food, or the power, or any bills. Life's good. I definatly won't enjoy this standard of living once I move away from home, and I will miss it, and I shall work hard to make enough money so that I can enjoy this standard of living, and my children can enjoy this standard of living. And by doing so I will be repaying my parents in a way, by doing what they did, and with any luck my children will be able to afford this standard of living for their kids (if not better).
  23. Personaly I feel entitled to a refil once I am done and am leaving (why would I stay in a fast food resturant?). I guess you could sit there, drink it, refil and repeat, but I dont see why you would. Just because you can does not mean you should.
  24. Your using a 64 bit Operating system. I can count on 2 hands the number of games that have been designed to work with a 64 bit CPU (not really, but there arent many games either). I expect that this may be your problem. They had to add new protocals and all sorts of computer programming mumbo jumbo and chances are one of the 'things that make HD RS go' is not compatible with you CPU. Your computer is literaly to good for the game  Other than that I have no ideas. There might be some option someplace in ultimate to make your CPU run at 32-bit specs like every other computer used by the general public otherwise you wouldn't be able to play any games made before maybe 2006.
  25. In my experiance, you will probably know if your overheating. My previous laptop had cooling issues near the end of its life. I think something happened because it had not always been as bad. It got to the point where the metal covers over the chipsets could actualy burn skin. More than once, while playing runescape (and other games if I played long enough), it would start to lag. About a minute after that started it would become unplayable, and the whole system just slowed to a crawl (it went from I think ~1.7Ghz to about 300-450 Mhz. At that point I would have to shut it down, remove any cover plates on the bottom that I could (I think one was ram and the other was teh backside of the CPU), and set it down upside down and wait five minutes for the insides to cool down. Sometimes I used a blowdryer to speed things up. I think it was reaching temps around 55-60 C when it started to fail. If a computer slows and the proccesor is not being strained, temperature is a likely cause. I don't know if other comps will be so obvious, but they might.
